to understand Dr. Campolo, we need to get up from our easy chair and start working.. most evangelicals thought when Jesus talked about the evil "doers" will not inherit heaven they bring out the Justification by faith ALONE, therefore feel not obligated to treat the oppressed rather condemn them to hell coz they're going to heaven anyway.. no wonder our Lord says,"not everyone who calls me LORD, LORD will go to heaven".. This man is deluded but more disturbing he is a deceiver. All christians are called to preach the good news of Christ BUT they are not all called to govern the church. Tony has blended 2 different ministries for the purpose of his own flawed argument. Men are commanded to govern the church and women are forbidden. Simple! if you cant follow the scriptures then you cannot be a christian. Jesus said the road was narrow and few find it. Tony has wandered into apostasy and become blind leading blind

I guess you are not a Christian then, because you do not follow the Scriptures. I don't know you but I know that you have sinned and that you hold wrong doctrine (Wrong doctrine b/c there is no way any of us have it perfect). But we must be humble and treat others with respect and love. Especially if they believe something different than us. But I will agree with you that we need to defend truth and the teaching of Scripture. But to call someone unorthodox is a serious claim.

Read Mr Compollo's long list of heretical doctrine and any doubt as to this man's relationship to the God of Scripture is no longer in question. Romans 16:17 says " Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. " This man's words have placed him in such a position. I would rather obey the apostle Paul than Tony. I do not hold wrong doctrine, I only adhere to the scriptures.

Matt 7:1 "Judge not, that you be not judged." While this verse is often over used, most see at least the prohibition of determining someone's eternal fate. Again, I just appeal to humility and a gentle spirit towards Dr. Compollo. He is a sincere man and says a lot of good things. This video certainly does not contain anything heretical.

So then if your use of the scripture' judge not' is correct how do we both mark false teachers and avoid them? Compo's failure to call sin sin is evidence that he is a corrupter of scripture. I have read his literature for over 20 yrs, as a young man I thought he was a radical and spoke fondly of him but as I grew in my knowledge of God and scripture I came to realise that he is a false teacher, one to be marked and avoided.

What makes you so sure he'll need an excuse? Tony is a modern-day prophet, and you don't get to decide if he goes to Heaven or not.

All I can say is what is according to God's word...and God's word goes beyond the "red letters".

Tony reads more than the red letters, but he (and people like him) are interpreting Christianity as pursuing the character of Jesus, which is found in the Red Letters. Why is that anything to be threatened by?

God helps us all and we need to know what He says ourselves..what happened to reading the word daily. For man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God..we don't need a prophet, we need the word of God to stustain us

The word of God without community is worthless. Campolo has not elevated himself to the level of prophet, I'm just choosing to call him that because he's in a position to be heard (and I like what he's saying).

What would the church be without people like him who aren't afraid to challenge the way things are being done within the church? Does God discourage people to speak out against injustice and complacency?

so, if we can find gay people who held positions of leadership throughout history, we can then say that there was a church tradition of gays in leadership and that would make it ok to be gay in todays church? bullsh!+, these people keep talking themselves silly and he is a xtian of convenience just like those people he would say want to sin and pick and choose bible verses that will justify their lifestyle. It's easy for him to be homophobic b/c it's accepted today, but being sexist is not.ugh

I don't want to alarm you, but every Christian leader for the last 2000 years has struggled with SOMETHING. That doesn't validate it, it just means they're welcome into the Kingdom of God in spite of it. Campolo is hardly a Christian of convenience or homophobic... an absurd accusation. He often rebukes churches for their homophobia.
