  • boo. you killed the movie. rory sucks

  • I've been around a day or two, have seen Winters, SRV, Gibbons, Gallagher, Santana, Thorogood, Page, Blackmore, Clapton, King, Beck, Alvin Lee!!!, and who knows how many others. (Never got to see Hendrix)

There are a lot of BEST guitarists. My opinion is Jeff Beck rules!!! That man can make a guitar, make any sound he can think of, including music.

  • BTW Rory is frickin' awesome, too.

  • Well done! Rory was unique, a humble and honest RockGiant. I like Jimi, but Rory is my no.1!

  • 14 June 2011...............16yrs and counting.

Today and everyday Rory will be No.1

He is the ONLY reason why the guitar and electricity was invented.

"nice one Rory" indeed.....Still the best vid on Youtube!!!!

    Thanks RoryJim.

    R.I.P. Rory

  • no player ever cranked up the power and energy as relentlessly and as brilliantly as Rory....

  • Great Scott !!!

  • Good stuff lad.

  • Yeah !! Great film and best guitarist ever !!

    Cool

  • Johnny Winter does a nice version..check it out

  • good! waoo

  • Rory wins Marty's clip probably took weeks to put together and he wasn't even playing his axe.Rory was live one take, and crucially he can actually play. Someone always comes on a Rory vid mentioning Jimi,I like both they're both masters so shut up and post on Hendrix clips instead.

  • i think the best ones are ac/dc's and beatles' versions

  • @tasoz95skyline Judas Priest version is very good too

  • @Zyava forgot them,thanks

  • What a fantastic colaberation. Very Well Done. Rory version here fits Michael J Fox perfect. I hope Michael has seen this, he'd get a real kick out of it.

clips of Back to the future and Rock goes to college, like peanut butter and chocolate, lol.

  • Rory kicks Marty's butt on the guitar but Marty has better showmanship.

  • MARTY WINS :D

  • wonderful stuff my man.made me smile from ear to ear.cheers

  • Well tagged together...well done. cool.

  • you cant het better than rory gallagher!!!

  • does some bothy know where i can download that song but as an audio version??? xD

  • use zamzar my friend

  • Hesmon: Not better, not worst. Just different that Jimi's version. PERIOD.

  • Jimi Hendrix's version is far better than this one and if you don't agree you are simply wrong.

  • Ok, Hesmon. Hendrix is Jimi, Rory is Gallagher, Berry is Chuck. Come on, make your own JBG with Hendrix clip and share it for all.. go ahead.. :)

  • I'm not talking about the clip because it's beautiful. i'm just stating that Jimi's version is far better than every other version.

  • Unfortunately, I never heard Jimi's one.

While making the clip I had found only two JBG versions by Rory. First has very poor qualiy. Later, I've got more JBG from Rory, but it was later.

Anyway, I'd like to compare Jimi's one? Where I can get it? Is it on bootlegs?

  • You can find it right here on youtube. It's from a concert in Berkeley in 1970, not long before his death.

  • @RoryJim

Hendrix's version is on 'Hendrix in the West'

  • sounds reasonable....

  • No way. But I'm not into Johnny Winter so can you tell me which live videos of his are great so i can form an opinion. But no matter how great, Jimi will always be my number one.

  • There are some good ones on here (The 1970 ones) but the very best version can be found on the "Live/And" and "Live" albums.

  • Okay thanks but I meant other songs as well and not only JBG.

  • The same goes for me! Hendrix is way better then JW.

  • @hesmon we like Rory's flavour just cuz you like chicken flavour crisps doesn't mean i can't like salt n' vinegar does it. These vids are put on to celebrate a grand master and true legend on and off stage your not qualified to tell us whos best so naff off.

  • @hesmon I haven't heard Jimi's version either but Rory blew Jimi off the stage at the isle of Wight Festival back when he was playing with Taste. even Jimi admitted to that, he had alot of respect for Rory. Of course there was also the famous incident when a reporter asked Jimi what it felt like to be the greatest guitar player in the world and he said "I don't know you'd have to ask Rory Gallagher"

  • @riastradh2 Everybody blew Jimi away at the Isle of Wight because it was one Jimi's worst gigs. He was tired, hadn't slept in 3 days and was bored out of his skull. Jimi saying Rory was the best was typical of Jimi, he also said the same thing of Zappa once. It's called being modest and having respect. Of course he respected Rory and rightfully so. Jimi should be judged by his winterland, Royal Albert Hall and Berkeley performances, not The Isle of Wight. Check out Jimi's of Johnny B Goode!

  • @hesmon Being bored out of your skull isn't a reason to play a bad gig and he hardly had much respect if he stayed up for 3 days and played a shitty gig for his fans,Rory was far more professional. No one is trying to say Jimi was shite, sound wise he was a trailblazer, but he's over appreciated and Rory is under appreciated thats fact I never saw jimi pull out a mandolin mid gig. Rory brought it with a clean sound but he always brought it. Provide a link for jimi's version if you got one

  • @riastradh2 Jimi was killed by his management which made him play too many gigs and when Jimi played a concert, people asked for the same songs and he wanted to play new stuff. Isle of Wight is just a bad concert. Jimi was the electric guitar, he didn't need to play mandolin. He played bass though on many of his studio songs from electric ladyland. Rory definately was under appreciated but that doesn't mean Jimi was over appreciated. Rory was a true original and should get more praise.

  • @riastradh2 just type in Jimi Hendrix Johnny B Goode.

  • Really well done, made all emotional for dear ol' Rory.

  • All good as far as I'm concerned too well done

    Rory is legend

  • Great video, Gallagher was truly a great

  • Very nice bravo roryjim

  • Nice one RoryJim - Rory Gallagher is one of life's all time Greats - Great Vid - I liked shirtcreeks reply - just to make him feel better i`m 55....but i still party hard on my strat...ps: i must find a Millets so i can get a new Rory Shirt....

  • Fantastic video, the best homage I have ever seen for this much loved and great Man. No criticism from me : )

I saw him twice in Sheffield and listen to him almost every day. I even have my alarm ringtone (walkin' the dog intro) wake me up lol.......sad I know and I'm 52, music never got any better than this.

A fitting tribute to the anniversary of his departure on 14 June.

Thanks Rory Jim for posting this : )

    Rock on Rory

  • Very cool! Rory 4ever

  • How can you even compare Thorogood to Gallagher? I like George, but hey there is no comparison in talent between George and Rory.

Rory beat them all. Maybe you should look more in to his works.

  • That's easy....

George is still alive and kickin'.... ;-)

  • Is that the best you could come up with? I Guess in your thinking, all people living are better than the dead? And by the way that was a pretty heartless statement. Either you are very young or just immature.

  • I guess in your thinking all people who are dead are better than the living...so watch out...Nostalgia is the cancer for today ! ;-)

I have seen Rory and I have seen George both live (so I'm old...)...They have very different styles.. and they are both excelent guitarplayers...

  • not necessarily wigonl on my thinking, but you are right about the nostalgia bit, yes it can be cancerous. At least we agree on one thing, excellent guitar players. And hey don't forget about Johnny Winter, and he IS still alive and well. I will have to send you my favorite of his.

  • in the tradition of great guitar players from early 70s,this is the best so far, with all respect to winter, buchanan, hendrix, lee

but Id like to see eric sardinas playing

    jhonny b good.

  • to be honest, this sucks, hendrix versions of this songs are way more ass kicking.

  • Rory kicks-ass !!!!. Great vid...

  • Great homage! 'Much appreciated and especially ...Marty/Rory would've loved it! Regards, :-R

  • great. thank you.

  • CLASSIC!!! love rory!! still miss him!!

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha you just have to laugh!!!!!!!! c'mon the g man

  • this gave me a pretty good laugh, as i'd never heard the rory version before, and i was kind of used to marty mcfly playing it. when he started singing it just sounded so wrong at first xD

but you did a fantastic job, right down to the intro. "Back... to the Rory!"

  • this is from back to the future 2.

  • in 2, he was in the future. this was from the first one where he is sent to, i think, 1955.

  • First movie as main line, but there's a few scenes from BTTF2.. where Rory..oops..Marty in black hat.

  • Отлично!Просто супер!Постарался на славу!Класс!

  • Rory is actually playing Bullfrog Blues, but never mind - this is f...ing brilliant.

  • lukalamps, were you not listening to the lyrics? This is most definitely Jognny B Goode.

  • Thanks mate, but I was referring to the video!

  • Ahh, I see. Fair enough, but it does say at the side that he didn't have actual footage.

  • he wud been using a slide if it was Bullfrog Blues, sry for criticism

  • Original Rory footage from 1979/28 jan - United Kindom (Middlesex). Don't ask me what the songs were used - can't remember, but there no any Bullfrog Blues, offcouse =))

  • great 5 stars

  • nice one m8 :p

  • whoops, when i said "sinked" I meant synced, maybe i shouldn't have had that last glass of wine ;)

  • Well done - great video. Love the way you sinked up Rory's audio to the video. And that's a cracking version of Johny B. Goode that Rory plays

  • love the bit when he starts doing 80s cheese tapping in back to future.

  • rorys better

  • great video

  • great video

  • Incredible video! Shows you really love both. Everything was top notch, and I loved the little touch at the end (you know, throwing in Marty's line as well). Keep on rockin' in the free world man!!

  • Thanks man! Rory and Michael both in my heart!

  • This was a match made in heaven, You are Brilliant. (I'm exhausted from playing it over & over,...*...@...%...?...*.. !)
