I think Sontaran's sort of have some variety. I think after a while through the cloning process, they start to become different. That's why the Sontarans in the latest episodes look different from the first one.

not only that but the Sontarans are pointless in this episode. They get both killed by that chick and they don't even kill anyone

The sontarans may be a cloned race but they know the problems that come from putting all your species into one genetic basket so they add in an element of randomness and cue tall ass

I can understand having 2 or 3 different actors (it'd make sense to have clones from more than one template) but a six foot Sontaran is inexcusable.

@theeyeoftheduck I don't think is the height limit, but the fact that they are clones of each other. Tall or short their height should be the same or at least close. In that episode one looks clearly much taller than the other. As for your question, the Third Doctor calls them short?

the height should be the same but sontarans facial features are meant to vary slightly from each other

I find it more confusing how loose their collars. Sure, low budget, but couldn't they atleast tape it together or something?

Well if you have been cloning for some time (hundreds of years) you should be able to adjust a batch to show whatever characteristics you want. But you would want everyone to be the same size so they all fit the equipment the same.

i dont think all sontarans are clones of the same template. i think some are clones of different ones which explain differaces. this however is what im lead to belive and not nessicarily true.
