  • To think that Mitch Mitchell won the position as drummer by the toss of a coin. Incredible.

  • The first I've ever seen Mitch play Gretsch that I can think of, or I haven't been paying attention. I always thought He played Ludwigs??

  • questo nonè Mitch Mitchell,è Buddy Miles

  • @EdwardErlic14Heusden ma che dici? è Mitchell! Buddy Miles è nero!

  • My Brother can play drums better than Mitch.THAT is a hard-core statement! He has turned down some MAJOR bands. Some you would freak out over..but where do you find someone that can MATCH someone as good as Mitchell/Hendrix?Life totally SUX when you cant find someone on your level.Send someone THIS way if you're in the lines along Hendrix or someone better.Turning ppl down gets OLD! I DONT CARE HOW FAMOUS YOU ARE!! I WANNA JAM!!!

  • RIP

  • What is the name of the song, machine gun?

  • mitch fit jimi`s style the best. he was a jazz drummer before

  • Three people think freaking death metal drumming is cooler then this. Dumb as hell.

  • This was Isle of Wight.

  • jimi hendrix experience = first jazz fusion/ progressive rock band

  • To back up Jimi Hendrix was a hell of a tough call for any drummer and Mitchell did with absolute perfection.

  • where did this take place?

  • There's been 3 retarded visitors

  • I liked the part when jimmy plays the guitar

  • Jimi Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell: Greatest collaboration of musicians of all time.

  • Mitch Mitchell and Ginger Baker..

  • Bands likes Zeppelin, Floyd, Doors, Hendrix give you chills? Are you physically attracted to music? I AM!

But If you think this is good well...Introducing my channel. IT attempts to open your mind up to a whole new world of musical truth. Don't forget to CHECK it OUT & subscribe IF U LIKE IT! <3muchlove

  • one of my favourite drummer ever and one of the greatest of all-time!

  • wow hes probably the only people who can play the drums with double bass and not be a total faggot

  • @JesusJoseTaco Dont forget ian paice and keith moon!

  • One of my favourite drummers, together with John Bonham.

  • Attention Drummers/musicians!!! Get the book "realistic rock" by Carmine Appice!! If you like 60's-70's rock drumming it's the Bible. It turned my hopeless brother into a real rock guy. He would work on it every day and half way through the book and after learning the first Zeppelin record beat for beat he would go back to the jams and sound exactly like Simon Kirk of Free and Bad Company...with bonham fills to boot. It could save rock drumming im serious. Amazon.com

  • Mitch Mitchell was my greatest and most important influenc with Tony Williams right behind him..Oh and Billy Cobham All fusion masters. Those guys smoke all twerps today

  • The guy came up with the "If 6 was 9" beat. Enough said.

  • Daaaamn I'm really gettin into his drumming style. it's like a mind trip for me to change it from a simple drumming style to THIS

  • I love mitch's look at 0:08

  • Jesus, Jimi Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell are three of the most important or the most important people in human history

  • I love Mitch Mitchells drumming, it sounds so tight.

  • Kinda lived in the shadow of guys like Ginger Baker and Keith Moon. Sad, really, cause the guy was awesome.

  • fucking amazing.

  • Being from a generation of drummers (I'm only 15) that usually use match grip, it just blows my mind to see guys like this rocking out traditional grip

  • @thedizzies1 He uses matched grip for almost the entire video. Did you not watch the whole thing? Mitch was great at what he did, but check out Virgil Donati if you want to see someone who really tears it up in trad.

  • @AdariUK nooo, sir I was just talking about the beginning

I will most certainly do that, thank you!

  • Breaks my heart to see him a double bass but oh well. Bonham and Mitchell are the best drummers to ever live.

  • mitch mitchell is to drums as jimi hendrix was to guitar.

  • Mitch, Ginger, Bonham, Moon, Starr All Drum Legend's.

  • mitch is a fucking beast, he eats that drum like a cake

  • I never knew that Mitch Mitchell played double bass--every record I jammed to on the drums, I could all do with a single bass. Perhaps it was used strictly for solo's or live? I'll never know :/

  • I understand that there are alot of technical stuff that goes on on stage, but i thought it was rude of Hendrix to be talking behind Mitch while he was jamming his solo...just sayin'.

  • This Is Legend!

  • mitchell is awesome ... but damn, the clothes he wore ... what was going on in his mind?

  • @FynnDynamite hmmm what can make me look gay without getting a guy to hit on me????? oh well i wont mind it (grabs that outfit)

  • @FynnDynamite drugs imo

  • @FynnDynamite

    acid

  • @FynnDynamite psychedelia, everyone dressed that way back in the 60's. as a hendrix fan shouldnt even be asking that.

  • this CANT be disliked!

  • who are the two assholes who disliked this?

  • @POWNAGE1988 Or better yet, WHERE are the two assholes?

  • @POWNAGE1988

I'm guessing his two bass drums, lol.

  • @POWNAGE1988 three assholes

  • :O Mitch Mitchel y John Bonham los mejores!!!

  • isle of wight<3 the audio and video are off sync even when im baked as fuck i can tell

    great video though

  • i want to see it all!!! don't stop it now, who made the damned cut

  • MITCH MITCHELL,WAS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE TOP 5 DRUMMERS, OF ALL

TIME...THE MAN WHO PIONEERED ''FUSION'' STYLE DRUMMING...MOST PEOPLE

DON'T REALISE,HOW MUCH MITCH WAS A DRIVING FORCE BEHIND ''JIMI''...HE

PUSHED HENDRIX TO THE LIMIT &,HENDRIX PUSHED BACK HARDER!!! MITCH WAS, A VERY SOFT SPOKEN,LOW KEY ''NICE GUY''...I HAVE THE FEELING THAT,HENDRIX,REDDING &,MITCHELL,ARE IN A BETTER PLACE...JAMMING &,KISSING THE SKY!!! WE MISS YOU...''R.I.P.''

  • Mitch Mitchell is the man with the fast hands

  • I'm not a huge fan of his solo's but he was a GOD inside the song...Bonham, Moon and Mitchell by far my top 3 favorite drummers...and seeing as I'm the lord of eternal musical judgement...that's pretty impressive...lol

Unfortunately all my drum gods are dead...WTF???

  • whats the name of that jam?

  • @largemouthmike411 It's the 20 minute jam of Machine Gun off of the Isle Of Wight live dvd.

  • @largemouthmike411 It's the 20 minute jam of Machine Gun off of the Isle of Wight live dvd.

  • I would give my right nut to have half of his talent!!!!

  • fucking hippies...

  • @balerinauzicka Do you mean Jimi and Mitch?

  • @Django5198 yep. they rule...

  • @balerinauzicka yeah lol

  • God, he's definitely my favorite rock drummer, one of the best white drummers haha

  • I could listen to Mitch solo for hours. He never repeats himself. He's ALWAYS CREATING. A genius on drums......

  • thats a tight gretsch set.

  • Scrawny arms

  • 1:47 its just comes together beautifully!!!

  • Mitch Mitchell is the most underated drummer in rock history and if anyone have any questions about that just go and listen to "Manic Depresion". Not many people could outshine Jimi but on that song Mitch definately did.

  • @Thunder20187 I'm with you all the way... Fire is another one...Mitch brings home the goods.

  • was this solo out of hear my train a comin'?

  • Such great technique....

  • I love how Jimi is just standing around like "Eh... even I don't do solos that long, man."

  • fucking weird looking kind of drummer....no im not offending him cuz i like jimi hendrix but u hav to admit that looks pretty damn strange.

  • @KurdtKobain09

If you were around in those days, the drugs, the tour schedule, the airports,

3am festival slots, you'd probably look weird yourself.

And as someone said earlier it doesnt matter what he looks like, hes a fucking legend, with Bonham and Paice.

  • @capetown99 yes i know and as i said i wasn't paying him out. It's just that's the first guy that ever ressembles the hippie that pops into my head whenever i hear the word hippie :P

  • you fucking kidding me? They had double bass in the 60s? When I took up drums thought double bass was only used in metal. I appreciate the fact that my influences (dave grohl/tre cool) don't use double bass. But i did find out that nirvanas former drummer (chad channing) used it and so did scott raynor (blink 182s former drummer)

  • @KurdtKobain09 - They had double bass in the 1940's. Duke Ellington's bands were mostly with Double bass drummers (Louis Bellson, Sam Woodyard).

  • @KurdtKobain09 Dave Grohl uses double bass quite a bit, maybe not on Nirvana albums but definitely on their live gigs, listen to them at Reading, it's a dub-bass dream (actually a shame he didn't play like that on the CDs) and he sure rocked the hell outta the dub-bass on the entire Tenacious D album, by far his best work IMO, not better songs just better drumming although his creativity on the Vultures CD makes me Jizzz.....

  • Solo hubo 2 grandes Bateristas en este planeta --->> John Bonham y Mitch Michell

  • it's funny how at 1:14 jimi was like "hey dude you think we should stop him?" while the bassist would probably be like "nah let's let him have his fun"

  • thanks man! wow.

  • mitch mitchell sure loved his snare =D

  • best drummer ever, so much style, and michael shrieve

  • Still soo sad Mitch is gone .. dude was a human drum machine .. rest in peace brother you are missed.

  • Cool !!

    I love his improvisation.

  • its he had a better mic set up and modern rock set up this would sound sweet

  • I was able to see him for a brief few seconds when he came onstage in Portland during the Experience tour last year, which happened to be his last. R.I.P., greatest drummer ever

  • oh my god

i knew he was my favourite drummer but wow..

    favourite guitarist too

    this videa made my day

  • Great drummer! The speed is incredible. It's so great that they put him with the worlds greatest guitarist!

  • As a frustrated drummer, I love Mitchell as much as Hendrix --- great guitarist, great drummer , and the twain met resoundingly:) --

  • luv the d.b.'s!

  • fucking beast

  • Only support the music thats worth supporting, not a drummer, but i can see how much talent is needed for something as amazing as that 10/5

  • todays music is wak as hell

WTF???? no more solos or wat dude

thts wat these ppl did and now all they do is cords wow sooo amazing

(im not dissing jimi or ppl tht do solos)

but it just pisses me of how green day is so freakin popular

  • because some people are more worried about what is popular versus what sound good we all know green day sounds like shit and Green day probably doesn't even enjoy what they do they just like the money hence Green day (pay day)

  • @jezeus420 Im i huge fan of Jimi Hendrix lol. But i also think you have wrong, ofc they just like a bunch of kids playing around and want money but they are good at playing the rock they are playing, what are they playing, is it punk rock?, ye it is right?, good at punk rock but nothing when it comes to play like this. Its not fair to even say Green day in this conversation.

  • @imshloodoo1 kind of forgot what my point was if i even had one but green day isn't rock, what i was trying to say is that they're not so much music oriented more so just in it for the money, that's why their music is of lower caliber.

  • @jezeus420 punk rock**

  • @jezeus420 pay day? You're an idiot lol. They came up with the name cause they were all addicted to marijuana.

  • @g00dGuY34 k sure buddy, and yey you must be one of those people who think you can go into withdrawl from smoking ganj

  • @g00dGuY34 try emo rock

  • @g00dGuY34 You're a fucking imbecile there is no such thing as marijuana addiction, only marijuana commitment.

  • i cant stand all my friends talking about how today's band are awesome and whatever. It fuking pisses me off when they say bands like led zeppelin or deep purple suck and sound old. pathetic

  • @max7338 led zeppelin is the best band period and deep purple have had so many awesome songs. BUT... There are some great modern rock bands you should listen to like mastodon.

  • Mitch + Jimi = My type of music

  • its more than music !!! its like another dimension !!! they had the perfect feeling when they was playing together !!!!! i will do anything to see them in concert !!! fuck 2010 and is sucky music !!

  • well said brother! :D like 99 per cent of todays music is absoloute WANK!!! xx

  • this is very interesting because it's one of Mitch Mitchell's weakest solos

  • i agree with you, its still good, but hes done better

  • I agree w/the guy that says Mitch mitchell is here in the process of reinenting himself w/the double kicks. He never was as good on those IMO. His hands awere awesome and his style ....Killer all the way. RIP one of the best ever. He and Dino Danelli chnged the way I looked at drumming.

  • RIP MITCH MITCHELL. 1947-2008

  • this was interesting , I remember him playing ludwig ,and a single bass , super great drummer ,not a good example of his playing here though , maybe he was in the process of trying to re-invent himself

  • one of the greatest drummer to have ever lived

    R.I.P

  • dvd's title?

  • Live At The Isle Of Wight

  • The legendary Mitch Mitchell is the finest and the more innovative drummer of rock history and also pioneered a style of drumming, which would later become known as fusion.

    I miss you forever, Mitch.

Mitch Mitchell forever in our hearts.

  • @franciscovaldevez Buddy Miles sounded soooooo much tighter with Jimi, Buddy pioneered a style of drummin too it was called HEAVY POCKET, not light rat'a'tat'tat hits, mitch was good, but jimi'sband sounded like a band when he played with Buddy Miles

  • @guitaristbiker Miles had a heavier pocket, but I find his playing boring. I seriously doubt he could have come up with as exciting as drum parts as Mitchell did on stuff like Fire and Manic Depression.

  • @sackboy82 But its not for a drummer to be busy during a guitar solo it was the Jimi Hendrix experience not the drummer experience so it should be tasty pocket w/ nice bass pocket and Jimi's guitar and then........ when Jimi gives someone a chance they can go like hell but when they are always busy, some people like that, thats not how music is played unless ur playin jazz which Jimi clearly didn't play, decent drummer, just toooo busy kinda like some of the gospel drummers or heavy metal guys

  • @guitaristbiker and sackboy82: for both of yous information mitch was drumming because this show was one of the most difficult ones to perform. Something was always fucking up and Jimi could barely play. His wah wah is the problem in this particular part here, and he tries to fix it with something. While they do to keep the show going mitch started to drum. This went on twice and before in from the storm and basically all through machine gun. Jimi put the spotlight on the other two a few times.

  • @VercettiVice hey i get that man, all i'm sayin is like put in one of the cds or records and the pocket behind the song is a lil too busy sometimes its more bouncy as opposed to just bein straight drum beat, as far as a solo like what ur talkin about from somethin fuckin up, i get that thats not what i'm talkin about ur totally right in this instance

  • @VercettiVice yous isn't a word.

  • @franciscovaldevez sorry man but bonzo kicks his ass anyday. O n the other hand mitch is definately a close second.

  • @repentandrebel False.

  • Thank You Mitch Mitchell! You played in the greatest band of all time! Attitude I could believe!

  • I miss you. Rock in peace :(

  • R.I.P
