  • epic love to ride on it and film it

  • .Darjeeling to New japaigudi, that was the best journey of my life can not forget that day.

  • It takes 1000 years for Indians to build this type trains and tracks

  • @martyrindia I thought the British built it.

  • Well, the UK came and built this (which is probably why the trains can work on the Ffestiniog Railway).

  • precious necklace of hill queen.

  • search for "darjeeling railways" for a 6 part BBC documentary.

  • so cute

  • She is an absolute beauty.

  • and ya those 2 guys r spraying sand on tracks, so that the train doesnt derail.

  • No. Sand helps the wheels grip the rail on uphills. Caledonian812 has it right (see below).

  • same thing, i said it in a different way

  • not derailment !! it gives good traction .. the train needs more traction because of the incline. without sand, it can even slide in a few sections when the brakes are on. thats because the line is built in steep terrain.

  • hey, i've been on this train. the site is just so beautiful, but the train is really slow!

  • Sand is used to help engine wheels grip during icy or damp days. It also can help an engine up a hill with a heavy train.

  • Yes they are and i wonder how much their get paid for it?

  • Is it just me, or is the valve timing off?

    nice stuff!

  • i have an episode of frontiers of construction or sumthing from discovry channel, with part of the show feturing "the toy train" as it runns from darjeeling to i forget where at the summit of that railroad

  • Darjeeling reminds me of the long and wonderfull trip to India; in 1991. wonderfull people, amazing sights..... I wish i could visit there again.....

  • i am from bangladesh have heard about darjeeling it is since long known for its nature know bcz i was never been there. well recently i seeked only on the map as i am cuturally interested.

  • i used to go to school in darjeeling

  • i wanna take look when i will be there...

  • Dude! look at the guys put'n sand on the tracks! Truley olld skewl railriding.

  • :) Thanks!!! Any video of the 'Toy Train' will be beautiful and perfect, but you have gathered some great shots! Can't wait to go back to Darjeeling this year! Check out my video on the same subject- "Heartbreak Station" - hope you enjoy it!

  • Sharpe-Stewart locos - see my video of Statfold for more! If you can't get to India - try to befriend Adrian Shooter!

  • Great video! Wish I had taken a ride when I lived there many years ago... It's the best way to contemplate on the beautiful scenery.

  • Old British made train.

  • Too funny the sand grip device. Two men are actually spreading sand on the track infront of the train.

  • @hpept how is that funny it's a how they used to do it the engines were made in 1891 0r 1899 they weren't fitted with sandboxes back then the only engines the railway that are fitted with sandboxes are the diesels

  • how did you get so high in the line 'there cant be that many roads?'

  • Oh wow!!!

Thank you for that wonderful ride! :)
