Surely, Cloris Leachman, who gave a cringe worthy performance as Queen Hippolyta on the Wonder Woman television series, is aware that Stephen Colbert is a satirist.

Sorry, it just seems strange to me that so many people in this discussion don't get the humor. Maybe too subtle? If you watch Stephen Colbert, just wait for the show when he is presented the bears, and he talks to Cloris. This is great P.R. for Defenders of Wildlife - and what they fight for.

I had this woman in my cab in Key West and she was just as snarky, tried to tell me how to get to her destination and then told me she had no money...cheeky broad! ...It wasn't until we got her, her son AND his money to their final destination that I realized I'd been snookered by Cloris Leachman! ....So ya better watch out Colbert! =D

I have no doubt Colbert is in on this and has been from the beginning. It's classic Colbert, people! It's a wonderful way to draw attention to a cause, to get media focus on an issue. DofW has all the facts on its side, but they can't get America's media attention with dry facts. This can.

haha oh I see they added the word "lighthearted" in the description...they did NOT mention that word in the e-mail I got. The e-mail definitely gave the impression it was completely serious. But in any case it just doesn't make me laugh.

It sounds like you are a fan of Stephen Colbert. Most everyone with a sense of humor loves Stephen, and knows that an "attack" or "plea" for him is going to be funny. (I said a sense of humor, so that automatically excludes FoxMews, and the other right-wing spinners of this country).

@jihf Hmm...well I can't quite say I'm a fan. Stewart is pretty funny, but I think Colbert made a better anchor on Stewart's show than his own show host. His sort of sarcasm is practiced in 100% of his act, which is sort of how Stewart's anchors behave on his show, but I don't find it to work as well on a show of its own. So although I find some of his material funny, I'm not a huge fan, no.

I watched all three videos adressing this "issue" and I honestly cannot take it seriously.

I support the Defenders of Wildlife but this is one topic I just find plain stupid and unnecessary. Colbert is not outwardly telling america to go and slaughter them and it's a joke against FOX.

@SunWhiteWolf I know, seriously...like I am subscribed to them by e-mail so I got an e-mail when this video came out and when this became an issue (to them anyway) and I was like...you guys realize everything he does on his show is sarcastic, right? Like I've seen him complain about the "threat" from bears, he's just making fun of the mainstream media hyping the exaggerated "threat" of terrorism. Sorry, I must have not had MY cup of coffee this morning as I read the comments on the video. I guess I was just wondering why anyone would think this campaign was serious. When you mention Stephen Colbert and Cloris Leachman in the same sentence, it just seems obvious to me that it is meant to be funny. They are both comedians, after all, and what she says is very funny - she plays on the "Colbert vs Stewart" duel, for example. People should look for the humor in life.
