  • BRAVO!!

  • yall was straight but um yo man that wasnt completely jaco's solo i mean i know its lke you know hard and all but if you cant do it like him then it just dont feel right but everything else the bass player played was good just the solo kinda threw me off

  • good god the drummer sucks! he has no idea of what this song is about, and his solo is completely unconnected to the song. couldn't swing if he was at the end of a rope! face it, you four were more concerned with performing this song in front of an audience then you were about making great music.

the piano player is good and should have taken a solo instead of the drummer, it woulda been a lot more interesting. but cheese and rice i hope you got a new drummer!

  • @Harmless71453 I don't know man,to me it sounds like you're in love with the guy…

  • @Harmless71453 " Cheese and rice" He knows about Havona ,,,having been there.

  • Brilliant !! I wish I could play half as well as this. Jaco would be proud of you !

  • @addviper Thanks a lot! It's nice to now people like you appreciate what we're doing here.

  • THIS UNISON IS FUNNY.BUT GREAT!

  • What are the intro chords?

  • Dudes! Excellent!

  • great piece

  • backing track with out jaco in it im a bass player

  • does anyone know where i can get a backing track for this, i want to play it for my college recital!

  • Thanks man. It is indeed a tricky passage there's no way around it but practicing tour ass off! Start at half speed than work your way up to 130. If you can do it at home at that bpm, you'll be fine doing it live at 125 bpm - which I think is the tempo presented here.

  • @migliaribass Is there a particular fingering you find useful for the dual-line?

  • Really well done.

The duo line with the piano and bass ascending and descening is VERY tricky!

    How'd you manage it?

  • I've listened to those tracks since I was a kid and you guys really do these WP tunes justice.

    Great job on bass solo.

  • Thanks, I really appreciate your suport. It's a honour to pay tribute to this chalenging material, and I'm glad most people enjoy what we're doing. I invite you to subscribe to my channel , this way you'll be warned everytime I upload new stuff.

  • hey , awesome ! i wish i could play like you !

  • Cool!

  • Try and stop me!

  • Don't do it anymore.

  • It is a nice rendition....cool that you can get together and enjoy playing good jazz like that....I'm all for it....maybe someone out there will say 'hey, that's cool...what is that?'....pick up some Jaco or WR, and listen for themselves....the more it can get out there, the more I'm all for it.

  • Thanks Bengal Tiger - you go it, that's exactly our intention when doing this occasional get together to perform Weather Report's wonderful material. It is a celebration of sorts and a way to spread beautiful music.

  • For Real? Weather Forecast? Soo, Ya'll Couldn't Come Up With a More Original Name? Let's Get it Together People......(let's hear original solos too)

  • Well, the name pays homage to the group who's material we-re playing - not covering. Your comment reveals your short attention span, since you not only failed to perceive that but went on to ask for "original solos". Listen again. There is no note-for-note reproduction here, but a mere "quote" on the opening line on the bass solo, taken from the original, wich, by the way, was a quote from Stravinsky's Firebird Suite Jaco felt like puting in there. Hit the music school man, it will do you good.

  • Oooo....Served, Served, Served, Served, Served! Laffin' My Ass Off.

  • You did great job guys, though i miss some additional percussion & keyboards.

  • Me too! Thanks.

  • Wow! Great playing! But the volume on the bass could be a bit higher, I think!

  • Wonderful! Excellent bass playing in particular!

  • Heey evryone a friend of mine has a band called Weather report..... he says he came up with the name himself.....hmmmm. Is this band called Weather Forecast?

  • is ur friends name Jaco? Joe?

  • nope my "friend" didnt know I was recourceful or smart enough to figure it out. His name is Jerry but he isnt internet savy so he thinks everyone is still in 1980..

  • Well, unless your friend lived on the early 70's he is not the inventor of the name Weather Report.

This band is a tribute band, I supose. :)

  • Oh, sorry. I just realized what a bummar that comment was..

Forgot to mention, this song is one of my favorite compositions at the time being! :)

    Perfectly performed as well!

  • What a lovely childhood your's must have been! I wish my dad had Weather Report records at home while I was groing up I'm happy to bring you back happy memories! Thanks for watching.

  • Yes it was beautiful memories hearing this song and what is even more beautiful is how good it sounds still to this day!! Thanks for posting!!

  • My Dad used to play this song on high volume on Sunday's.. We had a house concert going on!!

  • Awesome! One of my favorite WP songs. Underated!!! By far. Yall did great!! Keyboard player what's the sound you had on top?

  • Thanks guys, I'm honoured. I'm honoured in honouring Jaco - wait, this could be a poem!

  • a wonderful tribute

  • very nice !!

  • Thanks Titus. That's the kind of feedback that keeps me going on. Your support is very much appreciated.

  • Cool man!

Great to see people still playing this kind of music. Excellent!

  • AMAZING song playe well

  • great take on the bass solo!! cheers

  • Thank you Beebebop!

  • Very nicely done! Thank you for sharing.

    Kind regards,

    Beebebop,

    Beijing.

  • Just excellent! It is wonderful to hear the great spirits of Jaco, Joe and Wayne (still as creative as ever) live on in talented young people as yourselves. Muito bom, Obrigado

  • Thanks a lot, Wade. Obrigado por assitir!

  • Nice interpretation on the solo! Good to hear some improv on youtube...instead of the usual note for note.

  • Thanks man, that's the spirit! At the end, this jazz... sometimes people don't get it and disregard this kind of approach as herectic. Glad you got it!

  • Can't imagine why anyone would feel this way. This band (Weather Report) is acknowledged world wide as being major innovators. I've been a great fan since the group's inception with Airto and Miroslav. (I guess that dates me, huh?)

  • i consider myself an accomplished [player but can't even get near this level on bass. many congratulations

  • Thanks guys. Receiving compliments from your peers tastes definetly sweeter. There's more Weather Report tunes (performed by this band or 8VB) on my YouTube page, so feel free to watch and coment. On the 8VB playlist you'll be able to hear/watch my own compositions.

  • possibly the toughest tribute band for a bassist to play in - Weather report!

    Well done, I admire you!

  • Great Bass Player!!!!

  • Thanks man, I appreciated that.

  • I liked how you messed with the A Sus and B Sus chords at the end of the form. Just have to clean up the Huge line at the end of the head... I know its hard for a saxophone.

  • You're wright about that... it's hard for any instrument, I guess - I personally have a hard time playing it on the bass and have to really concentrate everytime I feel the passage coming up! Thanks for the coment. If you feel like listening to other Weather Report tunes, check out the whole "Weather Forecast" playlist on my page, as well as the one entitled "8VB".

  • wow. that was brilliant!

  • Thank you, I appreciate it.

  • bassman...when its time for your solo step out in front and have the sax player fade to back....presentation is an important part of performance

  • I guesss that's not much of an advice coming from a guy who doesn't even have a profile picture... this is jazz my friend, it's not about looks, it's about the music - and by the way, the sax player does step aside during my solo. Either you're blind or just dumb. Maybe both, or maybe you just have too much spare time to spend it giving away dumb advice such as this. Try tennis.

  • dude, calm down. that is good advice. if some one is watching you presentation is important. its not like the audience comes there and close their eyes

  • Allright, you guys are wright abut that, but what I meant is that if someone listening to this performance still thinks it laks "presentation" he's missing the point - the "Music" is what is there to be presented. And I honestly think we did it justice, the best way we could. Had he criticized any musical aspect of it, I would most certainly have taken it into consideration. Be as it may, I apologyse for beeing a little too harsh.

  • The only thing I didn't like is that you didn't play the bass line with the same fills Jaco does. This is fine to make it your own but instead of playing your own unique fills you played Jaco's but not in the same spots he does. I really only noticed this in the first dozen or so measures, you locked in better after that. 4 out of 5

  • actually it wasn't until up to the solo that you started to keep true to Jaco's line more.

  • Thanks for your coments, but it was never my intention to "cover" the entire Wetaher Report performance. This is jazz, and it is in the spirit of the music to play it your own way. I would never play Jaco's line note for note, except for practicing pourposes- I see no point in doing it so, specially since I doubt anyone could ever play his lines better than he did... I hint on it at some points and I do pay homage to his solo through the first bars, but that's it.

  • At first I was like, Weather Forecast? WTF, gimmie a break, but hey, you played this song very well. I'd come see you guys play. It's great that you're keeping the WR legacy going!

  • WR is big shoes to fill.I own every album and have been listening to WR since I was a teenager. Good job. I liked it very much!

  • a difficult song 2 cover but i think u done it justice

  • Thank you, we're glad you think so.

  • Couldn't agree more. Very nice cover. Keep playing

  • Fine business. Congratulations !

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Weather Forecast? Huh...

  • Are you a Weather Report cover? Very Nice!

  • Nice work guys! Lacked a little tightness in a couple of places but overall a very enjoyable performance. Several places felt a bit empty but I think it's just the sound quality from the video. I liked the bass and drum groove a lot--you guys did justice to Jaco's and Acuña's groove.

  • Thanks for your comments. I appreciated and agreed with your regards.

  • very nice! me dio envidia!

  • Have you transcribed Jaco's line?

  • Not really... I did transcribe his solo, though, but recently Bass Player magazine put out a very accurate complete transcription of Jaco's performance on the original recording. I recomend it to anyone intersted in learning Jaco's artistry!

  • way to play that jaco! This is great

  • that was pretty serious.

  • very good

    i love this jaco composition

  • Dude, you play Jaco on a Precision :P

  • Who's the sax player? Awesome tone :)

  • Excelent work. Definately Jaco's finest composition.

  • I love weather report, It's morning, smoked a spliff first time ive seen weather covered. No negative thoughts. How would it be like to get together, play a weather tune. I would be smiling hearing everyone hitting their parts.

I dont think it matters as long as everyone is true to their own styles while still offering up the familiar notes and heads. Skill level is only a bonus, music is for all of us to enjoy.

(could I get a slow clap developing into full applause now?)

  • I dig your attitude :o)

  • begins to clap...

  • turn up the jaco rip off a little

  • this sucks. effing horrible.

  • Saudações Brasileiras! Bom trabalho pessoal!!

  • this was the colest of all jazz groups when i was coming up! weather report rocks!

  • i dont like the drums. its not a rock song. will someone plz learn the proper ride cymbal rhythm to this song?

  • Maybe he can't play it, or maybe he just wants to do it his own way, you jazz nazi; always biting the hand that feeds them. Nice drum solo. Dig the dynamics

  • lol, ya, ok. ill give him that at least. he isn't drowning out the whole band.

  • Really nice

  • che, la cabeza de ese bajo por casualidad tiene o tenia una quemadura como de cigarrillo?

  • I'm seriously impressed... you guys sound terrific. Just a couple of minor intonation issues.

  • saxophonist, you're timide, play harder

  • omg..nice..very nice..ok with the bass player and the bass line..no doubt its great..we have the hand of jaco on it..but the drum player..amazing!!he play at the right "coolness"..i think it's 2 centimetres over the others of the band..

  • Fantastic!

  • very nicely done jaco is smilling down at yall

  • very nicely done!! not too muchfancy stuff !!!

  • That one bar when its all semi-quavers up and down needs a bit of practice, other than that, pretty good! the word of mouth revesited recording is amazing, especially that bit when its just bass on the fast run..

  • putz... mt foda... o solo de baixo foi otimo, mas eu preferia ter ouvido o original hehe... vcs sao mt bons!!

  • one of my favourite pastorious tune's. nicely done guys!

  • the G string is out of tune, the B chord is suppose to be suspended, nice solo

  • awesome.... the bass solo was terrific too !!!
