This is a completely ridiculous race. They put Ford's fastest stock against Chevy's mid grade muscle tuned like mad, and Dodge's mid grade stock. Let's see the Corvette ZR1 vs. the GT500 vs. the Dodge Viper GTS. Oh wait, we all know that the Vette owns the Mustang any day of the week.
@UchihaNawaf not only the weight but the overall size of the car it needs to be a little less wider and a little shorter I'd say about 4 inches short and 2 inches less in width the car is just to big all together you can model them lighter with carbon fiber but carbon fiber does not look good when the whole car is carbon fiber.

anyone realise the gt500 is allmost 50K for the base? the 2SS camaro starts at 35K. for the same ammount of money, you could buy a camaro and send it to hennessey, let them tune it, and you still have money leftover. so, with the 2SS camaro, you get more speed, better handling, better quality, and, it still holds up with the GT500 right out of the box. and for 15K less.
@JDYDesigns yeah or you can buy an older gt500. i know for a fact 07-09gt500 sell at 30,000. shoot my dads mustang gt can pull 0-60 in 4.1. all it has is eagle f1 (gt500 tires) suspension, and about 410bhp

ok lets put it this way, the ss has 120 less hp than the shelby gt 500 and thats way too much difference of hp but then they grab an HPE with the same amount of hp 550 and it definetely crushes the shelby.......... so the question is, does really mustangs or shelbys need 100 or more hp to beat a camaro? just asking and btw both cars are impressive

It's called the HPE550 because it has 550 hp...not 600+. That would be the HPE650. :) And stop whining about Hennessey adding mods to the Camaro. Ford has been running to outside companies like Shelby and McClaren for years, so why now when Chevy does it, it's a bad thing? I think its because the game is fair. Personally, i like the old days of natural aspiration when Chevy always won. Like a rock baby!! :D

If they are going to do aftermarket cars...they should run the Hennessey Camaro, and then take a Mustang from someone like Fastlane or Evolution Performance, and run them. That matchup would be more appropriate. I dont really know what kind of aftermarket Challengers there are, but throw one of those in as well. Im sure they have one...
Well they say that the HPE550 makes 600+ HP...if thats to the wheels, thats about a 140 HP advantage over the GT500. Cause if I had to guess judging by the kit, that looks like a 2010 GT500, which is only gonna run like 460 HP to the wheels, and I may be overshooting with that number.

A stock gt500 with only slicks, a twin turbo, a larger heatexchanger and a 1500hp driveshaft can hit 1000rwhp and high 8s. Didnt know the ZL1 could do that.

Shelby GT500 rated @ 540 hp / 510 lb-ft vs 550-562 advertised horsepower 557 lb ft , will not pull a evenly weighted car like shown in the video. The GT500 was out front initially and the HPE was playing catch up. My thoughts is the Hennessey is way under-rated !!!!

Um no it doesn't the 2011 mustang as improved much with the 5.0 packing 412 HP but the CAMARO has 422 and the CAMARO runs a 13.0 1/4 mile time and the 5.0 mustang runs a 13.2 1/4 mile time. Just watched the video 2011 CAMARO vs 2011 mustang car and driver go watch it and feel embarraesed so being wrong buddy :). Ford fucking sucks and Chevy rules bottom line.

The market is tough now and the ford mustang and chevy camaro have been fighting each others hp and performance for years. It's a teeter totter battle. What really matters is that Chevy is reliable yet still has the power every other year to beat ford performance numbers. Fix Or Repair Daily. They circled their biggest problem.

@magnificent10304 No the Zr1 Corvette easily out-performs the Ford GT. Don't think I have no respect for the GT because, that's just not true. The GT was one of the best American supercars ever made. But the Corvette is just faster, better and more practical. In 2005 the Corvette C6 couldn't beat the Ford GT, but when in 2006 the Zo6 came out the Ford GT was no match! But Ford GT was a great car and so was the Viper ACR, but the Corvette is just better.
@magnificent10304 Continuing on with my comment, the 2012 Corvette Zr1's performance on Nurburgring proved that it was the best car and the fastest supercar to be ever produced by the big 3 (at a time of 7:19.6). Only other American cars that came close were the 2008 Viper ACR (7:22.1) and the 2012 Corvette Zo6 Carbon (7:22.6)
I love the ZR1 but the 2010 Viper ACR was never tested at Nurburgring. The model year tested was the 2008 which is very fast but the 2010 ACR lapped Laguna Seca almost 2 seconds faster and that's a track that is around three times smaller than Nurburgring. The 2010 ACR on the track is at least as fast around a track as the ZR1 but most likely faster.
@carlitod87 I don't think it would be faster, the 2009 Zr1 ran 1:35 around Laguna Seca while the ACR ran 1:33, if the 2012 Zr1 went up to Laguna Seca again it should set a new record of 1:30 or 1:31 at least

the camaro and the mustang are both tuned outside their original companies by known tuners like (hennessey for camaro) and (shelby for mustang). however, the challenger srt8 is an inhouse production from its original company (dodge) and is not tuned. so for a fair race u either pit all the muscle cars straight from factory production line against each other or pit the muscle cars from tuned companies (so for the challenger in here it should be a SpeedFactory challenger or a Mr. Norms challneger)
@byakuya42 The funny thing is, that won't help the Challenger at all, it's bigger, and heavier than the Camaro or Shelby. Plus the Challenger is a sedan not a "Muscle" car.

And chevy has shown that they can make a 600+ hp engine with the zr1 but it would just be too expensive to insure and sell. so why would they build a muscle car no one can own?
@pizzaboyharmony just thought that if someone would want to compare cars then it should be done within the same category. no advantages or disadvantages so it would be fare for everyone involved in that comparison. I realize that chevy makes strong corvette engines, even ford has strong engines like the one in the gt40 (the successor) and dodge with their v10 viper engine. however, those aforementioned cars (corvette, gt40 and viper) are not muscle cars but more the sport type cars.

@pizzaboyharmony I agree, and I've heard of that camaro and it should be interisting. there's a new challenger using the v10 viper engine from dodge but im not sure if its going to go into mass production - now they should change they type of the compared cars and mix it up a little - for example pitting the new camaro (550) with the new mustang boss 302 and whatever challenger comes up to the scene.
@byakuya42 man a challenger with the viper v10? that'll be a trip if they can find a way to make it fit. not to mention they'll need to stiffin the front suspension for that heavy engine. that would be cool though cuz i miss the viper. i'm a fan of mopar engines and the way they sound, i'm obsessed with the 69 charger r/t but i'll always be a GM guy cuz they're so reliable. my dad's had a whole lot of GM trucks old and new and the only time we've ever broke down it was in a Ford.

I did hear that the viper will come back in 2012, not to mention that new zl1 camaro which was originally to be named z28 as the old one. I do believe the challenger could be great if they lightened its weights and gave it a high torque hemi engine. I wish pontiac would bring a new trans am and for plymouth a new roadrunner.

anyone realise the gt500 is allmost 50K for the base? the 2SS camaro starts at 35K. for the same ammount of money, you could buy a camaro and send it to hennessey, let them tune it, and you still have money leftover. so, with the 2SS camaro, you get more speed, better handling, better quality, and, it still holds up with the GT500 right out of the box. and for 15K less.

If they are going to do aftermarket cars...they should run the Hennessey Camaro, and then take a Mustang from someone like Fastlane or Evolution Performance, and run them. But the Corvette is just faster, better and more practical. In 2005 the Corvette C6 couldn't beat the Ford GT, but when in 2006 the Zo6 came out the Ford GT was no match! @magnificent10304 Continuing on with my comment, the 2012 Corvette Zr1's performance on Nurburgring proved that it was the best car and the fastest supercar to be ever produced by the big 3 (at a time of 7:19.6). Only other American cars that came close were the 2008 Viper ACR (7:22.1) and the 2012 Corvette Zo6 Carbon (7:22.6)

I love the ZR1 but the 2010 Viper ACR was never tested at Nurburgring. The model year tested was the 2008 which is very fast but the 2010 ACR lapped Laguna Seca almost 2 seconds faster and that's a track that is around three times smaller than Nurburgring. The 2010 ACR on the track is at least as fast around a track as the ZR1 but most likely faster.

@carlitod87 I don't think it would be faster, the 2009 Zr1 ran 1:35 around Laguna Seca while the ACR ran 1:33, if the 2012 Zr1 went up to Laguna Seca again it should set a new record of 1:30 or 1:31 at least

the camaro and the mustang are both tuned outside their original companies by known tuners like (hennessey for camaro) and (shelby for mustang). however, the challenger srt8 is an inhouse production from its original company (dodge) and is not tuned. so for a fair race u either pit all the muscle cars straight from factory production line against each other or pit the muscle cars from tuned companies (so for the challenger in here it should be a SpeedFactory challenger or a Mr. Norms challneger)

@byakuya42 The funny thing is, that won't help the Challenger at all, it's bigger, and heavier than the Camaro or Shelby. Plus the Challenger is a sedan not a "Muscle" car.

@byakuya42 they've done a race with the SpeedFactory srt8 and it still came in last. the thing is just too heavy but i have to admit out of the 3 it definately sounds the best with the stock Hemi v8. And chevy has shown that they can make a 600+ hp engine with the zr1 but it would just be too expensive to insure and sell. so why would they build a muscle car no one can own?

@pizzaboyharmony just thought that if someone would want to compare cars then it should be done within the same category. no advantages or disadvantages so it would be fare for everyone involved in that comparison. I realize that chevy makes strong corvette engines, even ford has strong engines like the one in the gt40 (the successor) and dodge with their v10 viper engine. however, those aforementioned cars (corvette, gt40 and viper) are not muscle cars but more the sport type cars.

@byakuya42 true but next years chevy will release the new zl1 camaro which is said to have at least 550 hp. thatll be a good match for the mustang and challenger. and already i've seen comments saying that the Shelby can beat it but the Shelby is not an inhouse production.

@pizzaboyharmony I agree, and I've heard of that camaro and it should be interisting. there's a new challenger using the v10 viper engine from dodge but im not sure if its going to go into mass production - now they should change they type of the compared cars and mix it up a little - for example pitting the new camaro (550) with the new mustang boss 302 and whatever challenger comes up to the scene.

@byakuya42 man a challenger with the viper v10? that'll be a trip if they can find a way to make it fit. not to mention they'll need to stiffin the front suspension for that heavy engine. that would be cool though cuz i miss the viper. i'm a fan of mopar engines and the way they sound, i'm obsessed with the 69 charger r/t but i'll always be a GM guy cuz they're so reliable. my dad's had a whole lot of GM trucks old and new and the only time we've ever broke down it was in a Ford.

@pizzaboyharmony holy shit dude I thought exactly the same thing. I love the old muscle cars they're something out of this world - that feel that they have is just amazing. I did hear that the viper will come back in 2012, not to mention that new zl1 camaro which was originally to be named z28 as the old one. I do believe the challenger could be great if they lightened its weights and gave it a high torque hemi engine. I wish pontiac would bring a new trans am and for plymouth a new roadrunner.
