@GAP120GAP The technical data shows 255, but I've heard of stock S3s with 265 ... still not good against the 306 from the 135i, a reasonable race would be between the RS3 (or the TT-RS) and the 1M both having 340, even though they have the same BHP, the race would be won by the car with the best Power to Weight Ratio and Speed Shifting, which I think the RS have the best transmission.
It's only time until we start seeing videos of those cars having drag races.
This video is stupid.... what a S-line A3 vs a 135 with 300hp..... I have an Audi A4 and even chipped with exhaust and inter-cooler my car only pushes 270hp. The guy in the A3 only made himself look foolish. Sure the BMW 135 is a little rocket.... but its ugly... and its a ONE series... that means you spent way too much money...
obviously there is more then just HP, the whole suspension is an M suspension and about 50% of BMW parts are replaced by M parts. thats why i said its an M car. but the biggest difference is the HP. and the M3 is only a few hundred pounds heavier than the 135, but the M3 is still faster. And it isnt just faster in a straight line, the M3 would smoke the 135 on the track. the M3 is basically a street-legal racecar. i was just answering your question "is the 135 is better than the M3" answer: No
"Is the 135 better than the M3?" It's not a simple yes or no question...it needs to be considered that the 135 and M3 are different animals. You have the venerable twin-turboed inline 6 of the 135 and a high-revving, naturally aspirated v8 in the M3. On the racetrack, the M3 would probably be your weapon of choice simply because the track is the M3's natural turf, although the 135 would still be a potent tool. In the real world, however, many agree (car reviews in various magazines) that the
favourable powerband of the M3 lies in such high revs that one can never really fully experience its potential during everyday driving...you're not going to be driving around at 5000 rpm+ all day. The 135 has a ton of low end torque and the full power comes early in the rev range, meaning that the power is more accesible in daily driving. The bottom line is that the M3 and 135 are very different cars and excel in different aspects and situations, but both are excellent.
@domcho101 Shared parts include MacPherson struts in the front of the car and a trapezoidal-link rear axle. BMW has stated that it shares over 60% of components with the current E90 BMW 3 Series... I have not read anywhere where they are M3 components.. can you show me where you found that info?
Nice run - as expected the 135i is an amazing car. Should just call it a mini M3 - or is it as good... if not better than a M3? Think they're really close. The S3 is a great car too, but I think the 135i is the best deal for $40-50k range right now.
There's more than just HP. A Lotus hardly has any HP but it's so light that it's really fast. The M3 is a better car but also heavier and if you're going by money, I'd say the price $ difference isn't worth it over the 135i. But hey, if you could afford an M3 then you probably won't consider the 135
The 135 (and 335 for that matter) are underrated in terms of their HP rating. BMW says 300 hp but really those engines are pushing around 330hp, the main reason being that BMW didn't want to piss off owners of the previous generation M3, which has 333hp. Wouldn't you be angry if the new 3 series engine matched (and had the ability to surpass) the performance of your M-series car?
Yes, and add an ECU tune like the JB3 and an exhaust and you can have 400 HP to the WHEELS in a 135i - serious track capabilities then with good rubber.
@ramair311 Serious track car???? ... then why is no one racing them professionaly? At least not in any Series that is TV worthy. Sure I agree its a fast car... but why spend the money for a 1 series when you could have a better reselling car like a 335i.
M3 is not better, buy a JB3 for 500 bucks and you can say bye bye to the E92 M3 since the 135i will be kickin 380hp and torque, it'll blow the E92 out of the water, the stock one already does so.
@domcho101 Yeah... Like I was saying.. 135 with twin turbo =43,000+ I just priced one out online. I paid 6,000 less for my 2009 Audi... mine is not stock.. but stock for stock I bet I get more people looking at my AUDI then anyone in a stock 135i. And I can use that extra 6,000 dollars for larger turbo's, brakes, suspension whatever to smoke your 135i and I will be in a 2.0 A4. LOL even if you beat me.. my car is just cooler looking.
@JuergenGDB I paid 37k for my 135i in 08 - it has held its value fairly well being "year one of the one" up to this date. I've added 3k in mods which include suspension, tires, and engine tunes which dyno at 415 HP to the rear wheels. Your 2.0 A4 will NOT smoke a 135 on the track i guarantee that lol.
@ramair311 Yeah well they are racing the new S4 on the track.. I have never seen a 135 anywhere on the track professionaly. I dont need as much HP as you with AWD you idiot... do research.... why do you think AUDI has won so many championships over BMW.... its not all about RWHP you JACK! Your like most people... BHP=WIN... Wrong!
@JuergenGDB Since you are unaware of any 135is racing on the track professionally - look up the Berk Technology BMW 135i Street Time Attack Car for one reference - do YOUR research. Of course HP isn't everything, there are many factors in road course racing to be fast. From your many argumentative posts I can see that your mind is made up that your Audi 2.0 A4 is by far the coolest and fastest car available to the world at that price range. I sold my S4 for the135i and lap 6 seconds faster
@ramair311 Time attack my friend is far from true GT racing. The only pressure is from yourself... not the other car bearing down on you... etc. etc. etc. All i saw from Berk was yes.. time attack and drifting.. maybe thats your forte... I respect that.. but dont ever compare the 1 series to true GT cars.
@JuergenGDB Although I'm an "idiot" as you called me - I am not drawing a parallel to time attack and GT racing (although what specific GT racing are you referring to - American Le Mans Series, Speed World Challenge, Rolex Sports Car Series, KONI Challenge?) Last time I checked there weren't any 2.0 A4s racing in any of those series. But - you are the foremost expert on GT road racing. Have you ever personally raced your car on on the track? Do you have video?
@ramair311 Oh and by the way... I can get a 135i 2009 all day for 32,000-35,000 with every option.. What a waste of money... on a car that looks like a bathtub.
Plus it is so small it has to be classified as a girls car, just like the Miata...
To the dude below, old shape Audi was 225 bhp but a golf chassis so they were pretty wirey on the road, new shape is 265
That was a new shape 5 door s3, Videos pretty crap tho so it might have just been a replica who knows? Was certainly quick anyway :)
