I grew up in Tarpon.. I lived there for 28 years.. Now live in Illinois uhh..I promise you that paltka makes the best gyros and sulvlakies anywhere.. Gosh, I miss it a bunch, so many awesome memories..

very best Gyros. I'm a Northern snow bird and eat at Plakas a lot. Only about 5 miles from our place in Holiday.

And the Greek salad for one is big enough for TWO.

@wranglerx07 I live in South Pinellas, about 45 minutes from Tarpon Springs. Athenian Gardens has a few nice, mildly fance restraunts around Saint Petersburg. If you want a really great Gyro, quick, drive through Athenian's on Park Blvd, by the railroad tracks. Or Seminole Subs and Gyros on Seminole Blvd, by Walsingham Rd..

the portugese brothers still have a pair of big wooden boats they take you out in the gulf of mexico? they docked at the sponge docks i think 40 years ago, it was a blast- they supplied all the bait(cut squid) and tackle

I must have gone to the sponge docks a hundred times! I lived in Tampa and I dated a girl who lived 3 miles away from the docks. Now I am married(diff' girl) and I have taken my wife to the Sponge Docks many times. Her fav' place in the Andean store where she likes to buy Andean cds.

I love to eat at Snookers right down the street from the docks! Lots of memories...
