That's definitely rockin'! I did the same thing when my pedal broke, except I mounted the sensor just under the practice pad, and stuck the magnet to the beater shaft. Simple to do and easy to adjust by sliding the magnet up & down the shaft. Keep Rockin' bro!!!

If you want something to do with that extra pedel you can get a double headphone jack, plug it into the drum plug, then plug both kick pedals in and you have double bass :O

it MODERATLEY works. if your have one pedal depressed and try to hit the other one, it wont trigger because the circuit is already full with the other pedal. A guy made a cross circuit pedal in a video on youtube that made both work.
