I adore this dynamic staging of the aria and the playfulness and lightness of Natalie Dessay. Luciana Serra sings also perfectly but the staging is static and less interesting.
I was too drawn in by watching the movement (especially the giant dolls) to watch the subtitles. This is my third time and I've still only caught snippets. XD
@littlezelina I disagree - when the chorus is singing, they are very well in tune with the orchestra - however, she is slightly sharp. Don't get me wrong, she has great control over her voice and the runs, but to me, I don't think she can hear herself very well in this arena.
its there some books with partitures for soprano of coloratura? I need one or a web page where I can found some I would really appreciated because Im a coloratura soprano and I have to study this song

this is from live transmission from Orange (festival 2000) Bel Air media France 2 and MEZZO. I have this performance (6,7 Gb = 2 X DVD5). In my opinion this version is not the best, performance at MET 2009 is much much better. But Dessay is very good Olympia, it is no secret.
yes indeed.. she s a big diva´s opera.. a wonder, her voice is amazing and the performance is simply perfect because shes a gorgeous actress too.. a complete artist..
Coloratura generally applies to a coloratura soprano, which is a soprano who sings very elaborate arias with trills and staccati, usually in a higher range. Coloratura can refer for any vocal range, it really just means the type of singing. However, when you break up the soprano - dramatic, lyric, and coloratura - it usually refers to the highest range of a soprano.
I don't know about the other vocal ranges, since I'm a soprano myself and training to be a coloratura, but I hope that helps.
c'est super!

Is it just me or is she slightly sharp throughout most of the aria?
erinpickering 10 months ago 4
@erinpickering If she is, then so is everyone else. I think it might be the acoustics.

I love Natalie, she's great, she's fun and one of the best coloraturists of our generation. Greets from Berlin.
