All these people claim to know that the Freedom Tower will not be as good. Im not sure how they figure. Yes, ill admit, The Original Towers were beautiful but im thinking people are missing the point. Why would we want to build exact replicas of the twin towers if we know already what their structural flaw is. Sure you could reinforce the sprinkler system but in terms of design there is not much you could change that would make it stronger. The new tower is being built so deal with it.

The imprints of the original towers will once again show our country that we have prevailed, when it will be filled in and the new twin towers are erected on top of it and will tower over freedom skeleton tower. It will only take some time before wtc II will be rebuilt. I believe the politicians are playing in favor of the nearby mosque they want to build near the original towers. That wasn't exactly what I meant. To use your metaphor, when soemone knocks you down, you get up and try not to get knocked down again! Just redoing the Twin Towers seems to me like trying to go back to before 9/11. Bottom line is that I support the Freedom Tower instead of a World Trade Center II. I just think it boldly shows America moving on to the future with hope!

I would have like to have seen a new set of twin towers built at the WTC site. But considering the circumstances of the situation I'm just glad the site is being rebuilt. Its certainly allot better than seeing a 16 acre scar in in the ground.

The original towers were beautiful, and from street level, the main focus of the site seems to be the memorial, which should be the case. Personally, I think rebuilding the towers as they were would be slightly unnerving. This is just my opinion but they should have asked the American people as a whole what they wanted, freedom tower or WTC and built that.

The Freedom Tower and the American Commerce Center in Philly look too similiar and they would be just 80 miles apart. The WTC2 design is more iconic. It was horrible to see the images of the collapsing WTC towers anew, as yesterday it was 9 years ago. They say the the Freedom Tower (FT), which design I prefer above the former WTC towers shape, will be ready in 2012. Wonderful.
How could these terrorists come to this? Why do we spend attention to how we will redesign Lower Manhattan; and ignoring that in the Arab world complete cities are being destroyed? We created so much hatred there. Will the FT not become just a new target?

but now to the question... i think they should rebuild the world trade center because that would be a sign for real strength ... or not ?

Well, the tower is rising, what will the next course of action be? I also need someone to clarify something for me. Insurance claims for all the buildings that were destroyed on 9-11 totaled over five billion dollars, which was paid to the land owner! Is it true that we the taxpayers nationwide are footing part of the rebuilding costs at ground zero? If Donald Trump believed strongly in the rebuilding of the Trade center as it was, why didn't he make it happen? Freedom tower is ugly!

It’s like taking Big Ben from London or the Eiffel Tower from France. America no longer has it’s iconic image. The freedom tower they are building is a joke but great name. They should rebuild the same towers but modern with extra floors that revolve so that America has it iconic image back.

I dont think it would respect the lives of the people that died that day to put a profitable shopping mall in there, and walk around shopping. A NON PROFIT memorial with some info as to what happened that day should go up, a nice park for everyone to enjoy. That would be beautiful!

The original towers were beautiful, and from street level, the main focus of the site seems to be the memorial, which should be the case. Personally, I think rebuilding the towers as they were would be slightly unnerving. This is just my opinion but they should have asked the American people as a whole what they wanted, freedom tower or WTC and built that.

@wandaslice The problem is they can't, first what happened on 9/11 might happen again, if they rebuilt the towers then they would still be vulnerable to progressive collapse that occurred on 9/11, and also they can't because the new towers are being built right now. The new 7WTC is already finished.

i would prefer new twin towers nearly identical to the original 2. maybe darker in color, more glass, i suppose the tower twist is okay, so long as there are two towers, but there wont be, only one plus the others (the others don't match or go with the others, not excited about new wtc yet)

The Freedom Tower and the American Commerce Center in Philly look too similiar and they would be just 80 miles apart. The WTC2 design is more iconic. I also like the last line of this video........"The people have the last word, not the politics". Somebody should forward that to Obama because the PEOPLE dont want his healthcare.
