It is so sweet and sad when Peter tells everyone about him being HIV positive. He doesn't quite know how to brake it to his friends. That is the scene I would like to go and hug Peter. Stephen Fry gives an amazing performance!!!
I generally don't like Kenneth Branagh...But I have to say that this movie sort of makes me want to jump in there and give them all a big hug - Even Ken.
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that slowly obliterates the human immune system. Once a person's immune system gets too weak (when something called a t-cell count gets too low) they are said to have AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome).
back when this movie was made (1993 or 94) the drugs didn't exist to fight the virus that exist now. To be HIV positive was a certain death sentence within a few years.
Hugh Laurie and Imelda Staunton are such a cute couple in this movie!

No... aids is completely different to HIV... HIV can lead to AIDS in the latter stages.
