  • hi,i'd like to know if you know anything about replacing shock fasteners bolts when you replace the rear shocks on a 2006 chevy cobalt. alldata said you should use new one's when replacing the shock's...thanks

  • Thanks for the info

  • thanks Nate! appreciate the time and excellent effort it took to create such fine video. dennis

  • You rock!

  • very helpful video thx really profesional

  • Very helpful thank you

  • Nice example I will do mine 1972 Monte Carlo

  • Excellent presentation. Is it me or his voice looks very similar to daneboe's?

  • Why go to Gateway or your dealership shop and have them charge $200 for labor???

  • wow looks easy enough.. good video im actually thinking of ordering shocks and just doing it my self :)

  • Your videos are great. You are very clear and camera work is great. Thanks for all your contributions! John

  • what car is it

  • Nice! I have been watching a lot of these installation videos and there is a ton of detailed talk and when it comes to the installation i hear loud, fast music and there camera is way too close so i cannot see what is really being done. Thanks for the first good explanation that i have seen and good camera work that i actually see how to do it!

  • * pRotrude

  • Dampers* the springs absorb shock!

  • expert village videos make me go from :-) to :-(

  • The only thing that I do not like about this video is that he says to tighten each nut as tight as you can. With any suspension component it is very important to follow the recommend torque specs. I just thought that it was unusual to hear a mechanic say something like this for a suspension component (even though it is just a shock) since "as tight as you can" will vary from person to person.

  • What size socket

  • This is easy because the shock absorver is outside the spring.. mine is inside :S

  • I got that learned, now I just need to learn how to replace the coil springs. Man those are gonna be a bitch to do.

  • Thanks a lot for the demonstration! I had no idea how difficult it would be to replace my shocks, and this video demonstrated some unforeseen issues I might encounter, like the rotating shock when tightening the nut. This looks like a great way to save some money!

  • I agree, Expert village has a lot of "duds" but this guy is really helpful! Good, thorough, how-to video.

  • thanks for the video, seems its really easy to replace shocks. The ones on my Jeep Grand Cherokee are rusted through on the outer upper sheild and have 170k miles on it so i plan to replace them. Will save me alot of money if this is truely how easy it is to replace them

  • Man my shock absorber is inside the spring.

  • I just replaced same shocks on a Jeep yesterday! And I am a girl! :) Yay!

  • WOW ...... THat was so easy ....... I thought it was tough to replace a shock absorber!!!!

  • theres sonething bout a man and a car that turns me on excessively.

  • And now I know how to install a shocker. 17 year old male who doesn't do shit in school, now knows because of curiosity. Thanks for the video.

  • @HiItsKeven lol maybe u should do sh*t in school, i mean it wouldn't hurt u in the feature...

or u can go to school to do auto repair.

  • First expert village video actually worth a dang.

  • I like your beanie dude, thanks for the info

  • no your wronge use proper tourqe settings and use a wrench under the top nut when setting the tourqe..

  • I agree the best video on expert village.. You could actually hear it, see it and was correct.

  • This was very helpful. Thanks very much for sharing.

  • This guy needs to be in every single expertvillage video... everyone else on expertvillage sucks...

  • From the many clips I have watched on youtube in an attempt to learn to do some repairs in my own car, I have found your videos to be of excellent quality and superb content. Thank you for taking the time to do them and share them with the community. You have saved, at least to me, some good money just with this one.

  • save yourselves some time and buy the whole assembly only about 50 dollars more a piece if u have the money

  • actually, when I open my package that is not what I pull out... but I do see plenty of mounting hardware ... BOOOYAH!!

  • there is one way to install a shock dumbass. Id like to see someone, some how install it upside down.

  • i wish you could remove the subtitles, they're atleast 10 seconds behind..

  • @OriginOfStencil turn off close captioning

  • @OriginOfStencil ummm, just click the CC button

  • i never saw an important or usefull vids for expert village. but this is usefull and helpfull.

  • thanx

  • Went to the dealer to replace the strut of my mazda5. They charge me also for the DAMPER. IS the strut different from the damper?

  • Yes, Damper is different. It is in the middle of the front suspension, under the car.

  • hehe cup the rubber and make a sandwich

  • haha yeh that made me laugh to

  • Thank you. Very helpful. I am probably going to be doing this soon.

  • wish changing shocks on my audi 80 was so easy...

  • Piece of shit Jeep corporation's standard shocks intentionally come with a neck too narrow for vice grips so you have to buy a special tool to keep them from spinning and being impossible to remove.

It's all about making more money in auto repairs for these companies.

  • yeah dude I have jeep wrangler 2004 and I am with you 100%

  • Thank you man! This is easier than changing brakes lol :)

  • so easy a cave man can do it.

  • @xXwhygodwhyXx wow!

  • Did you have to jack up your Explorer to switch out the shocks?

  • i wanted to stop back in and thank you for this , you saved us over 100 bucks for something that was so easy. Thanks again.

  • when u open ur package.....

  • I like how he references how he has the arm strength equivalent to a floor jack.. =)

  • Thanks this is very helpful!

  • 5 stars

  • this is the first Expert village video that i actually find helpful.

  • @gtdodgeviper i totally agree

  • YOu're the man!

  • You could hold the top with 8mm wrench then tighten down with open end wrench works find.

  • Thank you very much I was able to install my shocks because of this vid. You rock

  • Spring and everything is all rusted. Was that car used in the snow? My strut and springs dont look rusted or anything.
