  • LOVE REDBONE RIP TONY LOLLY

Be proud of your natives.

  • I have allways been fighting the minorities battle... I hate the unfair treatment of all cultures, and I do what I can to support their rights to be living on earth... we are all equal.. With love from Kirsten (my indian name is "Little arrow" (not official))

  • AIM: Assholes In Moccassins

  • The Genocide of the American Indians by the Europeans in there lust for land and power is one of the sorriest moments in the history of man kind , and Custer had it coming , as did most of the white terrorists that illegally invaded the sovereign nations of North America , and most of the history books are written by the White Europeans who killed off most of the men , women and children that were already here , in there various sovereign nations .Certainly terrorism is not new to America .

  • My first Essay

  • The U.S. Military Achieves has a lot more than a detachment being entrapped...better read again... Read the novel, Rescue at Pine Ridge and look to the references...

  • Great song

Can anybody upload "Brujo" from the album 'Already Here'?

There's some other good stuff there also.

    It would be greatly appreciated.

  • I love this song. I have a Native American friend. He and his wife made me a beautiful mandella. They called it Wounded Knee. Its made from white snowshoe rabbit. It has red glass beads that look like teardrops. When my friend gave it to me I wanted to cry. I know the story of Wounded Knee. What we did to these people can never be undone. The sad part is we are still doing it. But in a differant way . The love I have for the Native American will never die.

  • When this was a huge Hit,I immediately saw and knew they were Indian and I loved them! Then I wanted to know all about Wounded Knee and what happened there,

it really broke my heart and the tears rolled down my face.'People' who do such things aren't human, demons, monsters!!

    Redbone,Loved their songs.

Bless the ones of Redbone who are not with us anymore, their families and friends.

THANKS for letting us get to know you a bit through your songs.

By the way the Lead-singer is gorgeous guy!

  • IF YOU DON'T LIKE REDBONE YOU SHOULD GO KILL YOURSELF

  • The 7th Cavalry was entrapped the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. The 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers rescued the 7th Cavalry.

Read the novel, Rescue at Pine ridge, the story of the rescue of the famed 7th Cavalry by the Buffalo Soldiers, and visit website; rescue at pine ridge. com. The novel embodies Native Americans, Outlaws and Buffalo Soldiers, in the days of the Native American Wars with the approach USA. Story is about, brutality, compassion, reprisal, bravery, heroism and gallantry.

  • @poshportia62 For balanced reading, also find "A Fate Worse than Death. Custer's, My Life on the Plains is at the Smithsonian and considered an important historical document regardless of the popular tendency to denigrate the man, who showed far more thoughtfulness toward the Indians than is commonly allowed.

  • @poshportia62 I read the official history. Isn't it interesting when details are conveniently left out of a comment like this? The next day a SQAUDRON (six soldiers), were ambushed and a detachment of the 9th Cavalry relieved them. This is typical of distortions used to propel misinformation and enlarge claims of all sorts. I am sympathetic, but not to the point of allowing historical and actual distortion and extortion over 100 years later.

  • They gave native americans a voice, made sure people knew the real story. Music is a powerful media, atleast now people know. Respect !

  • It's kinda funny, I heard these guys a lot when I was a kid and didn't realize until now that they are Native American. I just thought they were another funky disco band. Man, how great would it be to have that simple way of thinking back.

  • Try to find the Song of Questions by Redbone.

  • Respect to the injuns

  • Read the book. Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee.. The book should expected reading in every school.

  • @tumblne Thanks for the info, what's the writer' s name?

    Greets from The Netherlands

  • my parent's had these guy's records lol haven't heard these in years!!!

  • Really good, why have I not heard this before?

  • Thank you for posting.

  • Check this like out... THUNDERHAND JOE, while working as the powerhouse drummer for the recording artist Redbone, dazzled audiences all over the world. Redbone is the most successful Native American Rock & Roll band in the history of music. Joe's high energy and incredible showmanship was the driving force behind the band for 20 years.

He may be coming to the Netherlands in May.

  • @3dotsk8shop

Hey now... Thunderhand Joe .... It was a great trip. I love Holland. I will be going back to the Netherlands in Sep 2010 for a few weeks. I am going as a solo acoustic artist. I am doing my songs and a few Redbone tunes as well. Look for the dates to post soon on my Myspace website.

  • All liberals will say this video is racist!

Liberals are like rocks, they hang in the mainstream but never have nothing to do!

  • One of my favorite bands -sorry for their losses -their with the Great Spirit .

  • bless you,tony. we love you all,redbone.

  • Like you all I was totally a fan of REDBONE. The night Tony passed away, we were in Brantford, Ontario, at Alexanders, and the band, THE BREEZE played 'Come & Get Your Love' with MURRAY PORTER, RANDY & JASON MILLER, and FRANK MILLER. The SIX NAY TRIBUTE was thru the roof that night...NIA:WEH FELLA'Z!!

  • A sad,sad new : Tony Bellamy, the lead guitarist of Redbone has passed away on Christmas day, the 25th of december 2009. We all have a strong thought for all his friends and family.

  • Unique! Sharing National Sunday Law by A. Jan Marcussen=)

  • We don't fix things that arn't broken! What will happen when all that you see is gone? Will you know how to live with out your electronics? Our old way of life still exists because we know that end love and faith survive all things. Our faith in our six hundred year old prayer is not one of distruction of the caucasian. It is a prayer that they will change and learn from the foolishness of the past and return to being the true human beings we know they are inside!

  • Respect!

  • always

  • Redbone were great when I was young, many years ago. Where are they now? Bet they could still make some great music!

  • Only two of the original members are alive. But they have replacements and still kicking it as a band and playing shows.

  • I am really sorry to hear that. They must have died quite young? Who is still alive? Thank you for answering me, btw.

  • nozzlereturns, my what great use of the english language you have. You sure are a bright spark in this world.(Not)

  • nozzle, your old way of thinking is bullshit, you should not exist. indians could survive in the wilderness with tools they made themselves, you can sit on your ass and eat hot dogs while watching tv because you drove to walmart in your car, you probably arnt a very legitimate human, they were. they killed and raped white people because thats what white people were doing to them a lot of indian tibes were at first friendly to white people until they got screwed over by them.

  • The only thing the indians were really guilty of was not banding together to kik the spanarids ass the mexicans ass

and then in the late 1800's the calvery butt...

  • Well, Nozzlereturns, you just showed your ignorance! Let me guess, you're a gansta wanna be. Go back to whatever Nozzle you crawled out of.

  • this tells a story and we all should listen and take note.

  • Never heard of this group i love native American music this is certainly different

  • NICE! This reminds me of when I was young. Redbone had some hits then. Like it! Kind of makes me feel young again.

  • They worked "manifest destiny" into this song. That great.

  • I love this song and I loved Redbone.

I wonder what happend to all the members of this great group.

  • which one went on to join The Village People?

  • Does anyone know were we could get the LP or CD of Wounded Knee?

  • I have the 7" single. LOL

  • Cuacualtzin(Beautiful)! Macuilli citlali(Five Stars)! = )

  • What a great funky sound they make! Magic!

  • they will not let me comment on custers last stand

  • i think red bone are great

  • THUMBS UP BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE CAUSE...

    nite_owl

  • Hola Nachoareces, esta canción era la sintonía que teníamos unos chavales en el colegio atún en Cheste. ¿Estuvistes por allí?

  • Dec 29,Wounded Knee Massacre 119 yrs.

  • nice bas ;)

  • Any one can find out more at the web site... Message from a Drum, I would love to hear more from back in the day, very interesting to meet and see all the comments here. I am a life long Lolly fan, and love to hear about the Vasquez brothers, I appreciate Redbone the band also, they were just inducted into the Native American Music Hall of Fame this year. When this song came out they were not allowed to perform it in the US and headed over seas where they became very popular and still are.

  • @lunigal ridiculous,that they weren't allowed to play!!

I always say,a human being is called honest when he or she hears 2 sides

of the story and then make a conclusion...

Guess, when Redbone came with this song.... The truth hurts?

Hollywood made dozens of films about Indians and made money...without even 'knowing' the REAL Indian...That they are humans like every one of us,with a heart and soul and feelings, that they are beautiful and intelligent .

    I know,I respect EVERY human!

  • Mucho love from Fresno Ca, The Vasquez brothers hometown. My mom told me the stories of working in the fields with the 2 brothers and said when they hit big the city was proud. The band members was a mixture of Chicano & Native American but Pat and Lolly are Mexican Americans.

  • This is great!

  • I really like this. I wonder who wrote this.

  • Pretty sure this is written by Pat and Lolly Vegas.

  • "Wounded Knee" was written by friends comedian/actor/writer Sandy Baron and Redbone's Pat Vegas. Sandy wrote the basics and lyrics on an airplane, got home and called Pat, they finished the song that night. Sandy also wrote "Natural Man" for Lou Rawls.

  • I know they were Indian/Native American, but was never really sure about which tribe they belonged to. But I like this song.

  • Some were part Yacqui and Rillera was Seneca.

  • My grandfather is was full Lakota but I am mostly African American. I am seen by the white man as African American and treated as such. My argument has always been centered around the Native American. I have always said the white man has almost wiped out an entire race of people. Natives should be on the endangered list. A house divided can't stand. People of color should stick together or we will parish. That is the white mans long term plan for people of color. I love native traditions. One

  • I am part Cherokee and it was wrong for us to be so stupid and greedy to the native American. Very wrong, same thing in the South that was horrible slavery! So it's about time to realize all that and make up. God bless, Di

  • ok, iam white and from europe...and dont be worry...whites can´t overlive...because they become mostly only one or two children...look at bolivia...the natives come back...and that is good...you see, there is hope for the earth... thigs are changing and circles re closing, it is always the same...angie

  • @lordcron, don't pollute the treat under this wonderfull song with racist slander.

  • no but u suck ass hole

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone know where I can get some authentic indigenous prayer songs, like the type you would sing in a sweat? I have been to a couple of ceremonies but I feel bad not knowing any songs and I sicnerely believe the Great Spirit hears us better when we pray in the for of song. All i've been able to find is that new-age b.s they sell to gullible hippies and other wasichu suffering liberal guilt.

  • samen de belofte doen dit lied is voor allen de thora de koran de bijbel regeringen koningshuizen, toen dit lied kwam en nu, staat het op springen vriendschap maakt veiligheid en van veiligheid VREDE samen amen

  • super

  • Got the record love it.

  • The best Indian Band ever..

  • I didn't realize they were from India, always thought they were of Native American descent.

  • ha ha...funny

  • Read the book "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" by Dee Brown. The info in this book was taken from the national archives in Washington, D.C.

  • Were the 7th cavalry savages or do they have a version of events?

Remember there are 2 sides to every story.

Right or wrong...what do they say. Someone answer honestly and responsibly please !?

  • The 7th cavalry were white men scared for their way of life, never considering that there are other ways of equal or greater value. Man has always considered those who are different to be of lesser value. I would do anything to heal this pain from the wrong done to American Indians. Now citizens of all ethnicities are suffering what they did to the Lakota and other nations. WE are being lied to and cheated, poisoned and left for dead. That is what we get for doing nothing after Wounded Knee.

  • do you want reperations for Dresden too?

  • bad Americans !!!

Should appolagize to the world for stopping Hitler!!

Sorry native americans for freeing Iraq and stopping ethnic cleansing i Bosnia!!!

Thank god we allowed Stalin his free reign!!!

  • what a stupid reaction from a stupid american...the typical stupid one, that he hole rest of the world is hating...for his ignorance, cold heard, without any positive particle, no education, only bullshit

  • I would have to apologize, as Churchill himself wrote, "Are we beasts" of bombing an entire city full of civilians so late in the war. Yes, to many it seemed a necessary evil, but to many more, it just seemed evil. The war would have been won without that incident. But, Hitler did need to be stopped. I don't believe there should be any apologies for those things which were instrumental in putting an end to him and his regime. What were the Indians doing at Wounded Knee to equal Hitler?

  • hey lucy, you seem like a smart guy. I totatly feel for the Indians at wounded knee but I sometimes get sick of people using these incidents of a dumb commander from the 7th cav. to bash our country today. No country is perfect we certainly have our demons and skeletons but we've done a lot of good.

So yes, my referance made no sense and i hope i didnt offend.

  • I agree that this one incident would be a ridiculous reason to bash our country. The many other incidents that are not recorded, however, are. The way American Indians are treated today is the reason I get angered. People should not be downtrodden so that others can be lifted up. The black community suffers the same secretive bias and racial discrimination today, not just in the 1800's. However, I am certain that all can agree there are whites doing good every day. And nonwhites who do evil.

  • Your right. I can agree with what you say. And I know it wasnt just a commander, it was also policy and a way of thinking. I know if I was Indian I'd be a little PO'd. But you seem to have a good attitude. Move on but dont forget. I can also say this...Im white and my lifes not peaches and cream, im blue collar and have struggles every day. Being whites not everything its cracked up to be LOL !!

  • Let me clarify, I am a white american citizen. I am speaking from that point of view. The spilling of innocent blood horrifies me.

  • Read the book "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" by Dee Brown. The info in this book was taken from the national archives in Washington, D.C.

  • When he sings we were all wounded... I always took it he meant WE... ya know all of us, no matter what our back ground or blood. I thought the song brought out some pain and hurt and offered it up to healing, not ness. complaining about the wrongs done. Music heals. I understand it is also political as well as emotional. Does any one remember The Crazy Cajun Cakewalk Band? It was Pat and Lolly Vegas( vasquez)

  • Watch the "Interview Redbone (2004)" video. This political song is a response to Wounded Knee 1973.

  • Sorry - Chicago Charlie: Finish school, then come back and talk.

  • REPLY TO YOUR PUBERTY COMMENTS: Beating on your chest with your fists and yelling doesn't make you a winner.

  • Unfortunately for you, YouTube encourages public comments and free speech. You have no control over YouTube, nor do you have the authority to deny anyone free speech. In time, your curses will return to you.

  • REPLY TO YOUR QUESTION: The people you refer to have learned their habits through OSMOSIS: A gradual, often unconscious process of assimilation or absorption. EXAMPLE: learned French by osmosis while residing in Paris for 15 years. EXAMPLE: learned the concept of "Manifest Destiny-Racist Ideals" by osmosis while residing in America for 200 years.

REPLY TO YOUR COMMENT: A person who leaves discussion and resorts to cursing has the appearance of less intelligence than their opponent.

  • Enlighten yourself on the concept of "Manifest Destiny" (Wikipedia). You will then understand the song "Wounded Knee" and that Mexican's are Indians.

  • I'ts nice been White! I smell good, I have a great job, I dont have to hitch hike everywhere, But hey y'all have Geranimo so cheers to you.

  • Do not go thinking it's just natives the whiteman fucked. The africans got some of the worst of it.I'm a cross between a native,a black man,an irishman and a dutchman.

  • Hey yes, the whiteys fucked everyone they could, but at least the blacks have recoginition and equality , we are far from having that!!!!

  • Amen to that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • I don't remember saying I was 100% Native?I happen to be (If you must know) 34% to 50% Native. And no,it's more than 20,because the white man fucked over africa too.

  • i had some white the night i was concieved but when my mother ran to the bathroom the white part of me ran down her leg

  • Just remember. They didn't get ALL of us at wounded knee. They have forced reservations upon us.But can an Eagle be caged willingly?

  • WTF? Are you calling for all Native Americans to rise up against The WHITE MAN? Are all 20 of you going to overthrow the entire country? Please!... I'm 1/16 Cherokee. There are only a handfull of pure Native Americans left. You probably aren't 100% Native American.

  • that is for sure i go to ceremony & sweat lodge and pray for our freedom from white hitler
