  • What an irony, that one of the most adored and, yes, loved women of our time went so self-destructive. It makes me think about all that positive vibe stuff. Should it be worth anything, she must have been high on the happy cloud all the time without any chemical boost. Anyway, I am happy she is fine now and stronger then ever. No one like her for fighting the evil.

  • She's lost 50 lbs. so far this year on Jenny Craig.

    .

  • bi polar is like bein on a rollercoater 24hrs a day, makes u sick after a while

  • Carrie is amazingly honest. Wish she would run for Senate.

  • WISHFUL DRINKING was a brilliant show. Fisher's sense of humor is sublime: how 'bout that family tree sketch?? LOL

    Great interview--thanks for sharing. :)

  • I just wanna hug her: what a fine great lady!

  • sharon osborne!

  • i LOVE her. she's so awesome. i just want her to be happy.

  • when did she gain all that weight?

no offense to her i mean i love herr...

  • @IlovethemUnicorns oh well wieght sometimes just happens as you grow older....i think

  • Anyone think sweetypie000 doesn't like Carrie Fisher? Personally I think she really likes her... ; )

  • I love her book. One of the funniest things I've ever read. It takes a certain amount of gumption to be able to sit back and laugh about the fucked up parts of your life.

  • Those who criticize her obviously are not familiar with the nature of mental illness. I applaud her for her sense of humor in the hard life she's had.

  • Carrie is super cool and her HBO special is really funny and honest. Watch it!

  • she has a cool raspy voice....

  • she's had some terrible cosmetic surgery

  • @ragenut2112 couples with year upon year of self-inflicted drug abuse and late nights. what a waste of life imo

  • @sweetypie000 Just because that is how YOU feel doesn't mean that is how everyone else is supposed to feel. You lived during that time yet you know that no one in your school thought she was overly attractive? Wow. That's impressive. You seem really bitter toward her, and I am assuming you don't even know her personally. She is a human being and humans make mistakes, just because she had fame and she abused it and herself doesn't make her any worse than you. Calling her vile is disturbing.

  • at the end of the day she had too much of other peoples money and there was always someone to pick up the pieces.

I have listened to her audio of Wishful Drinking and it's pitiful.

she reminds me of my dad - too much money, drink, drugs, nasty to people and later in life making out the excuse he's 'bi-polar' or 'manic depressive' as the excuse he was the kind of cunt he was all his life.

The FACT of the matter is people like Fisher are born assholes and abusers of situations, life and people.

  • @sweetypie000 And you have never made a mistake or a bad choice or done something wrong in your life? Shame on you for your cruel words, they are hateful and make you look worse than her. She did drugs and drank but it's ok for you to call her nasty names, that is hypocritical and not very Christian like, if you are one.

  • @pabsk67 "And you have never made a mistake or a bad choice"

Damn, no, not CONTINUOUSLY and purposely from my waking moment to my end of day NO.

"Shame on you for your cruel words, " She has ,no doubt at all, been, knowingly, a right nasty piece of work to many people throughout her life and coming to a conclusion (escape plan) that the excuse is 'mental illness'. She gives genuine people with mental illness a bad reputation. her condition is 'over indulgence'

    I am not a Christian.

  • @sweetypie000 wooooow. you SWEAR that you know her or some shit. why are you so obsessed? why the fuck do you care anyway!? you have NO IDEA what it is like to have what you call a "mental illness" so don't you dare sit there like a coward behind your computer having no life thinking that youre all high and mighty. because youre not. so don't sit there and act like you know every god damn thing. cause you don't know this woman. OKAY?! :)

  • @sierrabreannnn i listened to her audio story and it was pitiful

i'm an adult, experienced with understanding these things whereas you are still a child and know nothing.

    :)

  • @sweetypie000 just because i am a child does not mean i don't know anything. you have no idea what i've been through or what i have experienced in my life, so shut your mouth before you put someone down for their age, k? :)

and secondly, you think just because you listen to someone's audio and read one book you know EVERYTHING about them!? oh okay, cause thats how it works! thanks for the tip :D

  • @sweetypie000 and BTW. I think I know a little something speaking as I am bi-polar. &you have no idea what its like. so sit there and act like you know shit just because your somewhere in your 20s or 30s or even 40s. but people like you know a days are very narrow minded and set and your ways. open your damn eyes every once and while. you might be surprised...

  • Imo the woman deserved a good hard slap as a child and even today.

She blames her own failings of repeated indulgence on 'mental illness'. Shame on her.

She's the kind of being that in the future will continually fake dementia in the hope that people think she's forgotten all that happened in the past.

Appears to me she's always lead a self-inflicted, selfish, attention seeking 'better than thou' life. A taker.

She has abused the lifesyle that was gifted upon her that others will never have

  • @sweetypie000 um. you do know she was bi-polar, right?

  • It's a great show! I saw it and her publicists asked me to let others know about the HBO showing! I gave a small review on my bipolar disorder website

    bipolarlovedones

It's designed to help people who are loved ones of bipolars understand what's going on. Hopefully her humorous approach on the struggle makes it easier to understand.

  • Wow, just saw it on HBO. What a funny moving performance. I give it a half a Jew. :)

  • Bravo Carrie!!! just saw the show, Missed it at the Geffen,I gave my mom my front row season tix last year. You are amazing, Thank you so much for your talent, bravery, and emotional availability. You have inspired, entertained, and provided a show that is without equal. Keep that killer smile and focus, it keeps you glowing.

  • @luckyvet But John Travolta is gay and killed his own son by taking him off the medication he needs because of his ties with the cult that helped hide his gay rumors in the 80's.

  • Terrific actress! Thanks for posting the video. I just want to let everyone know Wishful Drinking will be on HBO at 9:00 PM Eastern, Sunday, December 12th.

I was recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and I read about Wishful Drinking in NAMI's BP Magazine (BP Magazine) and Ms. Fisher's struggle with Bipolar - a real inspiration.

Ms. Fisher has pulled through and is hanging in - Way to go!! :-)

  • @chiriquiTV I have a website designed to help inform family members of those with bipolar disorder get a better understanding of it. feel free to visit it- I'm not selling a miracle cure or anything; just a grad student trying to help inform!

    bipolarlovedones com

  • @psev Thanks for the information and Happy New Year 2011!

  • George... get off your ass and make the last three before you and the gang get too fucking old... it's now or never, people...

  • The weight is due to medication... She said it herself, she's still so cool

  • damn she changed alot since star wars :(

  • this is coming to Australia, but i dont have enough money to see it!

  • What a nice person. I think it would be impossible to not like Carrie Fisher.

  • The video doesn't give her credit. She looks pretty good for 51. I saw her at CV less than a month ago!

  • I find this rather sad. Somehow on Sinatra it looked much better.

  • Carrie is interesting, but will always be on the defensive. Sometimes I wonder if the public eye will ever serve any purpose to achieve any closure with her sobriety issues? Mental illness is comfortable with no one. Still she never gets to relax with people who are on the outside. Will she ever be happy?

  • She should be on Inside the Actor's Studio

  • I am so disappointed that she looks the way she does at 54. You can tell she has dentures. I just hate how people who have it all throw themselves in the toilet like this. There is no doubting her intellegence, but she blew her looks. She use to be so gorgeous and beautiful, now she appears really disappointing.

  • @diamonddust22 Well, she's still 53...

Do you think you'd like her more if she had all the plastic surgery those other 50 something icons had?

I think that would be BS myself, and while she looks like she's gone through a lot of pain, she looks fine to me

  • @vid Apparently she has had plastic surgery. Secondly, 53 isn't old at all. There are women her age who look amazing. I just find it disappointing that people who have it all, beauty, stability, in the palm of their hands, have to throw everything in the toilet through useless and destructive habits like smoking, drinking, and drugs. Look at Lindsay Lohan, at 23 she looks like a run-down skanky tramp. It's disgusting, then they write a book about like they are some kind of victim & they're not

  • @diamonddust22 Stability?????? Are you kidding?

You do know that she is bi-polar and has had to undergo repeated electroshock sessions, don't you?

  • @viditor Yeah, drugs will do that to you. Anyone who claims to be bipolar is usually a junkie who is also an alcoholic, and after years of abuse, only then do they become bipolar because of the neurological damaged they've caused by their own hand. If you take a cat-scan of a person who has done years of drugs it registers as sevre brain damage. I am sick to death of alcoholics and junkies who abuse themselves carelessly then complain when they have to face their own consequences.

  • @diamonddust22 Sorry mate, but you're obviously very ignorant of both people and medicine. Bipolarity is genetic, not a byproduct of drugs. It was one my father's specialties in psychiatry...

I myself am sick to death of self-important people who look down their noses at others when they have problems. I don't consider them part of the human race, just part of the species...

    Good luck to you

  • @vidit No I am sorry, and I've seen it first hand. I suffered and conquered years of deep depression with no drugs at all, and lived on the streets for 4 years after a lifetime of a very violent and abusive childhood, so please don't talk to me about what you think you know, because I've lived it. These people acutally choose that life, they stick the needles in, they snort the powder, they drink the liquor. It's a series of choices until you can't make it back. Spoiled fucking rotten punks.

  • @diamonddust22 - The light goes on. I now see that what you see in Carrie is actually what you've been seeing in yourself. Your anger and disgust for her is actually displaced andger and disgust for yourself...in other words, transference.

You will need to find something constructive to do with all the anger and disgust you still have trapped in there. Transference is only a stopgap measure, and is actually counterproductive because it keeps you isolated from everyone.

  • @vidit wow man, I know you are looking for a project and some ego feed, but you better turn of your hack school of psych, cause you are way off. Everything I have ever went through is done and over and I have absolutely no problems or issues at all. I know you'd like to think so, but sorry man, nothing here. All that stuff is behind me many years ago, and your response was well predicted, as you are just another cardboard cut out of someone looking for project to feed your own ego. See Below.

  • @viditor So hate to disappoint you but there is no transference or projection of anything, because there is nothing to transfer or project. I've seen it first hand. People make choices to abuse serious drugs, and alcohol. Years later they are so chemically and physically damaged they need medications and therapy to help them cope with what they have done to themselves. Hey I love Carrie to death, but she fucked up and she admits that whole heartedly. I have no anger or disgust. See below

  • @viditor You are actually talking to a person who has written 5 Cd's of music, a book, built his own instrument from research and design. I constantly study and am highly involved in personal development everyday of my life. I'm no charity case, and I have no issues or problems at all. I am tired and have little or no patience for people who make excuses for themselves and their bad behaviour. They need to grow up and stop thinking they are the center of the god damned universe.

  • @diamonddust22 Fascinating...you say you "have absolutely no problems or issues at all", and yet you passionately identify negative things in someone who's accomplishments mirror your own.

Phrases like "Spoiled fucking rotten punks" denote a great deal of passion, disgust, and anger...it isn't an intelectual observation by any means.

It may be time to do some self-analysis again...JMHO

  • @viditor I know you really want to find things wrong with other people, and to search for needles in hay stacks because it would satisfy your bloated ego so bad. I don't passionately identify anything. I happed to have first hand experience and I am expressing that. I love hacks like you who have no experience and think because they read text books they are qualified to talk about shit. Disgust & Anger are natural things to feel when you are fed up with people's bullshit. See below

  • @viditor There is a large part of psychiatry that is fraudulant. They take normal behaviours in a human being and talk about it as though it's a disease, when in actual fact they are responses to their environment. Freud was full of disgust for the human race near the end and said human beings were nothing but pigs and trash, so I guess one greatest minds in psych needs more self-analysis? I am passionate, and I am not a self righteous poser in denial like you are. You need more experience.

  • @diamonddust22

    1. You don't have a clue of what my experiences are, so any claim about my lack of qualifications is hubris in the extreme.

    2. It doesn't take a Psychiatrist to know when somebody is shouting...

    3. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt...:)

  • @viditor Look I know in your world you are at the center of your universe, but not everyone has a need for your self importance. There is a difference between someone who is clinically ill, and someone who is a seasoned vetran at life. You are nothing more then an armchair critic and a glamourized pencil pusher in a 2 dimensional existence. Some people can truly find their way home from life battles. If you hear any shouting, it's called being fed up with chimps who don't evolve.

  • @viditor The only people you like are people that have a need for you, and people that you can use as projects for your hack psych. life. You are just another pseudo intellectual that try to convince people of things that are not there. What it really comes down to, is that you are in fact a narcissist.

  • @diamonddust22 Most of what you've written here is indeed a fantasy you've invented about me and my life, and you appear to be accepting it as reality. While accurate in some cases (I do love teaching), most is very wide of the mark,

I will finish now because it's obvious that you will not question anything outside of what you "know". But a final quote for you (couldn't hurt...)

"I will chide no breather in the world, but myself; against whom I know most faults" - As You Like It - Shakespeare

  • @viditor wow man, you are better then a Sci-Fi book aren't you? You are so self absorbed and into yourself that all you know is what you read, and you live in theories but have little or no experience of ever having to physically exerting yourself to make anything you say a reality. You just can't get the fact that there are some people in the world that are capable of curing themselves. To exist, you need, absolutely need to find flaw in another person for you to be real.

  • @viditor I think that in 97% of the cases, what you say, would indeed apply, but I assure you wholeheartedly that you are speaking to someone who is not one of your hairless chimps. I think you are stumped because you have run into a person that is evolved and sees life in it's most pristine. Some people do experience satori. You live in textbooks reciting words of people that have actually walked the physical paths, while you can only imagine it. See Below.

  • @vidit Decipher the illusions of life. See it in it's most pristine way. Who am I? Where am I going? What does this all mean? Can you answer those questions? I know that I can. Every human being living within their flesh and bone vessel, upon this plain of existence should be able to answer those questions. It is a spiritual journey that very few take or come close to succeeding at. I consider myself very fortunate for the gifts I have received. Ego has no place on this path, as it blinds

  • @viditor no one forced her to take drugs, she did it herself.

  • Woah,my name is Karrie Fischer

  • The book is very, very, very funny. It reads like a story being told to you by your long lost and fabulously strange aunt. The one with the hat. If you get a copy and can take turns reading it out loud with a friend over a bottle or two of chardonnay, that's a great way to enjoy it.

  • @cookietheviking

    are you for real cookie?

  • @DavidCarrick1 Yup.

  • @CenturianRule LOL uhm ii think ii know[: idiot. x3

  • She was 19 when she was Princess Leia. Time goes by and s___ happens. She's a brilliant writer and an awesome woman. I bow to her.

  • Since she had bad plastic surgery on her nose, lips, etc and got dentures, her whole look transformed. You only have to look at earlier photos to see the change the bad surgery did. She's hilarious though and always entertaining.

  • Well she is kind of normal you noob. She is my favourite actress and she really rocks. I like her speech for Lucas that one was really awsome. I just hvae to buy her book it must be very good.

  • wen did she go crazy? i mean she was kind of normal as princess leya

  • @TuRdSandwitch18 its Princess Leia not leya...

  • who is this guy???

  • She is a very funny person - I enjoy her interviews a lot. But oy - not a fan of that top she was wearing.

  • 4:48

"People are very sophisticated, I mean we all watch TV.." OK, umm yeah. She's still drinking, right?

  • I think you missed her point. She meant that we are not as provincial anymore and have a more shared cultural experience based on access to mass media outlets.

  • I think the idea is that everyone is exposed to the same level of cultural content.

  • She's probably referring to data intake, and how people are a little better exposed to what is on in popular media. We're not living in the age and day of McHale's Navy or F-Troop anymore.

  • @laceup1967 joke.

  • i still love her now

  • Funny how Carrie says she doesn't Twitter. She now has a Twitter page which has been verified. She has given in and become a Twit like the rest of us.

  • I don't tweet.

  • I'd love to hang with Carrie Fisher for a few hours. She must have an endless number of stories. She's lead quite the life growing up in showbiz.

  • She's smart and funny and real.

she married Paul Simon and she was his muse for a long time.

  • Out of her, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford, Carrie looks the best. Which is amazing... but still sad. She was amazing as Princess Leia and she got so messed up... and why did she put a picture of Leia on the book she wrote? Thats just sad... :(

  • I think she put a picture of Princess Leia on the book as an ironic comment on the way her life has been. Like, this is why she drinks.

  • So this is Princess Leia now... :(

  • get over yourself.

  • Shes will always be princess Leia, and, do you think she did not use drugs during those days to? for one using so much drugs shes in really in good health but i guess that have to do with her never have to choose between drugs and food, free drugs and most of the problems the junkies have would go away. as they then would be able to feed them-self, its not the drugs that kills but the lifestyle. search "carrie fisher letterman" here on youtube and hear what she have to say about her drug use.

  • Saw it in Seattle - really good show.

  • Best line ever: her mom says, "Hi, I'm Princess Leia's Mom!" Best, best line ever.

  • She is soooooooooooooooooo amazing.

  • She does remind me of Liza now. You can hear her breathing when the guy is talking. She's getting a smoker voice.

  • Carrie is playing Liza Minnelli in this interview... xD

  • saw this performance in Berkeley Ca. I am sure this will do well on broadway..
