  • @FUNKYMACGIRL : thanks! yes you can definitely make the character gum paste in advance. i make mine like 3 days upto a week before the party =)

  • @FUNKYMACGIRL

thanx now im jus wondering how to store them meanwhile..in the fridge or in a container???

i love to bake but this will b my first time with the gumpaste!!

    thank you so much!!

  • @FUNKYMACGIRL sorry for the super late reply. had problems with my account =( you can store the in the fridge but expect it to moist. you can also just put in any container =)

  • @Arielbelle11

you know i ended up making the cake(2 small ones a pokeball and jigglypuff) and the characters i stored them in a container..and as for the cake the fondant did allright in the fridge...

  • @FUNKYMACGIRL glad you did it!!! hope to see some pics =)

  • WOW Ariel.. good job on both cakes! Love the colors and your figures!!! Hope to see more of your creation here. Take care girl!

  • Thanks you so much Amy! I hope to make my next cake project this Aug. Tnx for always answering all my questions sis =)

  • OMG! These cakes are awesome!!! I love all the details! Your gumpaste figures ROCKED!!! The Mickey & Minnie are ADORABLE!!!! You did such a great job with the clubhouse! How did you try using the shimmer? Did you mix it with anything or just by itself? I LOVE your cakes Arielbelle! I'm proud of you girl! :)

  • Hi laura. sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks so much! coming from you it means so much =) I just used the shimmer my itself using a brush. is there a specific brush to use? also when i try to brush the cake with shimmer it looks uneven. some have more shimmer that the other areas.

  • Hi Arielbelle. Can you tell me which type of shimmer did you use? Was it luster dust mixed with alochol or was it a metallic airbrush color? Some of them mix differently.? :)

  • Hi Laura. I used luster dust but did not mix with liquid. Am I doing it wrong?

  • Hi! No, you're not necessarily doing it wrong... When applying luster dust (without mixing w/ alchol), try dabbing or blotting rather than brushing across the fondant... If you mix it with say Vodka, then you can use brush strokes.. I like mixing it with Vodka because it gives me more of an even spread... Know what I mean? What I would do is just roll out some fondant or gumpaste just for experimental purposes and try both ways and find a technique that you like best... :)

  • wow thanks so much Laura! I'll be doing another simple cake soon. i'll try dabbing the dust rather than brushing it since I don't have vodka at home. thank you so much Laura! you're an angel!

  • You're welcome Arielbelle! Try the brushing but you should also try the Vodka. I bet you would like it a bit better! I know I prefer that over dry dusting. I don't ever have liquor in the house but when I need Vodka I go to the liquor store and buy the smallest bottle they have for like four bucks (and then pray that noone from church sees me in there! hee hee!) :) I don't drink BTW! :)

  • you are so funny laura! my gosh i didn't know it's just 4$ lol. i will definitely try using vodka and pray not to drink what's left hahaha. just kidding. i don't drink either. again thanks so much!
