@Blurred2291 I agree, WTF is up with that? I know Weiland has had substance abuse problems in the past. Hopefully he has tamed his inner demons. You don't hear much from him in the media. I heard him say in an interview on mtv that he is a very private person.
@Blurred2291 No kidding! I have not heard of that one yet. I have always loved STP though. I bought Core in 92 and been loving them ever since.Has it been out a long time? Was it a good read? I read David Lee Roths book (Crazy from the Heat), Maralyn Mansons (Long hard road out of Hell) and Motley Crews (Dirt) They were all equally entertaining. Some crazy storys dude indeed.
@Metalmanmania357 No, it hasn't. It came out this past spring - I actually went to the book signing to see him talk. Got a signed copy of the book which was pretty rad. The only down side was that I had to wait three hours before he came out. Typical Scott behavior, though. If you are a true STP fan.. you definitely have to read it!!!
they came out with a shit ton of good music after this...with plenty of bomb performances...scott can still pull a good show (just saw one a couple summers ago) its just the motions of life that can get a musician down for certain performances, not one person can go 100 percent all the time...weiland rules!!!
this was a great performance.. i do wish that they had waited till after purple to do this show, it would have been great to hear some more songs, it was a very short set. actually they still could and should do another unplugged show! anyway cheers to all my fellow lovers of 90's grunge!
Look how healthy he looks here. If that isnt reason enough to stay off drugs I dont know what is. Wow! It's been a while since I remembered Scott looking like this. Really sad.
Heroin didn't affect him nearly as much as everyone thinks it did, he was very young in '93 and age catches up fast. You wanna see how a heroin addiction can alter our bodies, go look at some pics. of our friend Layne Staley.
That chorus rendition is absolutely brilliant. Spiritual, mystical, and psychadelic. Something only the 90's could have created. Love the original chorus, Dean Deleo's guitar riff almost sounds like 311's Tim Mahoney style, but something about this chorus, especially the ritardondo at the end is just simply magical and really moves the soul. Beautiful. Long live STP and the 60's, 70,s & 90's.
@JohnLawrenceCobraKai not trying to start an argument although I am very interested in the well known facts because after the plane crash Artimus started the Artimus Pyle band and then rejoined with skynyrd in the 80s and then left again to go study in jerusalem and got into some sex charges with his daughters at some point or another hes just a solo artist now pretty much, Eric Kretz has been Stps drummer other than the original drummer David Allin but that was when they were mighty joe young
Sounds great, the 90's were a great time to be growing up.Generation X,the Xtc in the early 90's,grunge and the best bands in the mid 90's,why the Hell MTV don't do unplugged anymore is beyond me,even Bruce Springstein was cool lol.Is this weilands natural hair colour? Never remember him being a red head?
I absolutely love all of the bands from the grunge era; Nirvana, Soundgarden, STP, Pearl Jam, AIC. I was in high school during the early '90's and absolutely hated big hair rock and then I heard "Smells like Teen Spirit" on the way to school one day and I said now this is friggin' music! But, STP sounds the best unplugged, hands down in my opinion. Scott Weiland & Co. are absolutely wonderful musicians. Scott and Lane were the two best vocalists of the era. What a shame about Lane :(
I like a lot your list. Did you think in spanish speakers when you uploaded Don't look back on anger with subtitles?. The movie of this title (with Richard Burton) people say is in the origin of street conflicts in England (now, in the 90?s, al late 70's with Thatcher...) I reallylike Queens of the stone Age ( from USA, I think) Saludos
It's so wrong to see Scott sitting down on this song, knowing that he wants to be up and dancing around. You can just see it in his face! he's like in a stray jacket in that chair. Fuck! amazing vocals and sound though!
Oh yeah and can't forget Andy from Mother Love bone... RIP all you gloriously tallented musicians we lost along the way. Thank you for the truely beautiful art you enriched the world with beofer you died. Modern Music has a LONG way to go before it come anywhere NEAR the level of tallent we saw in the 90's... I wish MTV still did "Unplugged" (hell I wish they een played music anymore eh)
@GrungeOfThe1990s Scott's voice doesnt sound the same, but thats good, if it did sound the same then trust me, it would be boring hearing the same tone of voice for the last 20 years. I just saw then 2 days ago 7/25/11, in williamsburg brooklyn, NY. They were phenominal, i was in the very front going crazy. Dean kept on looking at me and laughing. Trust me, your in for a good show, i wish i could see them august 10th. You lucky bastard!!!!!
This was THE best era of music... I'm biased cause I was a mezmerized teenager then, but it's AMAZING how many legendary bands were born then... Not since the 60's and 70's has so much quality come out...
@dettwideo Right on bro... I really love the 90's... I mean yeah there are some great bands out there right now (my Morning Jacket, the Black Keys, Arcade Fire to name a few) but it's NOTHING like the sea of amazing bands that were all performing and in general making music history in the 90's... Scott Wieland, Eddy Vedder, Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain... they were all true LEGENDS. Too bad we lost Kurt, Layne and Shannon Hoon, but hey at least we got to see them shine before they went eh.
ummm, are you sure about that? i've watched these videos countless times... i think his eyes say otherwise (notice how incredibly black they are?), he rarely looks at the camera, plus he was really fidgety. Either way, he sounds awesome in this performance. It's just too bad i have it spread out on 2-3 different video tapes
Some jackass said he sounds like cher when he sings, what a f'n moron. 69zenos, check his page out, his band sucks major ass!! I told him to do the public a favor and stop performing...lol
does the Thank You dvd have the whole unplugged concert on it? and also is this the place in newyork where nirvana did their unplugged set? plz answer!!
