  • proof positive the best things in this world aren't always advertised

  • I don't care if I can't be as awesome as Jason Becker or Marty Friedman on the guitar, as long as I have it, it will be my best friend :)

  • Jason, what a music talent and example to live at the fullest.

  • This is amazing, I like how every time i hear one of Jason's songs its so different from one another, like every song has different feel, imagination, technique and creativity. You have been my favorite guitar player ever since i heard the song altitudes rock on! : )

  • I would like to live in that street

  • excelente tema

  • 0.33 sounds like ..."Say what see", "It's good, but it's not right" - Catchphrase

  • You're both mental for trying to compare musicians who lived over 300 years apart.

  • so much soul. mozart has nothing on jason!

  • @ThrashIsBack123 You are stupid .

  • @Bassoonater try me. jason had about 3 years of writing and recording on his instrument, mozart had a lifetime. jason has a wider range of compositions, mozart does not. jason is a virtuoso, mozart is not. so if im missing something, please point it out.

  • @ThrashIsBack123 You are even more stupid for replying back.

  • @Bassoonater yet im the only one who provided reasons as to why jason is superior. again im not knocking mozart, hes fantastic, jason is better. so as far as this debate goes, youre not sitting well, and calling me stupid does not make you look any more intelligent. following the crowd and going along with the cliche of prestige and recognition is boring and childish.

  • @ThrashIsBack123 You're mental for replying back a second time.

  • @Bassoonater classical music elitists are very predictable and close minded. people like you ruin it for everyone else

  • @ThrashIsBack123 How so?

  • @ThrashIsBack123 who gives a fuck who is the best? mozart play a live concerto at the age of 4 or something like that. he had orquestal and piano songs composed before he was 10. of course it was a virtuoso. he was a genious. so is becker.

  • @ThrashIsBack123 Nice one bro.

  • @ThrashIsBack123 You're making an out of place comparison. Jason had a lot of genres to listen to and go through, but as much as a genius as Mozart was, he couldn't have composed anything in Jazz, Blues or Rock as those hadn't been invented yet back then. And still, Mozart has a lot of variety in his music; you can check and study his catalogue and see what an innovation he was for his time. Bring Mozart to the present, and as much as I love Jason, I know they would give each other a hard time.

  • what's his jazziest album?

  • @IMBACHABRI This is one of his few jazz songs. He was more known for his neo-classical work. But, his best album is Perpetual Burn. His later albums where mostly guitar synth peices, which isn't my thing, but I'm sure some people love it. Might wanna check out Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, and Allen Holdsworth. They are all good jazz fusion guitarists, though, govan is equal parts blues and jazz. But, give them a try if you havent heard them yet.

  • It's hilarious to hear those crazy wammy bar 80's pinch harmonics come wailing out in some songs, then hear this jazzy, classic, serenade. And then hear something along the lines of hendrix, but all clean tone, just groovin'. And to think he was barely 18! This guy had music in his heart just singing out of his guitar from day one! hmmm! Sing it jason! Amen brotha!

  • that 1 dislike is Moon mooney for sure

  • @deathwagon94 don't say the name she gets attention

  • He's a guitar God no doubt about this. greetings from Poland

  • I'm more impressed with every song I hear by Jason. He is endlessly creative

  • We will never have anything like this ever again ever.

  • thats it!! i figured it out! ive seen many people argue about who is the best guitarist in the world... the best would have to be the most versatile and be able to master all styles with god like technique... ive seen malmsteen only play neo classical and zakk wylde only play pentatonics, but becker has managed to acheive all of these styles without hesitation and all at such a young age... to me this guy is the best guitar player in the world and always will be!!

  • @jacksonshredder123 Zakk Wylde - Farm Fiddlin' , awesome track by Zakk, and not your standard pentatonic minor, but yeah Jasons awesome, just thought you should hear this =]

  • @F4TB0Y69 It is illegal to mention zakk wylde on a Becker video. Sorry

  • @zeppelin88ab Wow, freedom of speech means nothing to you I guess, I have a massive amount of respect for both artists, so I thought I would encourage this man here to see that Zakk isn't just a pentatonic masturbater, he has more techniques just never applies them for fear of selling out to his die hard fans =]

  • @F4TB0Y69 Oh so he doesnt do what he wants cus thatd be selling out?

    sounds like it already happened

  • I never commented on this video because I was always too stunned by the amazing sounds and feeling in this song to even think, let alone type.

  • WOw!! Yes , I admit it, i thought he was only a shredder. :( Thanks to Quotidian Hegemony for bringing Jason Becker into my musical radar! :) If U guys love Buckethead's music, do listen to QuotidianHegemony's originals on his channel. He's only 17 from TX but I think he's really got skillz.

  • and you all thought he was just a metal shredder (;

  • Wow, this is amazing o_O

He's still writing music today on top of it all. For the love of God, he'll be buried six feet under and still composing by then, what a f*cking trooper. If there was a letter before "A", I'd give him one of those with two plus signs in front of it.

  • love jason becker i dont understand why him by millions of people should have that fuckin als that fuckin shit that makes him crazy that he cant play guitar but nothing can stop him he will never die long live jason becker and marty friedman

  • 0:34 sounds like a SE from the tv show catchphrase.. ha. Becker is the king!

  • This song soo gives off the vibe of the good old days when you could still live from hardly any dollars the whole weak. Love it.

  • this is my favourite album of his tied with Perpetual Burn. The Raspberry Jams showed his versatility with music. He could play any style you want, and then some. Jason is the most amazing musician I know, and always will be.

  • i almost cried at how beautiful this is.

  • Jason Becker > Jeff Beck > James Bond > Jack Black > Jessica Biel > Many Other People > Justin Bieber + Jonas Brothers > Me

    Great song by the way.

  • @BeelJeitz You are probably superior and a more important person than Justin Bieber and Jonas Brothers, because you have the intelligence to appreciate and to listen to Becker's music.

  • @BeelJeitz no, you're better than Justin Bieber cause you're listening to Jason's music

  • @BeelJeitz I think you are better than bieber + jonas brothers. I mean, no matter how good or bad are you, there can't be any worse than these faggets put together.

  • @BeelJeitz Man you are > bieber and those faggots jonas. Everyone is :)

  • Which chords are these? Anybody???

  • @darklordguitarplayer the base chords are G7 - B7 - Em - Em - A7- D7 - G - G

    I think

  • @slashy04 Thanks, dude! Now i'm working on the bass and the passing tones..

  • this song makes me relax :D

    thanks Mr. Becker

  • So in his 3 year career, Jason conquered Yngwie, Paul, Satch and Vai, and now Muddy Waters. If only had time to do something to surpass David Gilmore. It would have been stellar.

  • @wifflwaffl What a stupid fucking comment. Shut up.

  • @gozhn Think outside the box. What if? You dirty little closed-minded dysmelodiac.

  • @wifflwaffl I don't think it's about conquering anyone actually. I don't think thats a positive statement. All the players that you mention are as good as each other in their own way. Credit to Malmsteen too for creating the genre. Sure there were others that dabbled but they didnt go the full hog. Tho JB has the best expression on his notes

  • This is a version for Basin Street Blues, guys, written by Spencer Willians and made famous by Mr. Louis Armstrong. R.

  • Si sente che non è un bluesman. E questo è il bello ; )

  • it sounds country in parts just thanks to the pedal steel effect he gets imo. There arent many shredders out there that can chill out and do a slower track this good.

    Yeh put them feets up

    Drink them beers

and make sure you listen twice.

  • sounds like a lot of diatonic 3rds/6ths at places but i havent taken a look at the music

  • sooooo, if anyone can inform me of the correct chord progression at the beginning, or point me to somewhere that it already exists, that would be pretty sweet.

  • 0:00 - 0:10 great phrase

  • on a carvin

  • no dude, he didnt played this, he had ALS at this time...

  • @quilmesredlager He actually did. This album was published when he already had ALS, but every song in this and in The Blackberry Jams were recorded when he could still play, that's why some of them have crappy record quality, since they were recorded by Jason himself in his home or in studio, etc.

  • Genius JB for life!

  • sounds like That´s life

  • Grab a cold beer, put ya feet up, close your eyes and listen to the sweet music. Fantastic

  • This isn't jazz, but it's one of the earlier forms of blues that shared many connections with jazz techniques. If you just listen to the scale, it's ALL blues.

  • I agree ,it´s not jazz, it´s a work of a genious,he was so creative.

  • i don't know if i can agree with you that this isn't jazz. But i won't argue, there's certain elements of the song that allow it to be called jazz imo, as well as the specific elements you hear that allow it to be classified as blues. I will 110% agree with you that it is a work of genius though. it just doesn't get any better

  • No, not a good answer, That's all JAZZY BLUES ok.

  • Genious,he could play any style he wanted and it would sound fantastic,it´s called talent!!

  • Jason is a master of all genres of music.

  • BLUE MONK is there!!!! Great Jason.....

  • And the best part is that Jason wasn't even predominantly a jazz player.

  • Long live Jason!

  • this song is what got me into jazz, Jason Becker will always be my favourite guitarist.

  • the other spectrum of musical brilliance, he is genius........

  • Its songs like this that shows Jason's versatility and open mindedness about music. The guy's a legend and will always be a legend.

  • wow, his use of the floyd in his song is perfect

  • i think at a point he switches to a slide no?

  • nah floyd rose tremelo :)

  • @Guitareben On a fender???

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe it is just because we lost him today, but I hear a lot of Les Paul influence in the way he constructs his phrasing... very nice... easy to listen to... And I have a great affection for this tune so that definately helps!

    RIP Les...

  • Yes bless Les Paul, what a mark hes left and at 94 make it to a good old age

  • whoa , this song... so simple, yet so awesome.

  • This is what I call..true genious.. his music was so mature... He can make awesome music with thousands of notes... But This Proves he can also make AWESOme music with a few of them... We Love your music Jason!

  • Soooo..amazing...beautiful...BraVO! Jason is simply the best...Metal..Rock..Jazz..Blues..Classical... He does it all..the way he only does!!!

  • How old was he when he recorded this?

  • @Tedericoe It says on the video description that he recorded it at the same time he recorded "Little Aint enough", he should have been 20

  • the second he finishes his first lick i just kinda smile every time i hear this song, so casual.

  • Jason Becker best all time hands down no more said

  • Seriously, who else in the world can come up with something this great of this genre, beautiful free improv like Black Stallion, an incredible counterpoint piece like Air, totally unique melodious wailing like Jewel, and full balls-out neoclassical shred like Speed Metal Symphony, all under the age of 20 ?

  • And to think there are people who think the Jonas Brothers are impressive musicians...

  • What????? who said that.

  • The Jonas Brothers aren't worthy enough to Jason's ass

  • @SgIronMan No one gives a shit. This is a Becker video, talk about Becker.

  • @fadetoblack1290 Soh-leehd

  • @blackspider0 im with you i think jason becker must be in the tallest tower of great musicians he must be in a special place in the hall of fame he must be famous!! OMG he is my biggest influence and a good example for keep with you life

  • @blackspider0 hahaha, so true hahaha

  • @cesargholem hahahah lol I didn't think my comment would turn so popular after a year.

  • @blackspider0 Jason... Jonas... See how much a small change of letters makes a really big difference? x)

  • @blackspider0 holy crap the jonas brothers are considered musicians????

  • THE BEST

  • wow, this is one of the most creative and beautiful pieces ive ever heard

  • wow, there is just something about jasons playing that makes him just stand out from malmsteen, gilbert and all of those guys. becker is musical brilliance

  • jason becker is true master. He has always been very talented master. One of the best ever.

  • talkin about talent, 80% of Jason Becker stuff we heard was before he's even 20 years old.

  • Talk about playing with feel. Suck on that buckethead nerds.

  • made in vancouver, of course...i feel it in the air....

  • this guy's versatility is unreal

  • The top 3 guitar players who deserve more respect, are incomparable, and true inovators are Jason Becker, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Paul Gilbert.( There is no order for them, they are all number 1!)

  • Jason is a GOD and AMAZIN innovator yeah.... but I think athough yngwie and Gilbert a GODLY players they are not that much of innovators....

  • I was replyin to skatinjif..... I said that all of the 3 are great players but only Jason was a great innovator.....

let me give u sum detals one by one if thats what u want......

  • Becker is a VERY versatile musician.... he has very innovative country chicken pickin and sweepin techs.....also his use of the tremolo to get a "outburst" sound was the first of its kind....he was also great at innovatin blues songs but with a death metal topping.... he used a reverse trumpet sound in his "serrana"... amazin harmonics innovation in "Images"...... and as far as u go with a composer's viewpoint, Jason's beats , elements, as well as variation is WAAY beyond malmsteen n gilbert

  • well malmteen had alt pickin which was good but his licks were text book scales which had been done by many gr8 players before him... and his sweeps were 2 or 3 string arps and his taps were....well not that innovative compared to van halen....

and Gilbert was good with his rythm patterns but his alt pickin was like malmsteen, Text book but his taps were better still, just like van halen did before...he hardly swept but he did alt picked arps like malmsteen....Jason is far more innovative...

  • Hello there. Paul Gilbert was the new guy. His heros are Van halen and yngwie(some what). Paul can sweep his ass off but over time he saw that everyone were doing the same thing, so paul then innovated string skipping, which is still an arpeggio like sweeps, but its an alternative. They are very distinctive, and much harder to play than sweeps

  • yea dude.. I agree wit u for the most ...but not wit what u said about sweeps...u may not be very good at alt picking and legato....so u think that string skippin is harder....but the truth is both are equally hard....

Further...I think Jason was wayy younger while composing and I am not only talkin about tech...but about composition standard, variation and complexity......

  • very true, although gilbert and becker do not have much of an age difference

  • well, yeah, but Becker achieved EVERYTHING between the tender age of 17-19 yrs....at 19 he got ALS.....I dont think Paul achieved nearly as much at such a young age,and so less time....

  • sorry dont agree with you there. Jasons sweeps were totally unique and very diffrent to malmsteens etc..

Jason lead with melody, heart and creativity. If oyu take say the arps in altitudes they just blend into the song and dont sound like a deliberate shred

  • 1madaboutguitar, you simply don't understand this situation. ALSO, Those who don't like Malmsteen so much, if he was not such an inspirational player then why did both Paul Gilbert and the man (Jason Becker) both do a cover of his song(s). Paul covered a couple of Malmsteen songs and Becker played Yngwie's Black Star at his high school talent show! You silly cunts are misinterpreting my words so I'll say it bluntly as possible for your ass. I LOVE THEM ALL, EQUALLY.

  • Urr, I didn't say Paul/Jason aren't/wernt influenced by Malmsteen. I said 'Jason' WAS original and not just running over the same old sweeps and WAS innovative NOT like you said

  • Malmsteen is washed up now though. He started slacking and thats the difference between malmsteen and becker and gilbert. Jason Becker has als and hes writing better songs then malmsteen.

  • well lastly , u should seriously listen to ones like "rain", or "higher".... SUCH AMAZIN INNOVATION....

Malmsteen and Gilbert are great, but they really dont comare to the musical complexity of Becker.....

so please try to study sumthin compltely before goin around postin such silly comments.... u only make a fool out of urself....

  • Reply to chillichomper : PWND

  • he innovate malms vinnie van and get he own style isnt that perfect?

  • feling blah and feeling bleeh who gives a flying fuck? ´This song owns stop bashing other shredders ffs you stupid assholes

  • lol

if you wanted an audience to cry from feeling just go in the bleachers and punch them

  • jason becker used carvindc200 a peavey custom a fender mexican deluxe , and a paradise jason becker signature

theres only one lil prob i have withh becker and ist a too much vibratio but it makes his soudn so unique truly the god of guitar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am amazed how well this man plays the blues/jazz. malmsteem trys to play the blues and he puts no soul into it... nothing there. this man knows it. i think jason knew how to play guitar when he was born.

  • hahah! i said the same thing on a george bellas video, and the yngwie malmsteen fan club is giving me the stinkeye and thumbs-downing it because theiy're mad that their guy can't play blues without it sounding ludicrous. becker will always trump that wanker yngwie...malmsteen only wishes he had such versatility and composition skill.

  • I wouldn't say totally that

but would you not say that there are alot of types of expressions of blues. Then yngwie has the barrage of noise blues thats angry, but not much else. but its still cool. but jason is def tops, no doubt

  • oh, there's no doubt the dude shreds. he's fast, knowledgeable, and clean as fuck...but it IS just a barrage of angry sounding noise and repetitive patterns, to me, as well. he's still worth a listen, though...

  • I wonder what kind of Fender guitar he was using? Strat? Jazzmaster?

  • carvin and peavey

  • thrasherkid2: it says in the description that he was playing a "Fender guitar"! So, it couldn't then have been a Carvin or Peavey.

  • i thoght you were talking about jason

  • thrasherkid2: I am dude. Right in the description it has a quote from him...

  • I can detect a lot of jazz AND blues elements in this piece!

  • *_*!!

  • I never liked jazz, but Jason somehow changed my mind:) It's so relaxing:) I just like it. He's God.

  • omg, this is not jazz, this is blues, dam, jason plz forgive him.

  • Noone has to forgive me, I know very well whats jazz and blues, I referred to the vast jazzy elements.

  • if anyone has to be forgiven its you for being such a dick. And btw it is jazz...

  • OMG, plz understand, this is blues, is not the primitive blues u always hear, thats why u say it is jazz, but, it isnt, follow the chord progressions if u want, or read the information of the video, it says it uses jazz chords but there are no special chord for jazz, just 7, 9, maybe 13 chords, but for using this i cant call this jazz.

omg, btw, just enjoy the music.

    srry for my bad english.

  • When people say this sucks, I cringe at their lack of musical intuition. I think it is fortunate for me that, after being a shred head, I also began enjoying so many other styles of music. You can just sit back and relax to a picture the music paints. I think that diversifying your musical knowledege only makes you a better player at anything you do. If you don't believe that, then look at how Dream Theater incorporates so many different styles into their music and see the impact they have.

  • i meant to click a thumb up bro sorry but anyways man i totally agree with you you are so right but anyways we need more like me and u anyways dude take it easy and srry about the thumb down

  • u sound like me i got into to metal music when i was little and fortunetly started listening to classic rock then shred then slowly i began listening to pretty much any kind of music that i can find value and im amazed by players like jason this is another great composition by one of my favorite players

  • The amazing thing i like about this song is that you can hear his own style and feel, and know its jason becker even though hes not foing something he ussualy would, any ways this an amazing piece of music!!!

  • amazing~! geneius song

  • this is a masterpiece.

    i love it.

    what more can i say?

  • see this is why i like the blackberry jams and raspberry. because he made them at home and he played whatever he wanted to play not just shreds. this shows his true talent. lets see the other guys do something like this

  • he could do everything... and he could do everything wonderfully.

Being very good at guitar is a thing. The talent of being eclectic and master everything is just another ground.

    The best.

  • very cool!!

  • aguante jason becker!!!!!! fue,es y seguira siendo el mejor violero....diego!!!

  • Simply amazing what he could and can still do with a guitar. And to imagine that he was "starting to know what he was soing" lol

  • nunca la habia escuchado!!! impecable como siempre...

    becker 4ever

  • WOW...this song sets him apart from the other cliche shredders....in a major way.

  • good groove

    good jazz

  • if having no feeling means playing guitar songs at a perfect level, then yeah..jason becker has no feeling all by himself in his ivory tower. ;)

  • Jason Becker !!!! what a song amigos!

    is so... so himself.

    Tanks to heaven for jason

  • the only thing different between him and randy rhoads is that one of the is alive...the rest...well let's say that they both work too hard to get where they were, and enjoyed a little of the results...excuse my english. if i mistaken some phrases :)

  • why does everyone refer to him like hes dead, hes still composing people.

  • well... I have finish jasin street tab on guitar pro if someone have Blue tab on guitar pro we can exchange...

  • Jesus, Jason is amazing!!!!!!

  • It isn't just the feeling in this piece. Its the chilled other side that musicians rarely ever show (cough cough Yngwie). Thats what makes it so good.

  • for all of the assholes who say that jason couldn't play with feeling, here you go, in addtion to several other songs of his

  • Hell Yeah!!!!

    You´re fucking right!!

    Jason´s the men, Period!!!!!!!

and for those who said that jason didn´t have felling, it´s my plesure to say:

    FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks!!!
