@tecnolover2642 thats true. this song is really based on a lot of parts in the bible. Most of the words are untrue for him now, i would say. The garden of eden is not really a part of the islamic religion i thingk :p.

@lance9772 I was a teen when Cat Stevens wrote this song (before he converted to Islam and became Yusuf ). It was popularized by radio. A few years later some of the more "liberal" churches started using it in their worship services, especially those targeting youth of the day. As those youth became adults it became more and more a part of regular church music. I don't know if it's been included in any hymnals since but it started out as a popular folk song like so many enduring pieces of music.
