Can you people let a man speak his opinion? Everyone has a personal taste of performers and music, so respect it. Plus, I know how hard it is to play piano, since I've only been playing for 1-2 years. I bet, by now, that she's an international virtuoso with a ton of money and has a name for herself. So stop annoying me with your petty remarks, unless you have proof that you're a better player than her.
Oh my god she made like 3 mistakes.. Incredible! i cant get through this piece without making at least a million mistakes. Of course though, I just started. Why can't I be like her?
OK, I GET IT. I know she was seven years old, and I can do the math to find the difference between Zimmerman's age and hers. Can you people let a man speak his opinion based on how he feels about the music he hears? Everyone has a personal taste, so respect it; otherwise it gets just plain rude and annoying. Plus, I bet by now she is a virtuoso at her craft, and I admire that because I know how hard it is to play piano, given that I only have 2+ years of experience.
@anonymous1461 she's 7 dude, she must have been learning how to play piano for 4 years tops at this point. How can you compare a 7 year-old to a professional adult pianist even though she's uber talented.
I wouldn't be so quick to bet on such a thing, because if you were familiar with Japanese society and the way they bring up children (including integrating music into their family lives from an early age), you may well think differently. But if we were talking about some phenom from China... ;-)
Yo creo que es un truco. Nadie, de siete años, puede tocar con esa excelencia. En una película, Tyrone Power "toca" con la maestría de Carmen Cavallaro. O bien, es una enana.
@KjarriRolla haha well you can't beat a european for real interpretation at the highest levels there are loads of asians but the real skills are Hamelin Volodos etc who are not asian
Well, it rather depends on the 'European' in question, doesn't it? (I speak as a Paris-based artistic director of international festivals for over 20 years.) In a nutshell, this child has the rare gift of GREAT musicality, and with proper guidance (from a handful of professors that I truly respect in Berlin, for example), she will learn to speak the composer's language as if her own, at which level of interpretation the artist's ethnic background won't make one iota of difference.
@eccparis i was replying to a stupid biased youtuber KjarriRolla not you and being just as biased to show how ridiculous the comments are about asians and to show how racist they were being by making such statements it wasn't meant to be taken seriously
@eccparis And i am a Moscow, New York,London Rome peripatetic professor of pianoforte highly regarded internationally also i consult to Paris conservatoire when needed
When you see ancient paintings you see those little angels playing music in the heavens, well one of them came here to remind people about true beauty. So immaculate kind and good is the righteous art.
@01EVH Sorry, but that's bullcrap. There is plenty of rubato and dynamics in this. At age 7, I would expect that much of the interpretation would be her teacher's rather than her's, but that would be understandable at that age.
As for speed, plenty of professional versions are just as fast if not more so. Have you heard Lipatti's or Perahia's? (Both on here.)
@kktech04 While I like the the playfulness of the comment, it really doesn't do this talent justice. Like the other commenter, I know this piece inside out, and I notice so many many little musical subtleties in the rendering (e.g. sudden legato melody notes in the B-minor part, some of the accenting, the pedaling + articulation on the long 'runs'); this _cannot_ be faked, it indicates true musical ingenuity and a love for the music. Some 'wrong notes' were even sacrified to this end!
As a Paris-based artistic director of international music festivals for over 20 years, I must say that your comment only betrays your own ignorance. This child is anything but a robot - yes she has great technique - but what sets her apart from even the majority of "professional soloists" is her tremendous musicality. She was born with this rare gift, already in great abundance before she turned four years old. With proper guidance she'll surely go very far, perhaps even become GREAT.
im twelve and i play this piece at her speed i even got into a school with a full scholarship with this piece but personally i think she does not understand this piece enough and no matter how young you are you will never be able to understand untill you are older. She does not understand this piece but still plays it well. You dont need to be young to be good
@luigipichu4928 No doubt there are several ways to understand this piece, and you may understand it in a different way than she does. I think that you will understand this piece differently when you get older... and maybe you will play it exactly as Aimi does in this video ! :)
@luigipichu4928 Actually, I don't think you need to be old to be good. It's true that I also think she's also playing this piece a little too quickly, and I prefer interpretation from older virtuoso such as Zimerman. However, I believe this is still her own interpretation of the piece and she is playing it the way she thinks it should be played. We all have different interpretations, just because you don't like this rendition doesn't mean she doesn't understand the piece.
@silentoperasinger Actually, Aimi's performance here of Schubert is full of passion, certainly more so than the other kids her age. As for her play recently, at age 14 and 15, listen to her interpretation of Beetoven Waldstein, or Chopin nocturne No. 20, or Chopin piano concerto No. 1 here on Youtube: if that is not full of passion, nothing will. No, Aimy is NOT an ordinary talent. Here technique as well as her musicality are an exceptional talent. That is one key to understand her.
@astronome9 She certainly improves with age, and the teenaged years are certainly those which develop passion in music. She'll have a wonderful future as a performer; however, my statement still stands. I would love to see an amazing young talent like this turn from concentration on performance technique to focus on innovation!
@cristeny: I'm an old man now, I know this piece well, I play this myself, I have heard it played many times over the course of many years by most of the greats, and I have to say that I have never heard it played more to my liking than by Aimi here on YouTube, when she was only 7 years old. She just has exceptional talent. She plays wonderfully.
@cristeny I thought about it. The combination of this interpretation and this little child is more than mindblowing, it is kind of scary. And may be some suspect psychic or social deformation as in the case of Jacko.
