  • wasn't there an underwater camera to see while it was going down? that would be awesome…

  • would someone please tell that bitch talking to shut the fuck up.

  • the fucking smoke covers the whole thing

  • You can get a nice look at this ship's exterior from every angle in the movie "Virus" with Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Sutherland, etc. Looked a little beat up, but it's hard to believe that these big beautiful ships serve no other purpose than as coral reef cores. Looked pretty cool in the movie, as though it could have been retrofitted as a cruise ship, rather than sink it.

  • Pretty awesome, but the smoke from the bombs started getting in the way. D:

  • looks cool or whatever but there are extreme consequences- shouldn't do this type of stuff

  • It would be cool if they had cameras inside to see how the flooding looks and recover it after its plunge.

  • lame , i'd thought I would see more like a titanic sink :D this is just slowly going down all at once

  • @Nelieciamasis lol i agree it would a have been so cool if they had just placed bombs at either only the bow or stern. ok it would be totally useless, but much more fun ^^

  • I dove this yesterday with 80' vis. Lots of marine life and a must see if visiting/diving Key West!

  • I can only give you a relatively small window of years 1970 thru 1972.

The Vandenberg was our floating radar station for the ABM tests on a coral atoll in the North Central Pacific.

Of course you can deduce the location, but that's up to you.

I was always personally impressed with the beauty of this ship at dock. Gleaming white with radar equipment bristling.

  • I just dove this ship last week. AWESOME! Get a guide so they can maximize your time and take you INSIDE the ship. You'll see more and enjoy it more. You must dive her at least 5 times to take it all in though. It's too big and too deep to see it all on one dive.

  • Beautiful white ship with a significant mission in the early 70s.

I tried to say more, but YouTube keeps cutting me off.

  • I dove this the other day and its sooo sooo awesome!! Cant wait till all the fish start coming around

  • Making reservation at Lost Reef Adventures TODAY! Can't wait to dive her!

  • AWESOMEEEEEE!! The Vandenberg is a great dive!! Lost Reef ran a great trip, as always, and I can't wait to dive it again, and again, and again, and again and then again in the years to come!!!!!

  • haha i just got back from diving the vandenberg from lost reef charters. they did a really good job.

    current was ripping though...

  • cant wait to muff dive her this weekend.

  • Too bad the City of Key West and Reefmakers screwed the shipyard who did the work cleaning all the hazardous material out of the ship out of $600K. by not paying their bill!

  • They chose to auction it!

  • Scary shit! Abandon ship! Abandon ship!

  • i watched this from the high school i climbed up on the auditorium and had a camera...zoomed in and got teh whole shot it was pretty cool

  • Thanks! Too bad they were downwind and the smoke obscured the view, but thanks for posting!

  • yahoo!!!!!!!!! finally! good job joe and all!! we'll be diving her this weekend, come out with lost reef adventures!

  • Definately the best video as of 4:30 pm. Thanks for posting!!!

  • This is the best 'sinking' video out at this time. Very clear and steady. Can't wait to dive her. Clean job sinking the Vandenberg, as opposed to the Speigal Grove screw-up. Thanks for posting this.

  • Way Cool!!! On the way meet Davy Jones.
