Ive seen things you people wouldnt beleive, attack ships on fire of the shoulder or Orion. I watched C- Beams, glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time. Like tears in rain.
“I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.” – Roy Batty, Blade Runner (1982)
I only saw this advert once on TV and swore it was Rutger Hauer. I even got into a little argument with my friend over it. Next time it comes up I'll switch sides and convince him it was me claiming this advert starred Anthony Hopkins all along.
Agree'd, Bladerunner is one of the best scifi's ever made. I love this advert, the music, the setting, Mr Hopkins and I even find the female narrator's voice very calming. Good stuff :)
What are you talking about? He even says "in Blade Runner a scene with Rutger Hauer". In the longer advert he quotes Gloria Swanson from Sunset Boulevard.
Don't be ridiculous. Just because it's Hopkins, doesn't mean it's better. Nobody can better Rutger Hauer's delivery of that monologue just like no-one can better Hopkins' "I ate her liver..." speach. They both broke the mould with those two characters.
yea i went and watched the movie afterwards and realised i had made abit of an over statement and its ''i ate 'his' liver'' talking about the census man who trys to test him
Ruining a good film, nice. Has anyone uploaded the one where he quotes from The Shining? Gets it all wrong obviously, the scene he recounts happens in the toilet not at the bar: "You are the caretaker...."
i love the nite driving add also. mty girlfriend thinks im weird coz i cant give her a reason why i do, its just co it seems like u are free, if u get me
I agree completely! Just the way he quotes everything so perfectly and the music... wow! I'd love to be able to play that, anyone know what its called?? But i agree, superb! =)
ah thanks man, if that doesnt work out then i'll just sit in a dark room with this song playing until suddenly my brain says "hey! i can play this now!" (not gonna happen) :)
Anthony Hopkins has a gd voice but that is not the best thing about this advert, the music is, it is such a peaceful piano peice and i cannot wait to learn it!!!!!
I think it was a good advert and i'm glad hopkins didn't put too much emotion into it, nobody will ever be able to get even close to the original and i think hopkins knew that so didn't try. The ad will remind people of one of the greatest speeches in film history.
not really because if you think this ad is about capuring moments etc.., and therfore the example given in the form of this quote is really quite well chosen.
Except that he's not trying to recreate the scene - he's just showing us what it's like to relive a classic movie moment in your head (something I'm sure we all do everyday - it's just that Anthony Hopkins can deliver it with beautiful, consummate ease).
The irony is that this video isn't in high definition at all.

Is it wrong to prefer this version to Rutger Hauer's? I prefer Hopkin's intonation.

Every time he says the last two lines, I start to cry a little. Just the way he says it then the beaming smile afterwards just kills me.
