  • Scott this was great! However my wife suggested to cook the bacon more to the crispy side and after making it again with the bacon pieces crisper it really was good.

    Thanks again!!

  • Everytime I Think of grits, I think of "My Cousin Vinnie".

  • thanks for the video. I shall try cooking this.

  • Great recipe, Scooter!!

I'm from Charleston,South Carolina and I can certainly say that Shrimp and Grits IS a southern classic from the Low Country.

I make this with yellow grits, and a tomato-based sauce. Simply delicious.

  • I have lived in Savannah /Tybee Island all my life and Shirmp and Grits was a weekly meal at our house. This is an awesome recipe! For ya'll non southerners dont forget to salt your girts when you add them to the boiling water or they will never taste right ;-)

  • AWESOME!!!

  • awesome! thanks

  • Man that looks good. I might throw in some mushrooms too.

  • maybe your neighbor isn't from Georgia. This is a southern recipe and your neighbor is a turd.

  • My neighbor from Georgia says he's never heard of shrimp and grits and it's not southern food. I said it is, but since I am from Jersey, he won't believe a word I say. Go figure.

  • it is it originated in coastal south carolina its a regional taste in carolina coastal areas

  • mmm classic southern oceanfront meal, reminds me of Savannah

  • I have never had anything like this, but it looks really good. I'm going to have to try it! Thanks for the recipes!

  • Hi Scott: LUV your seafood recipes! Ever cooked monk fish? I just launched my own YouTube cooking show and would be thrilled to get your thoughts on cooking exotic fish.

  • I love shrimp and grits. Usually people can't imagine mixing shrimp with grits until they try them. Then, they're hooked. Good for breakfast, too.

I use half milk and half chicken broth instead of water to cook my grits. I also add about 1/4 cup of diced canned tomatoes with juice to the sauce.

Fantastic recipe. Thanks for making a great video!

  • That look really REALLY good!!! I will be making this. Thanks for sharing!!

  • your videos are comforting, bring about feelings of nostalgia for my mother's cooking

  • thank you, will make this tomorrow.i was tired of same old shrimp and pasta recipes.

  • I'm making this tonight - really!

  • Looks nice...too bad I can't eat seafood.

  • Yum!

  • Looks great!! It's nice to see you. I haven't seen a new video for a while.

  • Wow you're back! Thank you for this, I love watching you cook, and the presentation is always great. We don't have grits here in Australia but I'll certainly try it when I go back to the US.

  • You can substitute polenta (cook according to package directions) for the grits...

  • thank you, I thought it looked similar. I'll try this.

  • This sounds so good!!! Thank you for always sharing really tasty ideas!!

    Rebecca
