how come during the stretching portion of the video, you don't just hold it there for 15 seconds (or so)? Is it more range of motion, and if that is the case, how many should you do 3, or more?
What science is Static Stretching based on? performance will be decreased with passive stretching (Holding stretches between 15-60 seconds), is because of the Localized Ischemia* built up in the muscle, which turn increases the waste products in the muscle. So now the body has to work and spend energy to get rid of the by products that are produced in the muscle when there is not enough oxygen in the muscle. When stretching 30-60 seconds or longer YOU are Starving the muscle!
Greatings Jdc33 i own the AIS book by mattes. But i would like to about hear if your experience with AIS. well actual, i would like to know if ONLY doing ais will achieve my goal of
1. High kicks
2. Really really good range of motion static and dynamic. by which i mean like splits, etc...
i'm 24 actively exercise and weight lift but im really really inflexible and can don't want to latch onto a impossible dream so dont suger coat it
