Are the joints that the cups pivot on made of plastic or metal? Most headsets with that design that I've owned have snapped on my head within a year of use.

@Aiidata Hiya, this wont work on the PS3 as it needs drivers to run it but the PS3 doesn't have the needed ones and it can't have them due to the way it is made (same for Xbox and Wii). However there is a PS3 alternative but then it doesn't have the surround sound feature but does feature wireless. Its the Logitech F540 (sorry can't post a link to it in here).

Is the USB-cable only for charging or does it transmit data/sound as well? In other words, can you use the headset without sending radio? I am looking for a wireless headset, but I don´t want everyone with a radio receiver to listen in on every conversation I have. I don´t mind anyone listening when I play games, but I would appreciate some privacy when talking (dirty) to my girlfriend.

So is this headset always wireless (sending radio signals) or can it be used with the USB-cable as well?

@Wittmann81 People would only be able to listen to you with a radio if they could tune into 2.4 ghz and decode the digital encoding. So unless you're under surveillance by the NSA and communicating with your local sleeper cell over Skype, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Great review, lots of useful information. I plan on buying this headset on Monday. I've been watching videos on headsets for the last few hours and this just seems to come out ahead of the rest. Plus I have a coupon for 50% off at Logitech's website. I do have one question though. I recently bought a Logitech M570 trackball mouse, and I was wondering if it would also connect to the receiver that comes with this headset? If so, that would be very helpful and save me a USB slot. Thanks.

@Draken8 Hiya, thanks for the great comment, im really not sure but I highly doubt you could you the receiver for the headset for the mouse also but you would have to try it. I do recommend a USB hub though if your running short on USB ports.

@Telekine5i5 Hiya, Sidetone basically lets you hear your microphone through the headset. Its designed to do this as some people hate the feeling of having a headset that is so good at blocking out noise that they can't even hear themselves speak, just like speaking and pushing your hands over your ears. So sidetone lets you hear yourself by playing your voice back to you but in a subtle way and works really well.

@MrDISCOMB0BULATE Hiya, yeh they work with all audio and will try to make everything surround however some videos and content only support stereo so flip a switch on the headset and they convert to stereo.
