How do you fit the paracord through the lanyard hole on the knives? Most of my knives won't fit the 550 cord.

@bolijack At first I thought they looked cool but now I only put them on a couple knives to help pull them from my pocket. I think most people use knife lanyards for either or both of the reasons I just mentioned.

I also put lanyards on my smaller knives to help extend the handles and give better purchase.

@jeffersontool I have given SOG several tries with knives such as the Aegis, Flash 1, Flash 2, SOG E-Clip and the SOG Powerlock. Each knife developed horrible blade play after very minimal use. I have no problem with slight blade play but when a knife develops up and down play it is unacceptable. If it only happened once it would not be a problem but it has happened with every SOG knife that I have purchased. SOG IMO does not live up to quality standards set by other knife companies.

@69avocado I have two Tridents, a Flash II, and a SOG-Tac auto. All three have blade play unless you adjust the pivot which in turn make the action slow. I love everything about the designs of the Trident folders, I just wish they'd use better steel and have more solid lockup. Have you or edgeweapon88 ever held a Vulcan or a Spec-Elite? These knives feel amazing to me and both have VG-10 but they just ask a little too much. I live by the SOG factory so I'm going to their tent sale. %50+ off.

the point of having a lanyard on the back of your folding knife is so that if it sits low in your pocket (Like the Delica 4 does) then the lanyard hangs out of your pocket, which gives you more material to grab if you need some fast deployment. Good video!

Wouldn't really call these lanyards. Its more of just a decoration. They look nice yes, but do nothing to prevent the weapon from slipping from your hand, or to make the knives more visable (To help find them in the dark/snow etc)

Some of these are just knife fobs, true, but even a lanyard just large enough to fit your pinkie finger through can aid with grip and retention... and the fact that these don't help with visibility is due only to color choice. I use black/neon colors for mine... and those suckers are visible in high grass from across a field. I couldn't drop a knife without someone seeing it even if I wanted to.

I don't know if you would call them lanyards, but I wouldn't call them decoration, either: I've seen a lot of videos lately where people are keeping their knives in their backpack pockets, pants pocket, etc. A small grab like he has made can help you get that knife out of the pocket faster. Especially if you are wearing gloves of some kind. Just my 2 cents.

Hey, i have a question, i own a gerber paraframe, and there is no lanyard hole, i kinda like the lanyard cuz it will provide easy acess if i leave it hanging out of the pocket, cuz pocket clips are illegal for carry where i live, any suggestions? i was thinking of puting a paracord on the bottom screw in between the two sandwich pieces, if this confuses you just ask me to explain it better

The paraframe is has pillar construction which separates the two handle slabs. What I would do is attach the paracord to the last pillar which is closes to the bottom of the knife. The only problem that you might have is when the knife is closed the paracord will be touching the blade. Does that make sense?

Yes that does very much so, thank you, i might also considered puting the paracord on a tiny key ring around the bottom and putting the paracord on that, it would rotate and have more space for the blade, does that sound better?

Thats sounds like a good idea. Make sure before you start to use it that the key ring does not rest on the blade when the knife is closed. If it does it will run the risk of chipping the cutting edge.
