well to me emotion either becomes thought or motion, so your emotions are focussed on the motion of the body because emotion is the control system of motion in the phsyical body.
I know the child he was talking about and I found it amazing how this worked. Human Givens has changed mine and so many elses lives. I gotta say thanks to you David. You and everyone who studies Human Givens!!
I used to have OCD and have worked on mental health units. By patients, I was sometimes mistaken for another patient, which was ok with me. I was was myself and behaved no differently there than anywhere else. I got on with them as equals, and tried to show that outsiders can be accepting of differences.
I think mental wellbeing initially involves having a good relationship with yourself, and this is the basis for reciprocal relationships with others. Its a positive circle
If you are very quiet there is nothing more annoying than hearing the 'Bloody hell ***** is that you making all that racquet' and 'Im sick of hearing the sound of your voice all the time' type comments, it is even worse when that person involves the rest of the group, it's humiliating.
I think he would have built rapport faster if he had a better knowledge of quiet people. It would probably have been better for the young lad involved.
I don't want to appear as if I am definding this guy and Human Givens, but I think that maybe you were not there and you did not see how the kid responded. It was obviously in mild jest, and there was not malicious effects either from the other kids or this guy.
As someone that has worked in residential childcare for many years and still works in a similar field I feel a Human Givens approach is invaluable. My dream has always been to set up a chain of therapeutic HG residential homes, give kids the start they deserve in life.
This shows the tremendous power of the Human Givens approach. Although the presenter is clearly gifted, the fact that he is making a difference to the lives of these youths without himself needing to have fancy qualifications or a "twenty year track record" speaks volumes for the power of the ideas from which he is working.
There is no safe container to store your values while you’re at work; not living your deepest values will leak on you
No sudden moves: You’re looking emotional commitment right in the eye. slapCompany Question to you: Where do you stand?

That was a pleasure to watch and an example a real insight into how to work effectively with disaffected young people. Well done David!
