I can't even get mine to stay on. I charged it for several hour, and I have the micro sd card inserted (I know the card is not the problem because I successfully recorded videos, the camera just won't stay on for more than 10 seconds) Is there something I did wrong with the text file? do I just copy and paste it into a certain folder on the micro sd card or is there something else I have to do?
Clone puts out very satisfying and actually surprising quality, especially before you upload it to YouTube. It's very cheap but great in bright light. The only thing I don't like is battery life is pretty short (<2 hours it seems) and cannot remove Time Stamp.
"Original recording is a lot better than this, It seems to loose quality when uploaded to youtube." Very true. My viewers can't appreciate what I see in my house! Found any way around this?
Can you compare this MD80 720x480, to MD80 640x480? I can see that 720x480 MD80 has quite the same parameters as "Key Ring" camera (if it has better quality but zoomed picture) + voice activator. Maybe it is the same device inside.
i purchased a clone also and the picture is fine if the camera stays still if not the picture runs and is all blurry like. i wouldnt recommend the clone because it cost more to send back then its worth
@chrisdfw To turn off the time stamp you have to delete the TAG.TXT file in the cameras drive (when you plug it into the computer and it comes up) it should be in the DCIM folder in the camera drive. it may be a hidden file too if you can't see it you'll have to search how to make your computer display hidden folders and files.
@chrisdfw Ya I saw a way to turn off the stamp on some forum for water rockets. If you're still interested I could dig it out of my browser history. It's very complicated to the layman though. It involves soldering and removing a chip and then downloading something on it after you manually connect some wires or something. If this is something that's down your alley, let me know and I'll send you a link. If not I wouldn't bother. I haven't found any other solutions either :[
I agree. Youtube compresses the hell out of your uploads. I had also uploaded a sample clip of driving around with the MD80 clone, but deleted it because it looked like crap compared with the full res file on my PC.

@74orangebeetle Mine wouldn't stay on either- I unplugged it from the usb and immediately hit the record button. That seemed to do the trick.

What type of battery life do you get out of one of these and how long does it take for a full charge?

I have that clone too.
My two complaints are:
1) You can't turn off the time stamp
2) It only stays on for 15 minutes in "sound activated" mode which makes that mode pretty useless and not the 250 standby hours it promised.
Does anyone know if there is a firmware update to fix either problem?
