  • Cause?

mdurdan, why not provide information in the [INFORMATION BOX] so that we need not ask or search for it?

Could you not get any closer without trespassing?

  • @robertgift They didn't give much info on what happened, all I know is the loco was inside the gauge and the two rails were pushed out. And as for trespassing, it is a National Historic Site (Steamtown N.H.S.) so their rely is no such thing as trespassing here, they just didn't want me to get too close in case the locomotive tipped on its side or something

  • @mdurdan Typical nonsense from "officials" wanting to feel "controlling" and "powerful".

As an engineer, I can state that you can stand in front of the engine and it cannot possbly tip over on you. Even on this side of the parallel track in front. The wheels can drop only a few inches - not enough to tip thengine over.

Place whatever information (like you kindly justold me) in the information area. Then we won't be annoying you with repetitive questions.

    Thanks for documenting this.

  • @robertgift Anytime, and I don't mind the questions, I'm happy to reply to any questions people may have. Ill add that info in to the description

  • Re-railing the old Montreal Locomotive Works Steamer.

  • It looks good as I see a diesel and steam being coupled.

  • can we just give it rubberized bottoms and a steering column for when it falls off again?

  • @HaloCE14 well she has a habit of falling between the rails, as seen many times before, check out Ed K's video of 2317 to the water gap, never got their and was stranded till night when D-L finally stepped in with an Alco "rescue train". 2317, a few passenger cars and a few passengers were also left stranded till about noon the next morning. Note: I'm not talking bad about Steamtown NHS or D-L, simply telling it as it is.

  • @mdurdan Thats what happens when the track doesnt have a good enough rodabed the tracks split over time and the Plunk! down you go!

  • makes yeah wonder how they did it in the old days when a desiel electric locs wernt around nor 50 ton cranes

  • @acupoflego I'm also thinking of that. Maybe they used screws or jacks.

  • And yet another video that doesnt tell you where its shot at or when. damn

  • @CintiRailFan this video was taken last summer at steamtown national historic site, unfortunately the only steam locomotive runing at the moment is cn 3254. Cp 2317 is under going a 15 year restoration and will be the last one out of the shop folowing a b&m steamer and a steam switch loco both of wich are under restoration now. They also have a nkp emd gp-9, lackawanna fp7 a-b-a 663, 663b (curently cnj unit)and 664 and two reading fp7s in operation. Lackawanna fp7s are halted cuz of paper work

  • @CintiRailFan as I sayed the lackawanna units are waiting on paper because someone filed static display only papers rather than operational paper work, all of the fp7s are operational and wer donated to the nhs although the owner of the lackawanna fp7s is quite pissed at steamtown for their screw up and that they are taking their good old time filing new papers. More interusting things to see are the many alcos of the delaware-lackawanna, including what will be a fleet of SIX alco rs-3 locos!

  • @CintiRailFan by delaware lackawanna I mean a shortline railroad that runs here, part of the gennasee valley, not the dl&w from way back when. They have a good line of impressive operational alcos wich put on a show all day strugling up the pocono mountains with fleets of sometimes SEVEN alcos in noch eight! Quite a show, realy something to experience all that raw power.

  • Thanks, BNSF&SP

    What was the cause?

    No curve here.

Too much weight on the drive wheels?

  • @robertgift sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I have limited access to the net lately. I'm not too sure what the cause was, probably poor track maintenance and old weak ties splitting and loosening the spikes causing a weak spot for the scale to widen. I walked around the other side of the locomotive during the derailment ant those wheels were in between the rails also. I'm not fully sure but that looks most likely to be the cause.

  • Why no information?

    Cause?

    Why "AGAIN"?

  • @robertgift 2317 has hit the ground once before in this decade.

  • Derailments happen to the best of them and no one is immune, LOL Good video 5*
