  • Great Song, I've been playing music in various bands for a little over 30 years,

the 70"s were the best, the music was better, the tv shows were better, the movies

were better and yes the women!! were better. ha ha , I would go back in a second.

  • beautiful song..........love it :)

  • Tis the song that makes heats flicker with longing- their are so few of them peeps! The meaning the wright every time i think-yea its like that!

  • Some good stuff.the Baby's were a real 70's staple

  • Wow, it takes me back to High School, Sweet memories! :)

  • The blonde is pure professional! What a great voice! John Waite and the Babys Rock! Thanks.

  • Holly shit! What a great old song.

  • One just has to ask, when was the last time a song this good came out? Almost perfect rock pop.

  • Great tune that takes me back to when I met my first love,,,,,interesting bit of trivia did you know the first line in John Waites single Missing YOU was.......Everytime I think of you.

  • The love of my life is the one who has got me hooked on the babys. I really like their music

  • The Babys, and John just had tons of talent! Music that's a joy to hear! Glen

  • I have been in love with this man since I was a teenager!!!!!! 30 years later, I still feel the same way when I listen to the music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He needs to come to Iowa and perform so I can meet him!!!!! :)

  • Nice audio!

  • Always loved this song. love the backup singer. Her voice is so sexy. She mekes the song better thats for sure.

  • @skipper8257 Her name is Annie Bertucci.

  • @kidyubyub The most outstanding backup singer...ever ! Love you,Annie...you are so fantastic !

  • I didnt even know he sang this! Wow, he so liked to have hits with a variety of bands and on his own didnt he?

  • What a great voice, forgot it was John Waite. Dag gone this is so good! Blue eyed soul of the 80's. They were a good band. Reason to look back... every now and then.

  • John Waite is great by himself or in a band. Bad English' When I see you smile is my favorite. Gives me goosebumps every time....

  • Wauw very good fantastic i'm 10year old i fint in great beatifeul

  • this was their best one. good video too. John Waite's solo career never came close to equaling the work he did with this group. The Babys were very underrated.

  • Iwas once like you all full of retrospective thought . But dam it was a good time to grow up.never to much base the women wanted to be women regauardless of orientation and they wrote there oun music

  • I will forever cherish that I was part of this wonderful era! It will never be this way again....

  • I still have a handful of my old 45's, and this song is one of them. It still has the adapter in the middle! God I wish my stereo wasn't broken (which I still have). There is something real about listening to a vinyl record you had to care for and protect like it was golden. I miss those days ... :(

  • The Baby's were great! A very transitional period for music here. And John Waite and the boys came through with so many hits...but mostly forgotten?

  • @DickLodge68 Their two biggest hits including this song written by Jack Conrad and Ray Kennedy.

  • @DickLodge68 well said.

  • Great song from the 70s brings back such memories...

  • Quite possibly John Waite's best vocal ever...have liked this song since I first heard it back in the 70's. Thanks for posting this!

  • wow "schon" stereo :P

  • One off my favorite songs though i dont now anymore so sure that i love the man i was seeing...

  • The driving force behind this band was a Mr. Michael Corby. Cain was a shadow of a replacement and giving him any credit whatsoever is an insult to Mr. Corby, his legacy of creating this band, his passion and his musical abilities not to mention his money. Let's be very clear about this!

  • one person is seriously confused.

  • The solo female vocals are Anne Bertucci. She released 3 solo albums & still plays with 'The California Girls.'

  • @lej274 Thank you for mentioning her ! She deserves a great deal of credit for this song. She really shines...such a doll and an amazing singer. I have always loved her and looked up to her....wow ...what a voice !

    *Mel*

  • I'm just freaking out on the time line of John Waite music! He was performing way before I knew!! born in 71

  • LOVE this guys voice

  • Jonathan Cain on keyboards...the melodic driving force behind the Baby's and, later, along with Steve Perry, the hit maker for Journey.

  • This song HAS TO be one of the greatest EVER recorded! Iv been a Beatles ballad fan all my life, but this tune SMOKES anything the Beatles ever recorded to me

  • Who is the backing singer girl with the blonde hair? anyone know? She as a good voice.

  • ok...someone definately has 'issues' with the temperature up on the stage at :49 ;) the other one must be broken...

  • Midnight special WAS MTV before MTV...great sound, great group...LOL i still remember making out to this song in the back seat of my '69 Dart LOL Thanks so much for posting!

  • Wow... this is impressive! Sounds great, and was a pleasure to watch. Loved this band when i was young. Thanks for putting this up. Cathi.

  • nothing is fake its live from midnight special before the internet cable tv when tv went off the air at night but you would know that if you were even born yet

  • You know who you are..lol..:)

  • Was having a nostalgic moment and sooo glad that this exists. A thousand years ago I had a major crush on The Babys - especially Ricky Phillips. Met him backstage and gave him one of my earrings, which he promptly put into his ear - swoooooooon! ;)

  • enjoyed this song,. So much better then this current "rap crap" that pollutes a person's ear drums

  • What a voice!

  • What a fantastic song, love it!

  • Without the great backup singers, especially the blond, it would not be as great a a song as it is. Great post.

  • John Waite looks like a young version of the dude from American Pickers--Mike Wolf

  • One super song. Glad I found this video. Love this song.

  • This song was written by Jack Conrad and Raymond Louis Kennedy, they also wrote "Isn't It Time" which was sung by the original group. In the studio Jack plays the bass on this track and Kevin Kelly plays piano.

In this clip three of the contracted members of The Babys appear namely Stocker Brock and waite, Cain and Phillips joined this new group as "replacements" for Michael Corby who, it really has to be said, was the "personality" of the band, and still is!

  • Awesome audio/ video compilation! I usually HATE that - on here - but you have done an excellent job with this one. Thanx for sharing... This one's a keeper...

  • John Waite, he is never given the credit he deserves good group, great song really smokes andf lights up the eighties. Bill.

  • @musicMike2...do you Know who is the blond back up singer in the video? great voice

  • I did not know the Johnathon Cain was in The Babys before he was in Journey, cool. Glad to know that... Love this song too.

  • @241sherrim I did'nt know that John Waite was even part of the Babys..

  • How dynamic were the Babys!!! What a great sound, great band, great vocalist. they had it all. A shame that they hit the wall.

  • Thanks! Oh, the memories!

  • I have seen him several times up and met him he is very nice guy,,and puts on a great show.

  • No sabia que grupo la cantaba, muy buen grupo pero con el Internet todo se alla, FREYA 27.07.2011

  • sooo love this song , John W3aite was sop wonderfully androgenoius even bowie likje in these clips,, and the song production is superb!!!!! love it!!!

  • Who was the awesome back up singer in this video? Great voice and body

  • Thanks for posting this, yes well done.

  • One of my favorites from the 70s! Brings me back to high school days!

  • I saw them in Traverse City, MI at the Glacier Dome in 1978 or 79. They were opening for REO speedwagon. REO was a no show but the Baby's performed and they were great!

  • This is one rocking song. Whatever happened to music like this? Now it is all a buch of supposed rymes that don't ryme. Bring back the styles of the 70s and 80s!

  • Well done, Mike! Thanks for posting!

  • So young was Johnason, on keybords who were asigned in "Journey" after years!!

    I could find favorite one!!

  • 1980,in Detroit it was journey, the baby's & the torpedoes,??? i think? great show! my first concert,,,, it was at Cobo hall, great concert venue. deucesinger

  • 1980,in Detroit it was journey, the baby's & the torpedoes,??? i think? great show! my first concert,,,, it was at Cobo hall, great concert venue

  • Love this song!

  • Great words from people who lived through this incredible musical era, it was a truly great time, and it is fantastic that we can come on to YouTube and go back in time!

  • I swear I saw the redhead back-up singer on an episode of 3's Company

  • The Babys were a GREAT band, seen them open for JOURNEY many years ago.

  • @bangtango7 ...Cool,and practical, since Neil Schon was in both bands!!!...

  • This is a great tune from a great band!!,,,YOu're the coolest, Mike..Thanks for posting this!!

  • Awesome song! I miss those days. Going to school, living with my parents and grandfather, who used to wake me up and make me a cup of hot chocolate every morning. And best of all, listening to music like this.

  • Who cares how it is produced, This is a Great Love Song people stop complaining and wrute one

  • Hey, Kelly King, here you go, baby! This is MY favorite Babys' tune! Enjoy!

"Seasons come and seasons go, but our love will never die. Let me hold you, darlin', so you won't cry!"

"and every time I think oyou...every single time...every time I think of you...it always turns out good." Great words!

  • wow the greatest song of love of faith

  • song kicks ass :}

  • Great song. Great sound. Great upload!...Thanks for this!

  • great job on a classic song. the always had great backup singers

  • wow crisp nice job

  • Very simply a magnificent song -- pop music working spectacularly on every level.

  • the background women made his music..brilliant song

  • It was 1979 and my friends and I were graduating from high school in a beach town just south of Los Angeles. The Baby's rocked our world and John Waite rocked mine. I knew every word of every song. My best friend bought me tickets for my birthday, we were seated in the front row. John Waite actually placed the microphone next to me to sing a line in "Head First". I was in such shock, that I couldn't sing let alone speak. He was cool about it. Now, 30 plus years later, he is still in my heart.

  • Great song!!!!!!!!!!

  • If anyone knows who the female blond singer is let me know her name and what she is doing now-a-days -- she has an awesome voice

  • Hey Mike. I still would love to have about 2 weeks to peruse through your record collection. It would be like a two week vacation strolling down those timeless musical memories! Thanks for this potent smash hit. It came out during my last year of high school.

  • What an era, my son loves this song, and he is only 11..

what has happened to todays music, what examples do our kids have today..

  • what you are seeing and what you are hearing are 2 different things, the audio is taped, the visual is a live concert

  • @tjgorman66 --- Why does that really make a difference? I think we can all tell that it's the studio recording. The video was used purely for eye candy.

  • @MusicMike2 The Babys are aural candy.

  • @tjgorman66 oh my god - not on youtube surely?

  • @tjgorman66 so

  • This song sent chills down my spine back when it came on the radio back in 1979:) It holds up very well and is a classic. Great job on the video!

  • I love it! Thank you Musicmike.

  • wow thank you! these words are so true, So true! I Love You April!!!!

  • Great song.

  • This is a great song.

  • Great song, great vocals, and lots of energy. I can't believe the lead back-up singer is white. For more than 30+ yearsI thought she just had to be Black, because her voice is so sultry. This song is as good now as it ever was.

  • I have always liked this song. The music and vocals are great, and the song has a lot of energy. After seeing this video for the first time today, I got a big surprise. I'd always thought the lead back-up singer just had to be Black, because her voice is so sultry. Wrong. A 30+ year misconception has now been corrected. Thanks for posting this great, clear video. I like the song as much now as I did when I heard it for the first time.

  • Terrific vocals and music with lots of energy.

  • This song has lots of energy. John Waite has a great voice, and the back-up vocals are strong. I hadn't seen the video until today, but hear this song every now and then on the radio, as recently as last night on the road. I'd always thought the blond back-up singer was a black chick, because her voice is so sultry. Boy, was I ever surprised to see that she's white and hot, too. Good times.

  • I absolutely love John Waite's voice, and that back up singer has the perfect voice to compliment John's.This recording has excellent sound, great job MusicMike2 !

  • April this song I dedicate to you baby! I love you and I believe in us, our future, and for eternity! Love is not an easy feeling to put into words. Nor is Loyalty, trust, or Joy! But you are all of these. So remember this song it is me to you!

  • I know a lady who can sing just like up the backup blonde singer, her name is Angie and she sounds like an angel. thank you jon waite and company!!

  • So much compassionate song for all the love that is within us all. Nothing can compare to Love that lies within us all> God bless us al! For April Marie

  • So amazing, a love song that has inspired a generation. I still believe in the compassion of the human heart. Tears it brings. Love is not an easy feeling to put into words, Nor is loyalty, trust, or joy. This song says it oh so well!!!

  • cool! chrystal clear sound, sounds like it has been enhanced a bit? John Waite's the best!

  • @RobMeulman --- Slight enhancement for a brighter sound on YouTube. Thanks for noticing.

  • @MusicMike2 ..I noticed as well..especially the step-symbol and high-hat tapping...Great post..Thanks for this.

  • this song, so very sweet. : )

  • well i know where i was in the 70's ...listening to this!! great song ...great video... niccce.

  • Still love it. Great presentation.

  • There is nothing out there on the radio today that compares to the music of 30 plus years ago.............

  • Waite was a legendary voice-- Always enjoy your videos MusicMike2 Remember "Change ' a few years later! When I listen to your selections it reminds me of going to our local record conventions and seeing people as yourself --Dedicated to the history of great music-- Keep putting out those top flight uploads- As I am writng this I am listenig to Freddie's Dead by Curtis Mayfield on AM radio- Isn't that the way it should be Thanks!!

  • Happy Birthday, Eli!

  • Mike! I freakin' love this song! Pure magic! Now THIS sounds like it should've been a # 1 hit! I've always loved the arrangement of The Babys' back-up vocals.

Total ear candy! Thanks again, Mike!

  • Never realized that was Melanie C. from SNL! I have seen other videos of this song and she isn't in it. Nice catch on this one Mike. Great tune from my time. And now John is married to Alison Kraus? NIce catch buddy. People here should listen to some of her tunes. She will blow you away for sure!

  • Melanie is as beautiful now as she was then...you GO GIRL!

  • What a great band and vocals...omg...where the hell was I in the 70's...lost in a bad situation...so happy I've found my way back to this magical trip on you tube and to all of you that post these incredibly songs...thank you MusicMike2

  • @Ursugarspice

Ditto what Ursugarspice just said... I can't believe how many times you post these amazing songs that I'd completely forgot about! Thanks, indeed!

  • Melanie Chartoff was on ABCs Fridays, also she was on "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" and a voice on "Rugrats."

  • Thanks for posting :) LOVE the Babys. Midnight Rendezvous is another favorite

  • I love both this one and their earlier hit "Isn't It Time". Now here's a wierd coincidence - in the mid-1980s a song I don't like called "Missing You" was a hit. The first line in this song is, "Every time I think of you." Each time I heard "Missing You" start up, I thought about this song that I love so much and how its title made up the opening line of a song I don't like. And then I learned that John Waite, who sang "Missing You", was part of The Babys!

  • Great classic pop...that's Melanie Chartoff on the far left...from a whole bunch of TV shows...

  • @maynardsmoreland I remember Melanie Chartoff. Wasn't she on 'Fridays' at abc?

  • Loved the song....enjoyed it a lot.....Thanks for sharing....

  • great one !
