  • impressive

  • Mike tyson vs. Mr.Dream

    yay for best idea ever....sorta.....

  • You say Mike Tyson - I say Tyson chicken nuggets.

    YUM!

  • lights out for tyson :P

  • Don't let Mike Tyson try to get a hold of your ear like he did Holyfield! LOL

  • hardcore!!!

  • @oraakkeli11

There's two versions of this game. An early one and a late one. The early version is Mike Tyson's Punch Out and has Mike Tyson as the champion. After Tyson went to prison, Nintendo didn't want him associated with the game anymore so they renamed it just Punch Out and put Mr. Dream where Tyson was using the same moves Tyson used.

  • @gamewizard Except that the rape charge was AFTER the game was re-released.

  • Actually, Tyson's contract had expired around the time when the late Punch Out game was release, if I recall, due to Tyson losing his championship.

Technically, there are three versions. That is, counting the version originally released in Japan with the golden cartridge where neither Tyson nor Dream were featured in the game, with Super Macho Man being the last boss.

  • @SleepyCandyCane

So, originally it was Super Macho Man, then they signed Mike Tyson on later because of his fame?

    watch?v=wTolWode2Ds

  • @SleepyCandyCane I'm guessing the version with Super Macho Man is extremely rare. At least, I've never seen footage of it nor any ROMs.

  • You're lucky he didn't mug you with the lights out! Or rape you for that matter!

  • @djmuggs187 im surprised tyson didnt bite his ear off. haha

  • imagine how hard this makes glass joe

  • Little did Little Mac know that later on, he would be the second person to lose an ear to Iron Mike.

  • I want my GameGenie back

  • I remember this game! I loved my nes then when the super nes came along l got that... i also got a game boy....now I have a nintendo DSI

  • my eyes just orgasmed at the amazingness of your skills, kudos to you!

  • i bow down to you. sir. few have accomplished beating tyson normally, let alone be bold enough to make the fight even harder.

  • If you want it to be more challenging then beat him in the dark without the glowing and make it where if Mac gets hit even after the first round he gets knocked out. Now that would be hard as hell

  • Holy...

  • one of the best game i can this game really fast finish

  • DAYUM !!! good job ! I had trouble beating him with the lights on ! lol

  • This actually scares the s hit out of me. Makes me think of being mugged by a black guy and only seeing him when he smiles.

  • what was the point of this video ?????

  • Good question, elmezz! Well, the point of this video is to prove that just about anything is possible really.

The Black-Out!! challenge was taken up in good fun, as you can probably tell, by the amount of mistakes made here.

Beating Mike in this game by regular victory was never enough, so I would often come up with new ways of making him even more challenging, good times! :)

  • Wow that's amazing! And its kinda funny too lol.

  • Cool, I'm glad that you enjoyed this, koopa888! Yep, it's definitely a funny code :).

  • This game has always been enjoyable, but I've never played it excessively enough to really master any part of it. Even though I spent probably more times fighting Tyson / Mr. Dream than any of the other boxers, still even that I get mixed results, I can usually beat him, but never anywhere near as quickly or easily as I had when I took him down that one time on round 1. Uppercuts are the easy thing, its those darn jabs that get me, can't image fighting him in darkness.

  • I hear ya. If I were to go back and fight Super Macho Man or Mr. Sandman again, they would likely beat me at this point. However, with Mike Tyson or Mr. Dream I rarely ever mess up.

Yeah, hehe the hooks and jabs are extremely difficult to anticipate in the dark, that's what screwed me up at times, as you probably noticed :).

  • Wow. That was insane, and amazing. You truly have mastered Mike Tyson.

  • Hehe, thank you, MissClawful :).

This is what happens when a person plays a certain level, or boss in this case, until it becomes second nature!

I just couldn't get enough of this game, so I had to find ways of making it harder, as crazy as that must sound! :)

I still consider the final fight against Mike Tyson to be one of the most memorable and enjoyable final battles in all of video gaming.

  • i fought mike aka mr dream and i lost i died in about 30 secs he was unstopable to me

  • Keep trying and you'll beat him! You think that I won the first time? lol

  • VERY AWESOME

  • this actually looks easier than with the lights on cuz u sem him flash

  • He can't see him wink though. Thats his motion for jabs.

  • Sick.. I was entertained..

  • lil mac here is shadow boxing.

  • CONGRATS !!

  • You're a true champ brotha!!!

  • bien joué!

  • this actually seems a lot easier as the anticipation is taken out of it.

  • Nice one Daniel... I should look into some of those performances you sent me way back into 2002 and see if any are worthy of posting.

  • That's cool, Brian, the performances are probably about the same. I remember putting a Black-Out!! effort in there, along with a first round Tyson defeat and some random Game Genie stuff hehe.

If it wasn't for you, I probably would have never recorded any gaming footage period, so thanks again for the pointers and your support!

By the way which games are you working on at the moment? I watched some of your Castlevania II Simon's Quest play through and enjoyed your commentary :).

  • Working on Bubble Bobble right now (did Jackal after the CV2 talkthrough).

  • Cool :). I'm putting together a Friday the 13th NES compilation at the moment, in case you were wondering what I have been up to these days.

I'm kind of surprised that you haven't covered Friday the 13th as of yet, isn't it one of your favorites?

  • I enjoy it, but I dunno when I will work on it... if I did I would have to practice up again to get back into the swing of things.

I look forward to your videos on it.

  • I'm sure that it wouldn't take you very long to get back into Friday the 13th, Brian. You were really good at it from what I remember.

  • i would love to see that video!

  • Which video are you referring to, DLoc0, the Punch-Out!! tape, or the Friday the 13th NES compilation?

  • Friday the 13th!

  • Dream sucks. Everyone knows that the only true final boss is Tyson.

  • @sudadedah Dream steals Tyson's lines in the end

  • @sudadedah Dream IS Tyson, just white, because Tyson got a lot of bad reputation after that game came out.

  • Cooooool!

  • The only thing this video needs is Burning Heart by Survivor playing in the background.

  • That actually looks easier to beat him when all he does is falsh, so no other distracting movements.

  • That is true, SalamiSlim, but when he doesn't flash, he becomes a lot tougher as you can see.

  • Cool for 87'. I remember listening to the Beverly Hills Cop 2 soundtrack and playing that shit. Love it. Good memories.

  • You are the man! That was really impressive not just the fact that you beat Mike, but in the dark. Man, I thought I was good at that game. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you your kind words, Tobydaniel, but you and any other player can also be "the man", or "woman", if they really want to. It comes down to the power of the mind and how much you really want it.

Mike Tyson is my most played against game boss, hence my username, so it is only natural that I would become so accustomed to his moves, as well as the sound of his punches, that a Black-Out victory would be possible.

  • This Black-Out victory was only one small step in opening people's eyes to the endless possibilities of what we can achieve, if we believe in ourselves and eliminate the words "can't" and "impossible" from our vocabularies.

  • How do you make the punches do so much damage at 5:52?

  • Thank you for your question, Slade84! The key to taking off extra energy is to delay Mac's second punch after dodging a Dream/Tyson uppercut.

The first punch is done normally, but as you can tell, the second punch is delayed and that makes all of the difference. Don't be discouraged if Dream/Tyson blocks the delayed punches from time to time, that means that you're only a second off!

  • @Slade84 I notice you never got a reply... Hmmm wonder why...

  • haha that probley makes it easier, less for your eyes to focus on cause everyone thats been playing punch out for years has experienced just for no reason you'll dodge and usually get hit cause your like ahhhhhh all jittery haha

  • wow,,,u are very correct

  • Yeah hearing certain punches and noises definitely helped, BeastisQuarentessant lol.

Soda Popinski is indeed a great name. His original name in the arcade game was Vodka Drunkenski, but Nintendo didn't want to make any alcoholic references in their games and so they changed his name :).

  • For Yehovah so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever beleives in Yesus ben Yehovah, shall not perish but have eternal life

  • YATZEY!

  • must have took time..

  • Well, it wasn't too bad, joebuckjrr, since I was very familiar with Mike's pattern by then. Seeing him flash before throwing an uppercut also obviously helped.

Other opponents such as Bald Bull don't flash at all and Super Macho Man only flashes once before throwing his tornado punch. I had greater difficulty defeating some of the other opponens with this code, but still managed thanks to quick reflexes and good hearing lol.

  • is mario the ref?

  • Yep, he is. It's hard to tell though isn't it? :)

  • I thought so too :) Daniel T sure pulled a neat trick here ^_^

  • how did you create a game genie code? thats awesome dude

  • Hey thanks, NightmareXxX019! :)

Well, there used to be a site called "Game Genie Code Oddities" and it featured two possibilities for creating codes.

The first one was to simply spend time typing in random letters and hoping for the best (what I did lol). And the second was to read and manipulate the game's rom data (hacking: where's the fun in that?!).

Many of the codes that I created did nothing special, but some of them did cool things like this one, I really got lucky! :)

  • pretty neat game genie code

  • lol thanks, Gar! I was really lucky to make that code randomly as you know. Creating new Game Genie codes is a fun thing to do.

Maybe I'll go back to doing this at some point, even though it often takes a long time before being able to come up with something cool :).
