Tink, thank you so much for this lovely rendering. You have a wonderful voice. I was actually looking for this particular song today and here you are.
This is so beautiful! I'm thinking about sining it at my school's graduation to say goodbye to a bunch of my friends who are graduating. You did a fantastic job performing it!
this is a very beautiful song and you have a beautiful voice. like all your songs impressed me very much, I am. you sing with such emotion that one then melts
I live 4 miles from Mt. Rubidoux, and walk up and down it 4-5 times a week. A mile or so down the road is the Historic Mission Inn, where Carrie wrote this tune while loking out the window at Mt. Rubidoux. I operate a FB group for the Mt. Rubidoux Enthusiasts. Thank you for recording this song :-)
my mom was lookin through old family records and found we are in relations of carrie jacobs bond... i was stoked to hear that, i always wondered where i picked up music.. she was conducted into the song writer hall of fame, however many years back...(?)...
The story of the Composer is quite intriguing as well. She is considered an American Icon. She was the first woman to sell over 1 million copies of sheet music (for the song I Love You Truly). She also owned her own publishing company, wrote her own melody's AND lyrics. A self sustaining woman in a time when women were not expected to work!! She also self-raised her son after divorcing her first husband and the freak accidental death of her second. (he was hit by a snowball)
this song was written when Jacobs-Bond was in the Mojave Desert. The lyrics were written as she watched the sunset over Mount Ribidoux. You have an amazing, beautiful voice; truly outstanding. I have a copy of this sheet music from 1910 for cello!

@TinkGerman Have been looking for a recording of this song, but am not really interested in the operatic versions, Your voice is divine. I wish I had your version on cd. I love the lilting, slightly melancholy way you sing this. So beautiful
I learned about this song -- a wonderful piece of Americana -- and then found your video when I checked YouTube. Your performance of it is absolutely enchanting. You sing and play so exquisitely that I am in awe of your talents. Well done!
I'm trying to figure out the finger-picking you do but the video cuts off just above your fingers. It's been defeating me, which is a bit frustrating as I'd love to play this the way you do!
Sie haben mir viele Freude gegeben. Vielen Dank noch mal!.
I love your singing of this song, TinkGerman...! So lovely, sweet and warm. It's 2010 now, and I'm learning this beautiful 100-year-old song as a surprise for my Great Aunt Fran's 100th birthday celebration next month. It's one she's mentioned favoring in her youth. I'm practicing the singing of it with you, Tink! When I have that down, I'll be fiddling with chords on my beloved, neglected accordion, until a friend who really plays accordion helps me find my way. I feel inspired! Thank you!
THis is the sweetest version of this song I've ever heard. My grandmother was telling one of her stories of the olden days when she used to go to garden parties. A cousin of hers used to sing this song at weddings, funerals, garden parties and everyone always knew what he was going to sing. You have an awesome voice and you play excellent guitar! I've done a version of this on my channel, but hope tomorrow to record a version on my violin perhaps you can check it out. Take care :)
Words and Music by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, 1862-1946 Part One: When you come to the end of a perfect day, And you sit alone with your thought, While the chimes ring out with a carol gay, For the joy that the day has brought, Do you think what the end of a perfect day Can mean to tired heart, When the sun goes down with a flaming ray, And the dear hearts have to part?
Lovely. Just lovely.

What a great song and performance. My father asked me if I knew this song, so I found it here. He is 95. Are the words somewhere on the net?
Mein Fater kann Deutsch sprechen, aber Ich habe es alles vergessen. Mein Deutsch ist zehr shrectlich. Viele Dank.

Part Two:
Well, this is the end of a perfect day,
Near the end of a journey, too,
But it leaves a thought that is big and strong,
With a wish that is kind and true.
For mem'ry has painted this perfect day
With colors that never fade,
And we find at the end of a perfect day,
The soul of a friend we've made.
