I live 4 miles from Mt. Rubidoux, and walk up and down it 4-5 times a week. A mile or so down the road is the Historic Mission Inn, where Carrie wrote this tune while loking out the window at Mt. Rubidoux. I operate a FB group for the Mt. Rubidoux Enthusiasts. Thank you for recording this song :-)

The story of the Composer is quite intriguing as well. She is considered an American Icon. She was the first woman to sell over 1 million copies of sheet music (for the song I Love You Truly). She also owned her own publishing company, wrote her own melody's AND lyrics. A self sustaining woman in a time when women were not expected to work!! She also self-raised her son after divorcing her first husband and the freak accidental death of her second. (he was hit by a snowball)

this song was written when Jacobs-Bond was in the Mojave Desert. The lyrics were written as she watched the sunset over Mount Ribidoux. You have an amazing, beautiful voice; truly outstanding. I have a copy of this sheet music from 1910 for cello!

THis is the sweetest version of this song I've ever heard. My grandmother was telling one of her stories of the olden days when she used to go to garden parties. A cousin of hers used to sing this song at weddings, funerals, garden parties and everyone always knew what he was going to sing. You have an awesome voice and you play excellent guitar! I've done a version of this on my channel, but hope tomorrow to record a version on my violin perhaps you can check it out. Take care :)
