  • I am a civillian and my church youth group got to tour the quantico marine base, it was sooo awesome, and I actually touched the rope the guys are climbing on, I was that close to it.

  • OCS quantico demo/tactics platoon... hahaha I used to be in that platoon demostrating all the coarses, one of the best places to work in the marine corps!

  • I hate people who say, "End war", "War is bad". Fuck off. War is a PART of life. It happens in your body people. It happens in food, it happens in everything.

  • lol I can do that easilyyyyy! i have a nice big tree, and a nice long rope. i usually let go with both hands lol!

  • The Obstacle Course really is no joke and even if you were in shape is quite a challange... especially if there is a time limit and or competition involved. However I heard that the jungle obstacle course(s) that the Foreign Legionnaire's go through at their base in French Guiana territory is even harder and more arduous because of the climate and conditions.

  • 27 years later..and my hands still burn when I look at those ropes. LOL

  • Damn. You went to OCS 27 years ago?

  • I have a question. if youre a marine rifleman (i am not but i will join after high school) do you automatically get deployed to a combat zone or do you have more of a chance of being deployed to a peacetime place? cuz i heard if youre a rifleman youd probably be deployed to a combat zone. please repond!

  • You will go wherever the Marine Corps tells you to go. Wherever your unit deploys, you will as well. as an 0311 (infantry rifleman) you are the backbone of the Marine Corps and a grunt through and through. You better believe that the probability of deploying to Afghanistan is extremely high; thats what Marines do, fight wars, and the infantry is at the forefront taking the brunt of the combat. It seems like you are afraid of going to war; if thats so, please consider another career option.

  • im not ill be 18 in 4 years and im joinin

  • don't die try to make it to 17 or 18 lol.

  • @scooniepenn If you don't want to die. Don't join because that's whats going to happen. Haha, as soon as i get out of high school i'm hitting RPI up then going to this place.

  • and what do you mean by a peacetime place? If you mean things such as humanitarian aid in Africa, Asia, etc. Yes it's possible that you do that as well, if you are on a MEU or something. But remember that grunt units are either forward deployed, or standing by to be deployed as well as rotating in and out with units coming home off deployments. OEF is gonna draw out, its gonna be a long uphill battle in Afghanistan, so dont be shocked if you get orders to Afghanistan, especially as a grunt.

  • if ur a marine ur getting deployed, no matter ur job

  • WELCOME TO THE MARINE CORPS.

YOU ARE A WEAPON, NOW PACK YOUR SPEEDOS AND HEAD TO A BEACH IN HAWAII.

NO, they're NOT gonna send you to anywhere in peacetime. You get two weeks when you come home, when they train you to be a weapon you will be used as a weapon, and the Middle East is in dire straights, so your chances of being deployed to anywhere else are slim.

  • EVERY Marine is a rifleman. And no, of course not! There is more than boot. You never know really if you're going to get deployed because Marines can be deployed to anywhere in the world in 24hrs or less. Your unit will have a deployment schedule though. If you're too scared to go play in the sandbox, DON'T JOIN! Marines are made to fight and kill, you better be sure you're ready to do that.

  • I think that it is just the logs. I think that the parallel bars are kind of a standard hight. I haven't heard any different, but I could be wrong. Did you do Jrs this past summer or 2007? I was India 4, 1st Inc 2007

  • I was 2ndInc 2008 India 1.

  • On Browfield, are the ropes on the seniors PT field higher than the ones on the Jrs PT field?

  • I think that the ropes are the same hight, but a lot of the hurdles and shit are higher for sure. Have you been through Jrs already? Im going back to Srs this summer, but I remember that during the field meet, that the ropes were about the same.

  • So the parallel bars, logs, etc. are higher and all? Yes I've done Jrs. Just looked like the ropes were higher in this video than they are on the other side of the squadbay.

  • That is pretty badass

  • Sweet!
