Basil Poledouris' music is one of my primary inspirations for pursuing music and his passing was a tragic loss. I never knew him personally, but I feel fortunate that I was able to at least meet him once in my life at an album signing in LA. His music has meant a lot to me and I wish I had been able to express it better at the time, but I guess that's how it goes sometimes. Time to listen to listen to another Basil album...

basil paledouris was a great talent, who never got the recognition he so richly deserved. his score of the mini series " lonesome dove", is one of the best western scores of all time.

Beautiful, and heartbreaking. I never knew Mr. Poledouris, but I was fortunate enough to interview him a few times, and can attest he was surpassingly kind and generous, and a wonderful man. One always hopes that those we admire from afar are great people; it doesn't always prove true, but in Mr. Poledouris' case it most certainly was. He was a man of integrity, and a giant talent with a giant heart.
