i've spent twenty years running coast to coast with red on my player, say what you want but you,ll never find a more heartfelt music man in all of the world god bless
this type of music makes me so Proud to be an AMERICAN! Only in this country can such beautiful music come from. God bless the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
love the fact that people like him and many others in his generation did not have to change heir apperance to have their music touch so many peoples hearts and be so true
Red Sovine was one of the best singers and his music is one of Legends as long as i live so will Red Sovine because i will always him. even if i am 19 so what if i like older music ( doesn't mean i can't enjoy the music that calls me home). Red Sovine is one of my favorite singers and i still listen to Phantom 309 and Teddy bear. Let Red Sovine live for ever and let his music live for eternity ^_^.
im not even of his time period.... but i love this man's works.... i dont listen to much country but this country i will listen to.... it really makes me think off the world today
Good God you people are slow....This is only a stupid peice of fiction designed to manipulate tears out of idiot rednecks .This guy sold sad narrations In the guise of music and the truckdriver IQs out there still cry there eyes out and wallow in it like little piggies in mud... gimme a break.
sounds to me hoss like your the only idiot. Its actually spelled "piece" and "their." ("Their" as in showing ownership of something) Learn proper fucking english if your going to criticize people but then again your probably a person that was born with a silver spoon in their mouth and thinks they are better than everyone else.
@tjredman24 I'm on your side and all, but you broke the cardinal rule of being a grammar Nazi- when describing someone as something, we use "you're" and not "your" (You're being a contraction of You and Are, and Your signifying possession.)
On a less pretentious note, this song is beautiful. Those who disagree should do so in silence.
I love to hear all of his music. It always reminds me when I was young,my Daddy would play his guitar and sing some of Red Sovines music. I miss those days!!!!
im just an aussie truckie and red is always on the cd player only proglem is when i hear this song it makres it hared to see where im going cos of the tears thanks red i grew up with you in my dads truck now your in mine
my dad drove for over 30 years and red reminds me of my dad over and over again. a lost generation no one will remember, but the greatest heros are never known
Red Sovine, one of the greatest song writers and singers of all time. That family blood contains some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
I recalled some more information on the song pingpongmachice,My first wife Juanita Deem work at a truck stop in Ripley ,West Virginia in 1960.I also recalled of a good cup cofee and good piece of apple pie.It talk of a man on the road trucking and with a load full of hogs and losing track of time. When he got home his wife was die and his little was missing. That a long time back and that is all I recalled right. If you hear someone singing it please let me know.It may had been Red Sovine first t
I tell you I get a tear drop in my eye when listening to his songs. Heck my father is a big, tough, and kind man. I think the first and one of the few times I ever saw him shed a tear was when he listened to Old Reds songs. :'(
red sovine was one of the best old country singer around and yes he can make a grown man cry his stories are sad im 23 and i grew up listen to his music when i was a kid
I need to say Red Sovine can really make a grown person cry.I love this man's songs. and when i do here this song it made me cry now that red sovine can make someone like me cry when here this song
im 16 now and my grandpa used to drive a truck and i would ride with him and the first time i heard it i was 5 he played it over and over and when i could go he would call me every morning and one day i woke up to the song playin on the radio an i came out my room with all my family cryin i new right then
i am 36 now and the first red song I heard was in the cab of an international Cabover going north on I-5 near ashland Oregon my Mom drove this truck for 6 years and when she died this song played on the radio in 94 so this song is dedicated to her memory thank you for posting it
i am only 13 years old and one day my dad played a red song before and i loved it right there i then learnd the song and my band and i played it for a consert in indy i love this song and i love old red R.I.P. RED you are in a better place now
won time on a truckin run threw virginia,i wanted to here red and the only time istopped at a little store they had may be a little stuff but they had some few cassett tapes for sale for 3 dollars and 99 cent.i was lucky that there was a red sovine tape for me to by.you can bet i did just that very thing
R.I.P red. your the only man that can make any other cry, you tell a story that most people can't think of. i love the way he starts to choke up at the end of his songs it shows that his feelings for what he is writing is true. nobody can relplace old red or even try to hold a candle to him i'm far beyond his time i just wish i had been around to here a few of these song sung in person

He produced one song that was never published: "Now everyone died, and everything exploded, and I got on the CB to recall my tale, and told it. And in their rush to stop on by, 100 truckers smashed together in one big pile. My dog was out on the road when it happened - now he's dead. And a part of one of them trucks came through the window and embedded itself in my head. My wedding ring cut off the circulation in my finger, so it got amputated, now they call me four ringer. "

this song makes me want to cry.but then again thats every sad song he sings or well story he tells but i love him there will never be another one of him
You know, I was wondering if he ever made any music videos. However, I got to thinking, if the majority of his songs are from the 1950's & '60's, perhaps either the technology didn't exist, or they were just too expensive to make. Still, it would be interesting to see an old concert that was filmed live or maybe a movie he was in.
no,that guy was writin' songs YEARS before the music video came along. He died almost 30 years ago hell first sovine song i ever heard, i was 6 years old,i'm 47 now. he was a little before that time.
you know my friend toomstone died 1 year ago and he used to tell me storys like red sovine he was a skip talker and a truck driver i really really miss him some times i drink too much becuase he told me storys like no other man could and taught me everything to be succsessfull he knew i had a special tallent but couldnt figure out how to persue it but he showed me somthing he made me figure it out in ways no one could tell me he made me understand I MISS TOOMSTONE GOD REST HIS SOUL
Listening to this song reminds me that I need to spend and enjoy every minute I get with the ones I love.Hearing the words of this song makes me think of the special girl in my life that I can't live without. And thinking about a world without her always brings tears to my eyes. Why,even as I sit here and write this comment, there's a steady stream of tears falling down my face.I can't imagine a world without her.Red Sovine is one of the greatest.Long live the story-tellers of Country.
Red just a way about him that touches your heart. I couldn't agree more CowGurl, our lives are but a mist and you never know when the last goodbye might happen.
This song reminds us all to not take one minute of time with a loved one for granted...appreciate every single second ..ya never know when it`s the last goodbye... God Bless the song and the ones that didnt get a chanc to say good-bye to that one loved one.
this song reminds me of a similar experience that happened in my family. The doorbell rang at my great uncles house a gush of wind blew in and then the phone rang. It was the hospital calling saying my great grandma passed away.
Now the family just considers that it was her coming home to say goodbye.
when my dad passed we knew it was comin so he went at home but the moment i told him it was ok 2 go rest now the screen door blew open n he let out his last breath it makes u wonder about angels
This song makes me bawl every time I hear it. It is just SOOOOO sad!!! Yet, at the same time, the love they had for each other comes shining through.....
I don't think there's ever been a man who could display so much emotion in his voice as Red Sovine...so many of his songs put me in tears. This one particularly is memorable...was trying to build up to having a tough conversation with my parents & Dad excitedly told me about a Red song he hadn't thought I'd heard b4--it was this! He was right, and I was so tense already I know, but I bawled. Will never forget this song--that was the first and only time I'd heard it till now. Thanks for sharing!
I've listened to Trucking songs for many years and this is the first time I've ever heard this song. Thank you for sharing it. It brings back memories of my grandmother.
my dad was a trucker when i was a kid..i was born in 69..but good ole mr. sovine was all the truckers played..my dad is long ago passes away now..but listening to this reminds me of so many times of daddy lifting me into the big truck..back then they could occasionally take the family on some of the long hauls... awsome ty for putting this one here
few were like red sovine. he was one of a kind. my students did a skit on phantom 309. the school that i teach at isa last chance school and at the end of the 3 songs we did. not a single one of them didnt at least have a tear in there eyes. great job to everyone and thank you for remembering red sovine
you are right...i was a knuckleheaded 8 year old listening to late nite radio on the local country station when I heard "Teddy Bear" for the first time. Other then the 8th Of November" by Big and Rich I havent heard such a good yet brutal real world country song.
i grew up on red and i havent been able to find any thing by him for a long time thank you for puting it on here it brings back lots of memerys and with that the tears too
i've spent twenty years running coast to coast with red on my player, say what you want but you,ll never find a more heartfelt music man in all of the world god bless

Now the family just considers that it was her coming home to say goodbye.
Such a sad but beautiful song.

Red Sovine's music remindes me of riding with my uncle back when I was a kid.

Oh wow. This was so sad. Between this and Billy's Christmas Wish, this was just so sad.

Billy's Christmas Wish is actually titled "Faith In Santa." I have it on Red's Christmas cd.

you are right...i was a knuckleheaded 8 year old listening to late nite radio on the local country station when I heard "Teddy Bear" for the first time. Other then the 8th Of November" by Big and Rich I havent heard such a good yet brutal real world country song.
