I live in western Montana where half the time we are climbing mountains to get wood for the winter, and the other half we are on flat farmland hauling thousands of pounds of hay in both the bed and on a trailer. Every once in a while we are on a long drive on the pavement... All I have to say is Ford is rare. Dodge is seen sometimes. You can't go for more than a mile without seeing Chevy's everywhere.

Ford is the superior truck maker, and always will be. Dodge has always been the farthest behind in the big three in development. The only thing dodge has going for them, is the cummins, and it's not even theirs. Their beloved hemi is nothing spectacular to the rest of the v8s out there.

I just bought a 2012 Ford SD King Ranch just like this one. Love it! Powerful, quiet, comfortable and an excellent in every way. I had considered the Ram HD but after doing my research the Ram always came last. Descriptions like "least powerful," "least capable," "outclassed," "worst fuel economy," "lowest GVWR," and "least options" have been used to describe the Ram HD in similar comparisons here on Youtube. I'm not saying it's a bad truck but these comparison tests influenced my decision.

@k2deepblue im pretty sure dodge diesels use NV and allsion trannys which are among the best. All diesels now are very well build and EXTREMELY powerful. Its all about what truck is the best deal and brand preference because they are all awesome.

The Cummins has a lot less power and is the least fuel efficient of them all, not to mention the least capable in terms of GVWR and maximum trailer weight. If you mean "better" in terms of quality, by which benchmark are you making a comparison? My comparison is based on about 5 demos like this on YouTube, where Ram diesel has always come last.

The only reason why the Cummins is so good is that Ford is the Parent Company that builds those motors. Ford really did their homework to build the new scorpion motor (based of the old cum-a-parts) and that is why it performs so well.
I work on a farm/ranch and the only diesels I have ever worked with has been the older 7.3 diesel engines of fords that they had for a while. We haven't upgraded due to not having enough money to do it.
There is really no point in arguing over which truck is better. Most people that buy trucks are loyal to that brand no matter what. All trucks have their ups and downs, anyway.

I just bought a 2012 Ford SD King Ranch just like this one. Love it! Powerful, quiet, comfortable and an excellent in every way. I had considered the Ram HD but after doing my research the Ram always came last. Descriptions like "least powerful," "least capable," "outclassed," "worst fuel economy," "lowest GVWR," and "least options" have been used to describe the Ram HD in similar comparisons here on Youtube. I'm not saying it's a bad truck but these comparison tests influenced my decision.
