Padme is my favourite starwars character, its so sad how she is such a tragic character. She seemed so symbolic of youth, beuty, love, advocate of peace, freedom and liberty and had such a warm loving presence. Her character dedicated her life struggling for others

Its tragic because at the end of her life the Galaxy had lost all hope, all freedom and liberty was now gone, her causes had died under Palpatines tyranical grip and the love of her life had transformed into Palpatines evil enforcer.

Manipulating the Naboo crisis and using Padme to push for a vote of no confidence so he could manuever into the position of Chancellor and then turn the Galactic Senate into a body that will's itself out of existence by transferring all its powers onto him until he becomes the single most powerful being in the entire galaxy

I really liked Padme in episode 1 and 2. I hated though that at the very end of 3 they say "for reasons unknown, we're losing her" and sort of allude that she's dying of a broken heart. Yes, what happened with Anakin was very terrible but you think with as strong a woman as they portrayed her to be in the other films that she'd have fought harder to live for her children. Or at least made them explain that it was trauma that killed her. Still, this scene with this music made me very sad :(

Sorry, I know i'm a bit late to the discussion, but its because of their relation and their balance with the Force. For the Skywalkers, you cannot have Light without the temptation of Darkness. Even master Yoda said it, with any Jedi the calling from the Darkside is always there. Those powerful in the Force are called by it, not much unlike the "one Ring". But imagine if the call of the Force was stronger in one family than the other. It would make sense that the call would be greater.

i think the symbolisim in that situation was that padme died giving life, and anakin lived so he could end life, meaning they were finally opposites.
