@britishshock STAR (now ARES) are know for making guns with good externals but shitty internals. For example, their first L85 models had a rather fragile plastic gearbox.

I'm deciding between a number of Airsoft guns: (prices from airsplat)

A&K LR300 : $178

Army R85A1 : $145

ICS L85A2 : $350

I would be ordering from the UK. Has anyone any experience of ordering off Airsplat from the UK? Also, is there much of a difference between the ICS L85 and Army L85?

Any help would be appreciated!

Well what i belive the answer to your problem is neather guns u have sudjested. i have just orded my m4 s systeam from airssoft mega store look up the online coupons on google you will get a hell of a deal. well the gun its self is amazing in has an adgestable stock and high rpm with high cap mag and fps soreing between 380 - 415! i also orded a 5000 high cap drum mag for it and extra battery that sounds like the perfect gun for him ! good luck:)

dont get either they are both bad brand and will break in under half a year unless your extremely caerful

smaller riffle I would suggest a TM P90 or TM G36, AGM mp-40 is a unique gun and the gun I believe is all metal this might be a con or pro for yo. the other thing is that the gun is unique so parts and magazine might be hard to find reliability though its unknown though

JG's are excellent guns, a little work and forget TM. The range from 100-200 Pounds but most sit under 150 pounds. There FPS ranges from 300-375, usually.

The SPR is only slow with the stock battery. A big NimH wakes it right up.

The first thing I noticed about the SPR was the ROF, it was slow compared to my G3/SG1 or ICS M4, so I got a Systema 3000 Motor and its now as good as them or maybe a little better.

Best buy from a local retailer if you can, so that if there are any problems you can return it, I also heard there is a problem with the wiring but I have not yet had that one on mine.
