Guitar - I love both bands with this one , but Alexi and Michael Amott play different types of music. I personally prefer Alexi. But I love how different Amott sounds then all other guitarists I hear. His solos are unpredictable.They both play beautiful music and are extremely talented. I think Alexi has the wow factor and Amott has very creative solos. But I also love Alexi's creativity because he reminds me of Randy Rhoads. Both are great.

Well, two of my favourite bands here... It's imposible to choose one cause of their very different styles. In guitar, alexi's got very impressive technical skills, with an extremely distorted tone. Michael Amott is probably the metal guitar player with the best feeling. And Chris has great shredding skills with a clearer tone. In vocals Angela sounds more brutal, but Alexi created in my opinion best vocal lines... In the end... Aren't they both great?

When I was listening to the Downfall solo it just didn't sound like it was a good match for the song, I guess that is why I like Arch Enemy better, Alexi is a good musician who focuses more on speed... Arch Enemy in my opinion is better with overall feel and musicality, everything just sorta fits together

Alexi play guitar and has to sing to it at the same time! Ok vocals are not the best, but it works with the sound of cob. also he is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen. He plays very precise.
michael amott pwns Alexi in dreams, alexi is not just a fast guitarist, he's ranked 15 amongst world's fastest guitarists, and he's way better than many other metal guitarists!!

I like both guitarists but i prefer micheal amott because he puts alot of feeling in his playing. He can shred but he does the needed things in the song for better sound or better fluidity. he can shred but he just doesn't like showing off him shredding. If you watch the technique of the soloplayers , you see that chriss and alexi are more experienced in shredding ant sweep picking and stuff. I like alexis solos when he is playing together with the keyboard but chris amott puts more feeling in his solos.
Chris is faster because michael lets him do that stuff on the albums. Michael likes to play slower like and more like Shenker. Even though chris gets the faster solos on the album, michael writes and plays them on his own.

Difficult to say. Michael And Alexi have not the same influences, the same game. I prefer Michael Amott with his game, melodies and the lyrics he composed.
First of all you gotta admit that Alexi Laiho is God hes the lead guitar and main vocals he writes the music and the lyrics! and not just for COB, he has also helped other bands in composing music and lyrics and as for the signing Alexi improved alot since Hate Crew Deathroll he sings better live and Amott and Gossow are just another metal band if Amott and Gossow fusioned the new creation "amosow" would not be even near the level Alexi is. I like arch enemy too but there is no comparison.

all three of those guitarists are godly. laiho is damn good at rhthym over AE, solos are nice and fast and hard. michael amott is good at making the slow "feely" solos and chris is quite the shredder. they all have talent and are both badass bands.
Alexi Laiho is the far better guitarist. He writes all of those difficult riffs for himself. He writes the songs, and the lyrics, and sings it all in his band. On top of that, he is less brutal than Angela but he scream-sings instead of just growling.
If you want to hear what Alexi Laiho is capable of, listen to the guitar solo at the end of Kissing the Shadows by Children of Bodom.
Alexi is a 'far' better guitarist? 100% disagree. They are just different, The Amott bros have Alexi in the vibrato/feel department. Alexi probably out-sweeps them. The Amott bros have insane technique, check out the Young Guitar videos of them playing. Chris is a madman on the guitar I've literally never seen a video of him making a mistake and he was perfect live, I'm convinced he could play any CoB solo if he wanted to. Alexi is a genius though, especially his work on Hatebreeder and FTR.
Oh yeah, Chris can sing also (And actually sing). Check out his work on Armageddon (He plays guitar on all 3 albums but only sings on the album 'Three')

When I was listening to the Downfall solo it just didn't sound like it was a good match for the song, I guess that is why I like Arch Enemy better, Alexi is a good musician who focuses more on speed... Arch Enemy in my opinion is better with overall feel and musicality, everything just sorta fits together

I like both guitarists but i prefer micheal amott because he puts alot of feeling in his playing. He can shred but he does the needed things in the song for better sound or better fluidity. he can shred but he just doesn't like showing off him shredding. I also think Micheal is acutally better than alexi musically!

If you watch the technique of the soloplayers , you see that chriss and alexi are more experienced in shredding ant sweep picking and stuff. I like alexis solos when he is playing together with the keyboard but chris amott puts more feeling in his solos.

Chris is faster because michael lets him do that stuff on the albums. Michael likes to play slower like and more like Shenker. Even though chris gets the faster solos on the album, michael writes and plays them on his own.

First of all you gotta admit that Alexi Laiho is God hes the lead guitar and main vocals he writes the music and the lyrics! and not just for COB, he has also helped other bands in composing music and lyrics and as for the signing Alexi improved alot since Hate Crew Deathroll he sings better live and Amott and Gossow are just another metal band if Amott and Gossow fusioned the new creation "amosow" would not be even near the level Alexi is. I like arch enemy too but there is no comparison.

Alexi Laiho is the far better guitarist. He writes all of those difficult riffs for himself. He writes the songs, and the lyrics, and sings it all in his band. On top of that, he is less brutal than Angela but he scream-sings instead of just growling.
If you want to hear what Alexi Laiho is capable of, listen to the guitar solo at the end of Kissing the Shadows by Children of Bodom.

Alexi is a 'far' better guitarist? 100% disagree. They are just different, The Amott bros have Alexi in the vibrato/feel department. Alexi probably out-sweeps them. The Amott bros have insane technique, check out the Young Guitar videos of them playing. Chris is a madman on the guitar I've literally never seen a video of him making a mistake and he was perfect live, I'm convinced he could play any CoB solo if he wanted to. Alexi is a genius though, especially his work on Hatebreeder and FTR.
