I was about 5yrs old when this aired on WVEC 13 in VA. My Dad recorded this show for me on a Beta VCR! The bunkhouse @ the end was a shocker because I always heard of 'em but I knew they were gonna cut it short! I thought my old video had surfaced, but I remember a WVEC 13 logo flash @ the bottom. Regular tv not on cable!
I remember this. The NWA back in the day had all the gimmick matches that the WWF later stole. Most of the ideas that Vince Mcmahon came up with started in the NWA.
I was a youngster when this happened, and it was before the Royal Rumble. It didn't catch on like the Rumble, but as a kid I thought this was the shit.
@SDBugg I didn't mind him. He could be irritating sometimes. Always like Schiavone. Think he gets a bad rap because of the whole Mick Foley thing. Caudle was great. They always had very good announcing.
The reason 80s Tv always cut the ends of matches off or just showed clips is because they were selling tickets to live shows and only give you a taste of top stars against each other, it worked for the time.
Great match, thanks for sharing. I still think Magnum should have won the match since they needed to push him, Looks like Dusty decided to give himself the victory again.
Every week they ended the main event before it was over. Every week they said they would show us what happened next week. Every week they never showed or told us what happened. Every week I would get mad as hell and swear I'll never watch World Wide Wrestling again! I watched every week until the end....
@Silvermountainman420 Very true i remember one time they hyped the main event a 6 man tag team title match between dusty rhodes and the road warriors vs. the powers of pain and nikita koloff..and we saw all of 3 minutes of it..what a pain in the ass that was
i'm talking 1984-1987...we got Mid-Atlantic on saturdays...weekends was the shit in b'more when it came to wrestling!! UWF power hour used to come on like 12:30 am on channel 5...saturday nites
i checked with my auntee, and brother, they both confirm, my auntsa a big wrestling fan!! you were correct...54 it is!! loved wrestling in Baltimore in the 80's...
I remeber watching this on channel 17 at 2pm also. Such a random time for wrestling, but perfect since I was 8 years. old. I could have sworn Ben Alexander won this Bunkhouse Stampede.
Classic stuff. NWA World Wide Wrestling used to come on at 2pm on channel 17 here in the Philly market and I would look so forward to it. It was the polar opposite of the WWF's cartoonish programming at that time.
one of two matches I would love to see return... The Bunkhouse Stampedes and Wouldnt Survivoir Series be sweet fought under WAR GAMES rules... it fits like Peas and Carrots... lol
awesome wrestling way better than wcw bring back the nwa

@jen2troy Crockett sucked big time, worse than Michael Cole! Schiavone, Caudle and Ross were, in my opinion, the best in JCP

Because Ric Flair was the World's champ. The main champ(s) hasn't wrestled in a Royal Rumble in nearly 20 years now.
