  • 1. Rocky Marciano

    2. Muhammad Ali

    3. Joe Louis

  • this is Bradock,fast fighters

  • I think Max Schmeling actually helped a few people escape nazi germany.... risking his own life in the process

  • Baer's shorts appear to have a motif similar to the Star of David. What's in a name ?

  • Nazi commentary on this video I do not like

  • step 1: pause then open new tab

step 2: type rocky movie montage its second 1 down

    step 3: mute this video

step 4: press play on othervideo then immediatly press play on this 1

    step 5: enjoy

  • Wow no standing 8 count!

  • I wonder how Joe Louis survived in such a racist era as a world champion

  • Why is this fight being broadcast in German?

  • Both amazing and respected fighters

  • schmeling was a nazi, he was a paratrooper. but he was also a nice guy.

  • @DNRvideos No, he was a paratrooper because the nazis wanted him to be one. He wasn´t a nazi

  • I can't tell which one is black with the black and white visual... did Braddock knock out Louis or vice versa?

  • @KuttyKool

Braddock knocked Louis down once (I think that's what you're referring to), but Braddock was eventually knocked out after a pretty lengthy fight (round 8 if memory serves). If I'm not mistaken, I think it was the only time that Braddock had been KO'd in his career.

  • love the movie james j braddock rules a.k.a cinderrella man

  • wow

  • I've never seen this fight before and it's nice to see how Louis won the fight. Braddock did his best too for the sport of flat noses.

  • Desde 1915 hasta 1937 no hubo ningún boxeador negro qué disputase el titulo mundial de los pesos pesados, pues la America blanca tenia miedo á otro Jack Johnson ,hasta qué llego Joe Louis.

  • very genius of Braddock negotiating for a share of Joe Louis's purses for every time Louis defended the title, Louis eventually held onto the title until 1947 when he retired undefeated champion, shrewd move by Braddock it set him up for the rest of his life.

  • @bellsboy No, Braddock ended back in the docks where he worked before his boxing career

    started.

  • yea, but he owned and operated all the heavy equipment. he ended up being rich as fuck.

  • Helluva right cross by Louis, opened up with the hard left jab. But I did not know Jim had knocked Joe down, pretty solid blow, tho Joe got up right away. Joe called Jim the most courageous fighter he ever met. Jim was outclassed and out punched but he hung in there and mixed it up. Anyone else seen the movie Cinderella Man starring Russell Crowe as Braddock? Good flick, tho not an accurate, fair portrayal of Baer, who did NOT brag about fighter who died; he expressed great sorrow and regret.

  • just shut yer crap up guys and enjoy the video!

    shuddup an watch!

u guys are like the idiots behind the sober ppl picking fights and yelling redneck shit at a football or *insert sport here* match

    WATCH THE DAM VID!

  • joe had that 12 in dynamite right

  • Fighting Genius am guess you never fought before and wouldnt know how real pushes feel like ...anything could happen in the ring plus James was old and louis was young.. so dont dis the bulldog

  • Looks like Cinderella turned into sleeping beauty. lol

  • James J. Braddock exenplo serte was one of perseverance to be a world champion with everything he has consertesa is not for everyone's a shame that here in Brazil we do not know their history

  • Comment removed

  • amotisi8859 you got to remember why he made the deal to get another shot a schmeling and you know what it worked out for him, to joe it was never about money he always gave it away to people he loved and even homeless people, joe louis is truly the best heavyweight ever how many boxers do something like that out of the ring? they may appear nice at heart but none of them went all the way for there fans like louis

  • Louis was a great boxer. I like Marciano better but you cant judge louis based on that fight. Marciano was in his prime and Louis was not. I think if somehow Marciano was to fight Louis in Louis's prime he wouldve had his hands full at the very least. Braddock was a respectable fighter but he didn't really have a chance against Louis. But Braddock did very well in boxing for his age. I'm just glad these videos are on here so we can watch these great classic fights.

  • Well really, Jimmy did really well in the early rounds, but he just seemed to have a problem taking off and landing the shots he needed to.

  • Oh I know. He sure wasn't scared of Louis. Bulldog wasn't scared of anyone. I read somewhere he had arthritis in his left arm and was under medication during this fight and couldn't really feel it or hold it up too well. Thats probably how Joe landed that knockout punch. Both great fighters though

  • This fight was the ultimate suckers bet for louis, as his manager signed away 10% of his purses for 10 years for braddock to fight louis. braddock died a millionare, joe died on the streets of vegas.

  • The fact that he lost to that Nazi Max Schmeling is an embarrassment though.

  • Max Schmeling was no Nazi. He may have showed them respect, but he was no Nazi.

  • @kinglouie23 i actually just learned about that in world history, he didnt even support the nazi's

  • the first time round yea but have u seen there second fight? judging by the ignorance of ur comment i think not. Louis destroyed Max in the 1st round, he knocked shit out of him and got the KO. History tells it that the 2nd fight they had was the one that mattered most, it was at a time where the rivalry between the two fighters was evident clearly because of the war and the fact that it happened at a pivotal point durinb the war makes it the all or nothing fight. Im british by the way.

  • WWII: 1939-1945. Louis-Schmelling II: 1938

  • Max Schmelling was not a nazi. He Hated Hitler and left Germany as soon as he could. He was friend's with Louis after they fought - repeat, don't believe old Goebles' propaganda videos - he was not a nazi.

  • very true...and as a matter of fact, him and joe became best friends. all citizens of germany was afraid to be defiant of nazis at that time and not all nazis even believed in hitlers cause..they werent all bad people and were only made to do the things that they did and many germans were domonized for it but it wasnt germanys fault, only the goverments at that time. good point you made and glad you cleared it for others!

  • hahaha I love the way yall I think I was being serious!!! Of course Joe Louis is without question a top 3 heavyweight of all time and argueably the best!

  • my last comment was a reply to Mr. Granthill33

  • BBC journalist Peter Wilson called the final right hand the hardest punch he ever saw one human being land on another: it left a scar above Braddock's upper lip that stayed there until the day he died. Braddock perhaps was the ultimate winner: as part of the deal for fighting Louis instead of Schmelling he got a percentage of Louis's future title purses, all 25 of them. He ended up with more to show from Louis's reign than the champ himself.

  • Great right of Joe... Great fight. Two true boxers, not that clown of Baer...

  • cinderella man

  • Jo Louis sux and coulnt box, he fought a bunch of weak arse chumps who couldnt have beaten club fighters in any other era. Louis would get owned by the Braddock who went on that win streak to win the heavyweight title, this was two years later. Louis would also lose to in their primes Rocky,Sonny, Floyd, Ali,Foreman,Frasier,Holmes,Archie Moore,Leon Spinks,Tyson,Riddick Bowe and Holyfield. However he would own Lennox Lewis he was a real muppet

  • MrGrantHill:

possibly the dumbest fucking comment i have ever seen related to boxing...Louis couldn't box? HAHAHAHAHA....he defended his title more times than any other champ in history...you really have no clue what you are talking about...Braddock NEVER stood a chance at ANY time in his career against Louis...the fact that you say Lennox Lewis was a "muppet" proves even further how ingorant you are.

  • obama4mankind go fuck yaself, if you want to talk boxing you talk to me if not then get lost. The Brown Bomber was a sack of shit you thought he could throw good combos however his opponents were so bad it was just target practise. Then he came up against the Rock and got smashed outta the ring!!!HAHAHA "slow joe louis" was a joke and discredits the heavyweight division hugely. I forgot to mention the likes of Dempsey, Jack Johnson and Bob Fitzsimmons would have DESTROYED him!!!

  • are you retarded this is the second stupid comment I have seen from you, you are a stupid ass if you had ever been in a ring and understood what it took to be there you wouldn't say such dumb things you are nothing but a loud mouth know it all that doesn't have the experience to talk about anything, shut your mouth and watch' Joes footwork, his balance, how he keeps his core centered at all time, see the leverage he develops on his left hook see his subtle head movement. Shut up watch and learn

  • MrGranthill33 = moron

Where the fuck do you get off making the assumption that Joe Louis was garbage? He is CONSISTENTLY ranked in the top 3 boxers of ALL TIME...he beat PLENTY of top fighters and he was in his MID THIRTIES by the time he fought MArciano...you are a fucking fool...shut the fuck up and dtop spewing you're mornic views.

  • slow joe louis? honestly, are you even watching this fight or are you just listening to what Ali said? And he lost to Rocky when he was old and only fighting cause he needed money for taxes or something. And the list of fighters you said could beat him is a maybe. I actually think Liston had the best chance. And Lennox comment...you are just stupid. He was boring but he could box well. Don't you realise since nobody agrees with you, your comments are dumb? You simply know fuck all about boxing.

  • true but louis defended it against tons of palookas

  • Maxxie was a great man. He did many good works outside the ring. Damn good boxer as well. Love the guy.

  • On an unrelated note, wish the whole world worked like the camera they filmed this with... you can't see who's black and who's white... all you see are two men in the ring... that would be nice... ok Mother Teresa moment over... Joe Lewis was a one of a kind boxer, like Sugar Ray Robinson, Alli, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Tito Trinidad, Winky Wright, Bernard Hopkins.. absolute best in their time.

  • Just because they both look white you racist. Bernard Hopkins does not touch Calzaghe by the way.

  • he actually "touched" Calzaghe and dropped his ass in the first round of their fight...then Calzaghe slapped his way to victory like a bitch.

  • So what your saying is Bernard Hopkins floored a guy in the first round... then all the guy did was slap Hopkins like a bitch and Hopkins couldn't do anything?

    He's pathetic.

  • Chris2O09:

riiiiight, Hopkins is "pathetic"...if Hopkins (a hall of famer) is pathetic...than what does that make you?

Proves how ignorant you are when it comes to boxing that you call a hall of famer and top 5 pound for pounder at 44 YEARS OLD "pathetic".

  • You guys get all of your knowlege from a hollywood movie and put out comments based on that. sad! Max Baer was a good boxer and even his son said in interviews after the movie that hollywood misrepresented his father in the movie. Dont go by a hollywood movie. Look up his stats.

  • yes the cinderella man, the movie is great too

  • cinderella man=)

  • This was Braddock's staged retirement, they already planned to go with this fight because of the money.

  • Yeah, they knew he wouldn't beat Schmeling either.

  • braddock knocked out tommy farr in his last fight. farr went the distance against louis. i'm not able to see louis right touch braddock's chin in this video.

  • Actually Braddock barely beat Farr by a split decision.

Where do you people come up with this stuff?

  • @largelester that is not true but even if it was its a moot point because braddock wasnt even in the same league as louis

  • @bigmanoooo1 my bad dude, yes braddock won a split decision over farr. upon review i see where lewis made him pay for the disrespect of not keeping his left up. louis's hook to the body caught braddock's dangling left arm, which pushed braddock's shoulder back thus exposing his chin. louis followed his left hook with the right cross to braddock's exposed chin. i'm sure if the bomber asked cinderella for another dance he would have gotten more lessons and given more respect.

  • @largelester yeah probably and braddock gave louis a lot of problems dont get me wrong, apparently louis said braddock was the bravest man he ever fought

  • yeee the cinderella man

  • I want to the music``` thank you!!!

  • Oh and by the way..thanks for this great upload!

  • so being a coward wiseman is is fighting matches against younger fighters when your the huge underdog. And your doing so u can feed your family. sry Braddock was no coward

  • and one more thing a recession is what we have today...a depression is financial chaos, an economic atomic bomb...and we still could have one.

  • ssaltspring:

somebody told me it's all staged even...the sub prime market collapse we've just experienced...

  • damn u guys are kids...Show some respect. U know NOTHING!

  • You guys saw Cinderella man..Mr Wiseman LIVED that era..all u guys know nothing. The man LIVED in that era. Saw the fights live, felt the atmosphere...HE WAS THERE! and he gets all these thumbs down..hey a lot of your heros waited for the right time for rematches and Louis in his prime would of beat Braddock at any point of his career, Get off Ron Howard's tit and listen. You are kidding right?...get off this comment board ye Hollywood sissies.

  • with strongest bully of your area ...do you have the courage(or do any thing which requires courage )...well r

ecession is again coming ... lets see how many

of you can be THE CINDERELLA MAN.(you needn't be a boxer to do so ).

  • You're right about that one, but I wouldn't recommend to fight on the streets because it's really, really stupid. Leave the fighting for the professionals. (Excluding self-defense, ofcourse.)

  • yeah .... that was just an example....

  • heavy weight contenders are really tough

fighters....not easy to defeat but not impossible...He defeated them and

the last wins of his career are over those boxers.

If u guys compare laughran and max baer's fight u will see the difference in braddocks skills..i agree that movie

might have shown something extra for some people...like he was TKO

before griffins fight once...And for those who say him coward ...why

don't you shut down your computer and go to streets and take a fight

  • when did louis win the title -the very first time? was it when he fought Braddock?

  • Louis only won the heavyweight title once, but he held it for the longest amount of time. And yes, he won it from Braddock, in this fight.

  • there was another fighter whose last name was 'Lewis' (spelled with an e) , Braddock fought him a second time and beat him before he touched gloves with Baer or Joe Louis...what was his full name? was he a tough cintender at all that guy?I think it was after he (Braddock) fought Lansky...

  • John Henry Lewis, I think?

  • Yes, John Henry Lewis. Braddock lose the first fight in 1932 and the he won the second one in 1934. But that fight was just a few months before he fought Art Lasky.

  • yes

  • Well Braddocks record was 34W 5L 4D 1NC ,before laughran's fight for the light heavy weight title

.He lost that fight and 19 more after and won only 9.I dont know what happened to him after laughran's fight (if anyone knows plz tell me)

.Recession and sufferings made him so strong that he beat the heavy weight contender that too KO in 3rd.

This loss cost griffin his career.now my dear pals over here

  • I love how they left out the part where Braddock floored louis

  • What do you mean? It clearly shows at 1:07 Braddock connecting with a right uppercut, flooring Louis.

  • sorry whoops

  • @bxnyfordham who cares? In the end he lost.

  • @ArcherKJ7512 because Braddock is way over the hill and he took down the best heavy weight in the world while old and tired. Thats why. If you don't appreciate that id really recommend soul searching.

  • @bxnyfordham I don't care what other fights he was in. We're talking about THIS fight watching THIS fight. And he lost. Who cares if the camera didn't catch one punch? He lost in the end.

  • @ArcherKJ7512 So billy conns making a fool of louis for 12 rounds is irrelevant? Enjoy elementary school.

  • @bxnyfordham Haha! You fool! Of course its irrelevant! It has absolutely nothing to do with this fight. I don't see the point in trying to explain it to you since you obviously don't have the mental capacity to handle a concept such as this. This conversation is over.

  • @ArcherKJ7512 thank you for sparing me. Your intellectual with was too much to deal with....Have fun playing pocket pool.

  • James J Braddock wcale nie przegrał , coś tu nie tak . Oglądałem film człowiek ringu i tam było całkiem inaczej .

  • Love yah Joe

  • joe fought for the rights of the black people, but i like jimmy the most, i love the movie cinderalla man, it rally shoves what he had to go through.. and how he loved his family.

  • Well, I think these were two of the greatest champions ever... Braddock lost, but he was very courageous... I shudder with the bombs Louis threw at him and Braddock took them like what he was: A true man.

  • That slow motion camera is truly magical...

  • huh thats odd? I heard Jim took this fight 15 rounds.

  • em im not sure if this is correct but i tohught jimmy braddock fought 15 rounds with max baer to win heaving weight? there was no knockout so a decision was made and braddock was the new heavyweight champion of the world on 22nd march 1935 but im not 100% sure but hope it kinda HELPS !!!

  • Im talking about his fight with Joe Lewis. I already know about the Max Baer fight.

  • oh sorry ! lol he took this bear fight 15 rounds he took this fight 8 he knocked louis down in the 1st round but louis got up n the fight was stopped after 8 rounds and appantyl braddock said that louis threw more punches that bear did?

  • James J. Braddock fought Max Baer won a 15 round unanimous decision against Max Baer to win the World Heavyweight Championship. He lost the title in his very first defense 2 years later against Joe Louis, in which he was KO'd in 8 rounds.

  • Cory: Yep, Braddock was scared to fight anyone, as he knew Baer or Louis would have beaten him. He was forced to fight Louis, and the rest is history.

  • Well, I don't know about that. I'm not the biggest Braddock fan, although I'm one of the biggest boxing fans. But he got a good deal for fighting Louis. His manager made a deal with Mike Jacobs. The deal was that if he agreed to fight Louis, Jacobs would have to give Braddock 10% of the earnings made from Louis over the next 10 years But I dont think he was reall scared to fight anybody. he probably avoided Schmeling, but that was probably just as much for political reasons.

  • Burtwiseman. Joe Louis is on record as saying Braddock was "the most courageous fighter I ever fought.", yet you call him a coward. Of course you are a self proclaimed wise man, so i guess when it comes to boxing and bravery Joe aint got a clue what he is talking about. Prat!

  • Burt. I dont know, maybe he didnt feel like it, maybe he was tired of fighting, maybe he wanted to spend time with his family, maybe after all the years of pain, suffering, hardship, poverty, injury and illness he fancied a break from getting his head smashed to a pulp, or maybe, just maybe, he was having so much fun spending his new found wealth on hanging out the back of your grandmother that he just plain forgot to fight.

  • I guess they are still are mommies house to not understand..."all the way to the bank." Grow up laddies.

  • I call bullshit on that one, Burtwiseman. Braddock was never afraid to fight anybody, no matter what. You're just bitter because he beat your box Max.

  • Max Baer was a great fighter though you cant say he wasn't, however so was Braddock. Both great in the ring. :)

  • I never said Baer was not a great fighter. He was. It's just that like Zab Judah, the man had little to no focus.

  • @Tantalis77 Yeah Max Baer had like 53 knock outs in his pro career, he earned his stars. The biggest reason why he lost to Joe Braddock is because Joe is a great boxer, but Baer would have come closer or maybe even won had he not underestimated Joe.

  • excuse my ignorance but who is Braddock? the tall or the shorter one?

  • Braddock (aka "Cinderella Man") is the white guy, though it's a bit hard to tell. He gets the 1st knockdown but loses by knockout to Louis in round 8.

  • ok thnx :D

  • what a great knockout. Braddock didn't know what to hit the canvas from first, the shot to the liver or the shot to the chin.

  • what a great knockout. Braddock didn't know what to hit the canvas from first, the shot to the liver or the shot to the chin.

  • yes bradock was a bad ass but this is towards the end of his career, he also was given some arthritis medication that worked like a muscle relaxer, taking away some of his power if you notice or know anything about braddock he doesn't use his left like he does in his other fights, also Joe Louis is the greatest heavyweight champ of that generation, oh yea and it looks just like braddock so what would be your first clue? I help you joe gould jumps up on the ring in the backround at the end of rd1

  • Braddock was a great man, as was Louis.

  • um.. this is bradock... u can here the announcers anounce his name... besides, i saw him and bradock fight on the film, looks the same to me ...

  • Joe Louis got screwed over my the government

  • Did you know, that Braddock only took this fight on condition that he took a cut of Louis' future earnings. He finished a rich man and Louis working as a doorman! No brains.

  • I knew that and it makes my blood boil every time I think about it. Joe Louis' sister died frozen to death last week acc to press reports. The Braddock family should be ashamed of themselves for not offering to pay the funeral costs. Disgusting...

  • Boxers were all used in those days. You had to play ball to get a title fight. An American ,Zora Folley, had to wait until he was 35 for a title fight with Ali. Randy Turpin beat Robinson easily in 1950 for middleweight title. He had probs and didn't train for rematch-and lost. He never got another chance. Boxing has never been fair. If you can sell tickets, than it doesn't matter how good you are!

  • Yes, I take your point. But I still find it disgusting and unacceptable that Joe's sister should have been found, aged 93, frozen to death in a garden. Apart from being boxing's best, Joe had was a generous man and had a great heart out of the ring. I think he deserved better than that.

  • I agree. Louis fought into his forties and died penniless. his funeral was paid for by Schmelling. Boxing promoters only care about their own pockets and not history. It's incredible that Audley Harrison has earned millions, when there are real legends who have been left in the gutter. We'll watch Louis' and many others fights for eternity. Harrison will not get a mention. Regards

  • Yes, Schmeling was another generous man and never got due credit for this. It was remarkable how he managed to keep getting up from the canvas in his 2nd fight with Joe. He was reportedly under orders from Hitler to win at all costs for Nazi Germany.

  • None of the fighters earned a fortune. They had to fight in booths on top of their fights in the ring. They've got it easy today! No wonder why most died from the effects of mental probs and alcohol abuse. Benny Lynch-Scottish flyweight world champ-champ at 22, alcholic at 26-license withdrawn and dead at 33!

  • Benny Lynch was eventually reduced to letting folk punch him in the face in exchange for a few coppers. Schmeling was an exception and made a very good living working for Coca Cola after he retired. And to have paid for Joe's funeral after what Joe did to him! That was the true spirit of boxing. Changed days...

  • Boxers were hard in those days. They respected each other as they had to fight hard each week in booths, just to earn a living. The rules and environment were much tougher, so the boxers were the same. Today, they fight every year and can earn a fortune. They didn't even know then how damaging blows were to the head. What a pity!

  • the funeral wasn't paid for by schmelling, but he supported louis after his retirement.

  • Please, I'm not trying to start an argument. I just want to know why should the Braddock family pay for the funeral. I think the deal was that Braddock would get 10 percent of Louis' future earnings, but surely that can't make them responsible for the Louis family.

  • Braddock was a bastard to have forced such a deal on Louis, even though this sort of thing was not uncommon in those days. B must have known he had no chance. Schmeling, despite the battering he took, did not hesitate to pay for Joe's funeral. A gentleman. If the Braddocks have no such conscience or sensitivity, well that's just fine - let's leave it at that and let that go down in history too.

  • BTW, hulkout666... You don't happened to be called Braddock by any chance?

  • If you hourmat1991 meant how much Braddock would've earned if he fought Max Schmeling, it was about 30 000 dollars, so Joe Louis was a much smarter choice financially for him.

By the way not everybody knows the fact that during his "championship years" (between 1935-1937) Braddock fought a lot of exhibition bouts, although people have said that Braddock didn't look impressive at all and seemed to be out-of-shape in those bouts.

  • shut th3 fuck uppp do u fucken people ever speak english anymore

  • if braddock was younger in this fight 32 vs a 22 lol

  • Louis was 23. Why lol? Braddock fought well. Besides, Archie Moore fought until he was 48 and beat guy that could be his sons. Think about that, boy.

  • how much was he looking if he fought max schmeling?

  • that slow motion camera takes the fucking piss, takes about an hour to get to the action on it.

  • i know, i have the movie on dvd, denzel washington is in it, its a good movie, carter is in kockout kings 2001, i think 2002 as well.

  • you are al true, rocky joe braddock all great fighters.

has any1 heard of rubin carter?

  • the hurricane... duhh lol what rock did u crawl out of?

  • Does anyone notice on 1.39 joe louis does a jab and moves to his left so he doesn't get countered IM PRETTY SURE MIKE TYSON DOES THAT MOVE HE MUST HAVE COPIED HIM shows how good he was joe louis was one of the best of all time but shame he took that fight against rocky its sad he lost all his skills but im sure in his prime he could have taken rocky, braddock gr8 fighter tooo but joe louis was gr8er

  • Not everyone realizes what an great result Joe Louis obtained here. He is the only man in history to have floored Jim Braddock for a ten-count.

  • 57highland / Burtwiseman. I may have this wrong, its perhaps 10 since I read up on Baer. I think I read in atleast one place how he was rascist. Have you read anything like that about him? He was obviously American and played on his Jewish extraction, but think I also read that he was partly Scottish and, wait for it, German. (Going back 3 generations I think.) Are you able to confirm if that's the case?

  • I read something about Baer, just a little. Yes, it said his mother was Scot/Irish (or English), and yes they played up the Jewish thing to sell more tickets and Baer was not too very devout. I don't know about the racism stuff, unless it was something he said or did which was taken lightly in that era but wouldn't be the case today. Judgments out of historical context, or something like that.

  • burtwiseman. Louis came down to light heavyweight for his fist fight with Conn. From what I can remember from reading about the fight, Louis didn't want the public to look at the discrepancy in weight and simply conclude (should Louis win) that a good big one beat a good little one. That decision strikes me as odd, but I think its fair to say Conn would have found it harder to keep away from Louis had Louis not been weakened/dehydrated.

  • Burtweisen. You have a bee in you bonnet when it comes to Louis. I like Loughran, he was a very good boxer and tactician, but put simply, he didn't have the neccessary speed or artillery to cause Louis problems. I hope you can see Carnera wasn't the boxer that Louis was, yet Tommy couldn't get a result against Primo.

  • Dragon: You got me wrong, Louis i think was the best of all time. But Loughran could have beaten Louis on points if he did not get caught. Conn had Louis beat going into the 13th, but thought he could knock Louis out. The rest is history.

  • Anyone caught square by Joe Louis was going to go down. The man had the hardest punch in his time, and maybe for all time! Getting hit by anyone square could knock a man out, but getting hit by someone with Joe Louis' ability...yeeesh!

  • what is the name of the rocky marciano movie?????? plz respond

  • maybe you need to read more about louis' opinion of the fight. when he called braddock the most couragous man he ever fought. you stupid shit

  • That slow motion camera is truly magical...

  • think what you want about jimmy. the reason he is the cinderella man is because he was able to go against diversity and do what he did. also, to say that baer was not worth while is crap. he killed two men in the ring. today, that would revoke a man's license due to danger.

  • (L)

  • But later he found it again as he was matched against John 'Corn' Griffin as his stepping stone and given a second opportunity, which was the beginning of "the greatest comeback in ring history", touted in Braddock-Baer introduction ceremony. Which eventually led to that "phony Hollywood film" entitled with the best-describing nick name you could give to James J. Braddock, the Cinderella Man.

  • HSJ90 I bow to you as you sure know your boxing history. One thing I cannot understand why was Braddock afraid to give Baer a rematch??? Also, how come Braddock did not fight anyone worthwhile until Louis?
