Well, it is a good thing to learn from songs. As a writer reads a lot, a musician can improve his skills and vocabulary by learning songs. Listenning, of course, is part of it. Andy's music is a wonderful way to learn, and Antoine Dufour's too (so as Don Ross, Martin Tallstrom, David Soltany, Thomas Leeb, Preston Reed, Erik Mongrain...). But whatever you work on, try to not forget what you know yet. For example, i sometime use a flamenco technique in a funky style... !

Well, i started long ago working Satch's song, and then more jayy and bluesy things. I learned about harmony was interested in modal appraoches. Then i learned the gipsy swing ( awesome scholl). Then i learned Flamenco (even better school).

I found myself lost in all that requiring styles. When i discovered alternative tuning, and tapping, and slap with the acoustic guitar, i found a kind of shelter. I worked on Andy McKee's songs, and Antoine Aufour, and Don Ross (and...).

Since about one year, i 've been mixing up all i've learned in a single style.

Maybe i forgot to mention i love funky music. I put some in my music. But there still is so much to do ...Now i play without fearing it was right or wrong (théorically), and i try to break my habits as often as i can.

The most important to me is playing with emotions and colors, making the experience stronger.
