  • just wanted to say that this is pretty epic. I have ever been a fan of the culture books. this is a most excellent representation of Marain. props on using xenogears music :)

  • There's an official Maraim? Where can I find this? Google searches aren't helping me at the moment.

  • @RojOdio It's not official by any means, but you can download the file from the link in the description. Just added.

  • what computer program is this done on??

  • @raybernards Macromedia Freehand, a defunct program that hasn't been updated since Macromedia was bought out by Adobe.

  • What's the music?

  • @gotlag The music is by Yasunori Mitsuda from Xenogears OST, titled "Bonds Of Sea And Fire."

  • @DanielSolis81 thanks

  • After looking at your page on this, I've removed my previous comments. Curious, though: there are 32 characters, yet there seem to be some sounds missing. Sounds that come from the same letter or letters, but that context dictates. (Of course, there are utterances that are almost like sound effects that written language has difficulty, at best, alluding to...)

  • @aculturemind You're right. Several phonemes' characters are missing and a handful are actually incorrectly mapped when compared to official Marain. I had different intents for this font than actually writing in Marain, but enough people have expressed interest in a proper calligraphic Marain that I'll give it a shot when I have time.

  • Na Ru Ho Do.

I really should not watch things like this, adjusting brush weighting and strokes on a computer, the idea makes my brain itch.

maybe like a laser guided trebuchet,

  • @staberind Doing this on a computer is fun, but is no comparison with the elegance of real hand-drawn brushwork.

On the GSV Purity is Death, you comment is treated as a joke meme amongst the drones. They have started grafting living human tissue hands onto themselves so they can "write elegantly" with brushes.
