  • hey im looking for a housing for my deere, does anyone know where to get one cheap. i obviously know the dealer but their running around 210-235 there, any help would be great

  • I'm seriously looking for brush hog. Behind my undeveloped property as some rocks. Can this equip handle the rocks?

  • @arlenearmy Sorry, But no brush hogs can handle rocks unless you want your blades messed up/broke. This brush hog (John Deere 709) can handle brush up to 3 or 4 inches in diameter. You better pick up the rocks or buy a tractor with a front end loader to move them.

  • @brian93ist I may have used 2gal. Of diesel to brush hog that field. Tractor is very fuel efficient. There was no way all that ragweed was going to burn because of it being so green. Plus there are gas wells around, fire and gas wells do not go together well. And for baling weeds, this was 99% ragweed. No animal I know would eat it.

  • we used a brush hog for hay a few times when our haybine was busted, the cut is rougher and it isnt in nice rows but it does the job

  • @gokory Also they aren't made for cutting hay because it shreds it up into nothing. I was brush hogging this field because it was all weeds.

  • @ACFarmer89 yeh well ours tends to not do that we get very long stalks unless we go over it twice, then it gets shredded

  • @gokory they dont condition it either so it will take alot longer to dry

  • @gokory thanks. I went ahead & ordered the DR brushhog the other day. They told me it would take 16 days for delivery. About those rocks, I guess I better get the weed eater & then brush hog carefully so I can avoid those rocks.

  • God I love those type of cutters. I've been using mine for over 20 years and all I've had to do was keep it greased and change the blades three times so far. I've also used a friction cluch so I never had to change a shear pin.

  • i love the chopping sound that these make =)

  • I don't have that much to bush hog, but do have three acres to clear. Right now I am looking for the tools to remove the blades for sharpening. Thanks for sharing the video with us.

  • @semco72057 You could always jack the brush hog up and block it and take a grinder to the blades without taking them off. A lot easier to do. Make sure the PTO shaft isn't hooked up for extra safety.

  • @ACFarmer89 Thanks for the tip. I have a heavy duty hand held grinder to do just that. It is easier to do than trying to find the tools to take those blades off.

  • I sure wish I had that much to bush hog. I just can't get enuff of it. I LOVE IT!! (and so does my Massey Ferguson!) lol

  • @231MasseyFerguson The first tractor I drove was a Massey Ferguson and I loved it very much. I found that they, and the Case usually have more power than the John Deere for their size.

  • Man you are moving right along!

  • lol you need a disk bind or a haybind but oh well nice video

  • Why? This was all weeds, Not Hay.

  • Well you get a nice Farmers Tan, listen to the Diesel engine all day, And watch the bugs fly! Lol. Make sure you have a MP3 with ya

  • i'd love to do that

it actually looks like a lot of fun

  • it is fun, believe me. i love to do it. thats the perfect vacation to me, sitting in a tractor all day long. for the most part its fun but at times it can get pretty boring
