Categorizing poems into "Dark" and "Lighter" with an emphasis on the 'Lighter" work is a malaise at the heart of late 20th, early 21st Century poetry. Contemporary poetry is lightweight, in a time when poets should be speaking some very appropriate - hard things. Sigmund Freud a genius of the previous century said something like 'wherever i go i find a poet has been before me". Where are the poets who will lead the way?
