in the background on the tv the telvision show mentions which writer wrote 'slaughterhouse 5' the answer is Kurt Vonnegut, those who have read the book know the charater Billy Pilgrim is a man who believes he is traveling in time because he cannot come to turms with the past. I think the surreal feeling of the book very much come into the Lost series
