I did this without taking anything off, just play with it for a couple min after you watch the video to see all the parts your working around, you can pop off the rubber thing and light plug with ease, then there is a metal paperclip like thing you un hook, then pull the bulb out and put a new one back in! very easy, dont take your whole bike apart!
nice bike. doing a custom rebuild? i noticed you have 2. i am currently rebuilding mine. i've placed je racing pistons, a hot cam, racing head, 3 in. extended swingarm, full muzzy exhaust system. i sanded, primed, and painted it myself. blacked out all the lights except the headlight, and its replaced with a cool blue halogen. and the turn signal bulbs are blue. it lifts the wheel in first, second, and third. and i weigh 215lbs. it is very quick for a 250cc.
I JUST REPLACED MY BULB AND I ALSO SKIPPED HAVEING TO TAKE OF THE fairing OR EVEN HAVEING TO DROP MY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ON THE GROUND IT TO ME LESS THAN A MIN TO DO IT TOOK ME LONGER TO WATCH THIS VIDEO LOL
I changed my first bulb ever and I didn't even have to remove the fairing. It took me about 10 minutes because I had to familiarize myself with the setup of the lamp. I have average seized hands/arms and it fit in barely so I could change the bulb w/o disassembly.
I'm in the same boat. I thought I'd have to take out just a few screws in, pop out the old bulb, put in the new and put all my screws back in. After taking out most everything I could from the fairing, nothing came off except a chunk of my finger when I leaned on the mirror and got it pinched. Tomorrow I'm going to try again. I'm getting too pissed to quit now.
Removing the faring is no picnic. I wish I'd read the comments from people who replaced the bulb without removing the faring. Now I've got most of the screws out of the faring and it still won't come off. I've already spent an hour on it, nuts have dropped into places where I think I'll never find them. I'm no closer to having the bulb replaced and now I've got to figure out how to get all the stuff back on that I've taken off. I see why you didn't show the removal of the faring!
you HONESTLY DO NOT have to do all that just for a bulb!...i installed an HID KIT on my ninja 250 without even touching any fairings or screws or anything other then the rubber shroud the bulb clip and the bulb itself!
WOW i never had to do that...i just reach in from the bottom of the dash..never had a problem with that...also upgraded to an HID kit..still never removed any fairings at all!

how many stupid people are there in this world?
that second bike is obviously a parts bike or one that he was rebuilding, he did not do all that to change a fucking bulb
its just easier to show what needed to be done on the second bike

Why is this given thumb down??? I, too, replace with just reaching in and it works excellent.

Thanks for removing the Fairing, it gives a good view to the people who have never done it.
The first time I will definitely do it the same way, and after I have done it one time, I will see.
Thanks so much for the video.

Yeah same here. Just reach in on the bottom and boom, done.

advisory note: make sure not to touch the bulb with your dirty fingers. it develops hot spots due to the grease and you'll need to replace it again.

Good Post

Ha! Good video but I found it a lot easier just to leave the top fairing on and squeeze my arm in there. Took maybe 5 minutes...
