  • Don't let go the coat.......Is that a British expression or something?

  • RIP John............

  • is it just me or does kenny jones' hair look like a wig?

  • daltrey reminds me of doc brown

  • Szeretem ezt a dalt!

  • Theres an imposter on the drums!

  • ...doesn't 'involve' me like their 60's stuff

  • rip john and keth

  • I'm a huge Keith Moon fan but Kenny Jones held it down on this album. The man does not get enough credit. No matter who stepped on the throne after Keith, they were going to get a hard time from some of the fans. Any musician that has listened to Face Dances can tell you that Jones is no slouch.

  • Pete Townsend looks like he just staggered out of bed.

  • "So I live my life tearing down the runway

I'm sure to get the hang of hanging in there someday"

  • Don´t let go the goat?

  • @R3DM4nCz non lasciar andare la capra...non lasciare andar la capra.....non lasciare andar la capra....(translated in italian)

  • @eleonorage65 HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • ¡¡The Who por siempre, la mejor banda de todos los tiempos!!

  • Classic track! One of my all time favourites, and voted 'song I'm most likely to sing when drunk' for more than 10 years running!

  • The music of my youth... just as refreshing today as it was then.

  • PETE TOWNSHEND IS MY JESUS

  • @MrKungfucarrot123 John is my Jesus :)

  • Who's the best? The Who

  • This band has given me YEARS of pleasure. I was a bit put off by Pete's bad press about the abuse thing but I'm not interested in propaganda and I wasn't there to actually know what it was all really about...so fuck it..........PLAY ON!!!!

  • Happy Birthday Keith Moon (R.I.P)

  • "Face Dances" is such an underrated album. Granted, their sound was never the same after Keith died. But this is still exponentially better than anything on the charts today.

  • 3 persons dont have the coat :)))

  • Just fucking glue the coat to you head!!!

  • we always knew The Who could play great fast, and great slow songs, great loud, and great soft songs, plus they could smash-up gutairs with the best of 'em, so the only remaining question was, "Yeh, but can they dance ?" and this vid shows that they can. :)

  • I like Johns headless bass.

  • Amazing Thunderfingers at 2:03

  • They sure did mellow out since Keith Moon died, with their 80s haircuts ,and Pete not doing a single windmill, duck hop, or power slide. That along with Roger using a mic stand. STILL it's a great song!!!

  • @coalb389 Yeah...maybe you like how they cooled their act, and i want to give them props for adapting to the 80s way...but i suspect the sad truth that they were just being, plain old uncreative sellouts. going witht he herd. everything the who seemed like they were against.

  • its too fucking pop

  • @78psql Pop? No. Justin beiber is pop. Justin beiber is also the very essence of shit. This is much better than pop.

  • john entwistle is the man

  • i love the who but damn this song is horrible

  • @78psql

Well... means you hate the who.

  • Who is the drumer? Keith Moon was dead... :(

  • @siom4 kenney jones the former drummer for the faces(Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood)

  • Pete farted and this little jem popped out, not nearly their best, but better than most out there...

  • @hudooguru you mean roger farted because he is the most famous member of The Who

  • love to hear this ,, the who where great ... super muziek

  • John Entwistle pisses me off for two reasons:

    1) He plays the bass so effortlessly he makes it look easy. Which it is not.

    2) He died.

RIP John, we still love and miss you...

  • @redgreenjr

    Effortless is an understatement...

  • I was walking with my rain jacket of 9 years over my shoulder, here in my 2nd homeland of Holland...the wind blew it into the canal. I jumped form boat to boat, trying to find a pole to save it, but to no avail . I posted a FaceBook message with a "rest in peace" sentiment.

2 people independently posted this song as a sarcastic condolence...

  • @hoboearl That is actually kind of funny. :) But I am very sorry about your loss. :(

  • i grew up in the 80's with this who, great stuff! moon or not!

  • oh. my. god vevo is fanally promoting the doesn't suck on a who video AC/DC!

  • THEIR MUSIC CHANGED ALOT AFTER THE DEATH OF KEITH IN 1979

  • @SOUNDCHASERX It was 78

  • there isn't keith moon at the drums :(

  • Nice to see Pete playing a Rik again.

  • My neighbour John Crome directed this video and new the band quite well. It's a great song and great video

  • Not the best years for The Who, but because of what they made before, I can forgive them the 80's, they are still one of the best bands ever.

  • Is it just me or does this song belong on "Louder than Bombs" by the Smiths? I think Pete was having a Marr moment when he came up with this. What is good is that John Entwhistle still has his totally massive 10,000W bass rig to play this light brit-pop ditty.

  • @theekrusher This was written before The Smiths were invented! Think Marr may have been influenced by P.T

  • I remember watching this video on HBO's Video Jukebox!!! Thanks for posting.

  • really a great song, but moon the loon is missing

  • @abraolacerda he died

  • Is Roger trying to sing like Elvis?

  • the who are like the arctic monkeys of today! i like bouth, ¡live rock!!

  • John Entwhistle always reminded me of Bill Wyman and John Paul Jones. That is, they all hung out in the background, just playing the music. None of them hungered for the spotlight, but all of them were essential to their group's success. RIP John.

  • 0:35 it really turn me down not to see Keith there :(

  • @Berenueve

    Why? :o

  • @proudtobefilipino92 cuz he should be there

  • @Berenueve

Oh yeah, he's the awesome drummer dude, right? :(

    How come he's not there?

  • @proudtobefilipino92 I know, he died on his own fault, but still....

  • @Berenueve

    How'd he die?

  • @proudtobefilipino92 overdosis of a medication he was taking to trate his alcohol adiction :s

  • @Berenueve

Yikes! You try to cure something that might kill you, but it turns out the cure is killing you too. :|

  • @proudtobefilipino92 yeah, it's very ironic....

  • without moon :(

  • pete is so cool with his rickenbacker the who forever

  • What a swell tune! Why can't songs be more like this one?

  • MR.KEITH MOON will always be the one and only drummer to be THE MAN

  • kool tune!!!

  • Comment removed

  • the who are awesome, but nobody can replace keith moon.

  • i gotta admit they all look really young in this video. RIP Moonie, i really don't listen to the stuff the who did after he died, but I can definately hear the difference.

  • 1 person let the coat go!

  • Great number , i thought it was about keeping hold of your faith IE your Mum;s coat on the high street when you are a kid,, a metaphor if you like,,nice one Pete,,

  • @spadge321 I believe you're right. If I'm not mistaken, this is either dedicated to or

is about Townshend's spiritual mentor Mehar Baba. Also, all three members wanted

Kenny Jones to return for the reunion shows starting in the late 1980s, but he

declined. There had just been too much tension on the 82 farewell tour. Remember

Bob Geldof comparing getting the four of them together for Live Aid to getting one

    man's four ex-wives together? LMAO!

  • i dig Roger but i also love Kenny Jones and all is drumming , you can't replace Keith, i play the drums , and every drummers is like a fighter, and every fight is different ,, Listen to Kenny's intro on 'you can make me dance you can make me sing' ,, an intro to die for man ,, I'm sure Roger can be petulant but my money would be on Kenny to knock him out during the rehearsals for the main bout !

  • KEITH MOOOOOOON! T_T

  • Beautiful!

  • Luv the set and the fade out at the end.

  • He's known as Roger Bear in that scarf.

  • The Best

  • I have to admit, this isn't my favorite who song by far, but it's far and away better than many other 80's style music...3.5 stars out of 5 in my book

  • I always felt Kenny Jones never got the respect he deserved. Of course he didn't have the wild abandon of Keith Moon, but the 2 albums he cut with them grooved like none before.

  • Daltrey tried to tell him how to drum like Keith and Kenny told him to fuck off,, Dartrey bottled it and got rid of him , after all the Small Faces were the REAL mod band , The Who jumped on the band wagon, i do love the who , but having played in inflammatory bands myself , i know shit goes down and there's always confrontation, and personality disorders,,

  • @spadge321 Roger never told Kenny to play like Keith! Roger released a statement when Keith died, and said that "The Who will continue, but what everyone has to understand, is it will never be the same" Roger hated Kenny Jones because Kenny felt as though he was the official drummer for The Who as opposed to a replacement. He was a great drummer, but he was also an asshole. He reminded me of The Who's wooden leg!!!!

  • I take your point yeah man, but I feel as a drummer myself and as a recovering alcoholic that if the Sex Pistols exploited Sid's naivety so did The Who with Keith, they knew he was vulnerable and a time bomb, so everyone waited for the inevitable, at least the Stones booted Brian out to try and wake him up a bit,, but in all honesty I do think The Who had shot their load by 76 anyway,, all the rest is nostalgia and rehashed half ass ideas,,

  • @spadge321 uh..brian jones quit.

  • no he never , get your facts right , that's what broke his heart , technically it was his fucking band as well , they bundled him out , there was a pay off too , and Brian Talked getting a better band together in his more lucid moments a band like Creedenence clear water which he was very much into at that time , so come on man , lets not re wirite history eh ?

  • theres enuff heads that try and re write their own ego history IE , Keith suddenly saying he was into Robert Johnson when he was 14 , liar, Brian got him into all that serious blues stuff,, the dead can't argue their case though can they, and then theres Mc Cartney denying the fight he had with Stuart

  • @spadge321 great now there are classic rock trolls

  • @spadge321 dickhead

  • quim face, what's your beef baby ?

  • De los peores temas de the who :(

  • The Who at their poppiest ... this was one of my favorite songs of the summer of '81. At the time, some critic remarked it was like Paul McCartney & Wings LOL.

  • this is so good i listened to it twice in a row

  • this doesn't really sound like roger lol

  • One of my faves off an overlooked WHO album...Some of Pete's most 'personal' writing...

    THEWHO

    LONG LIVE ROCK!!

  • God I love Roger.

  • @jmahoney95 you freaken kidding me this is a great song

  • nobody can replace Keith Moon but, Kenny did a pretty good job

  • This is Pete discussing his devotion to Meher Baba. One should never "let go the coat", i.e. let go of their devotion to their philosophy & faith.

  • @apollowoman - I knew it was about his devotion, but was not aware of it being Meher Baba, thanks. Now go hear Melanie long version of the spine chilling song about her woodstock experience " Candles in the rain", she also mentions Meher

  • @apollowoman it great song it has something for everybody keep hanging on and keep the faith as they say

  • u cant listen music like this anymore.....

  • Way good.

  • whats this song about?.. i cram to understand it

  • @mandem89

    not letting go of somthing?

    i duno

  • The Who just as I remember them from the spring of 1981 just after I saw them for my first time on German TV's Rockpallast. I was16. I went out and bought Face Dances and I've been married to them ever since. Funny enough I was told that I was digging an OLD group. Looking at this video today make it even funnier. They look so GOOD. The idea that they was gonna split the year after is completely absurd. But they did. But they have come back, thank heaven,

    and sounds better than ever.

  • I have always loved this song from back in the day!

  • I don't fucking care this song isn't played anymore, I don't care that this was mostly ignored when it was released . . . .This is a great Who Song, this is a great fucking song.

  • The Who are the greatset band ever!!

  • @SuperWillBass You are correct, sir!! LONG LIVE THE WHO!!!!

  • @SuperWillBass Agreed! Just not quite the same with out Moon though

  • @SuperWillBass Well, after the Stones. Second best.

  • YEAH!!!
